2023 Winter Holiday Fashion Trends I Love
Hey there, gurls! With the holidays around the corner, it’s time to begin planning outfits for all the upcoming festive events on your winter calendar. I know this can be overwhelming, but don’t worry, because today’s post has everything you need to dress to impress this year! I’ve rounded up three of the top holiday fashion trends for 2023 that are perfect for adding some cheer to your wardrobe this season.
Top Holiday Fashion Trends 2023
Plaid
First up, let’s talk about plaid! It’s a classic pattern that always looks cute for the holidays, but this year, it’s all about going big and bold! We’re talking about oversized plaid patterns in bright, eye-catching colors that will definitely make a statement. Whether you opt for a plaid blazer, a cozy flannel shirt, or even plaid pants, you’ll be sure to turn heads with this festive pattern. I’m sharing some of my recent favorite looks that I’ve styled with plaid that I think would look perfect for the holiday season.
I LOVE the colors of this Plaid Single-Button Longline Blazer!!! The blazer could be worn for Christmas and Valentine’s Day, and it would look great with a dress. If the pink and red combo isn’t your cup of tea, the blazer is available in several patterns and colors.
I knew when I saw this adorable plaid fringe wrap skirt at Talbot’s that I had to try it on! I like that it isn’t in holiday colors, so you can wear it outside of the holidays. I paired it with a crewneck sweater and a gorgeous velveteen blazer, and I thought the whole ensemble would be quite perfect for a holiday dinner!
If you’ve been needing a new coat for this winter, I am loving this plaid double breasted long peacoat. It is not only the perfect length to wear over dresses and skirts, and it looks so cute with knee high boots! It comes in several different colors of plaid if you are looking for a bit more color, but I love the classic look of the black and white.
Silver and Gold
Next, we have silver and gold. These metallic shades are perfect for adding some holiday sparkle to your outfit, and I think they make every outfit feel a little more fancy! You can go all out with a sequin dress or keep it subtle with metallic heels or a statement bag. You could even go with a gold or silver manicure!
I’ve really been loving Talbot’s holiday wear this year (P.S. You can see more items I’m loving in this post)! This metallic gold puffer vest is truly so fun. It has a removable faux fur collar, and it felt so warm and cozy. I am wearing it over the cutest reindeer pullover, which has the perfect touch of gold with the antlers!
If you want to add a metallic touch in a more subtle way, check out this cashmere sweater. This gold metallic print is perfect for the holidays, but I will wear it with jeans, too, for a casual date night with my husband. The large fits me perfectly, not too tight and not too loose.
Fair Isle
Last, but definitely not least, we have Fair Isle. This traditional pattern originated in Scotland, and it’s perfect for adding some cozy texture to your holiday outfits. This year, Fair Isle is trending in a big way, with oversized sweaters and scarves being particularly popular. You can also find this pattern on hats, gloves, and even socks for a fun and festive touch. I recently shared a post with tons of Fair Isle sweaters for you, but I am also sharing some of my personal favorite Fair Isle looks below.
This Amazon Essentials sweater is so soft and comfy and comes in several different cute patterns. I’ve been a huge fan of Fair Isle sweaters for years, and I love the shades of blue in this one. A Fair Isle print is a classic print that screams winter is here! I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
I love Fair Isle sweaters so much that I rarely pass up the opportunity to try one on! The color combination of this zip collar sweater is what caught my eye. I love how it looked with the jeans, but it would also look nice with leggings running errands or dressed up with nicer pants for a holiday dinner.

I used to have a red and black and white plaid flannel shirt. when I left Wisconsin for Florida I didn’t need it anymore. but I’m going to find a nice lightweight one. I am so very pleased hear that plaid is back in!
and I do hope you get the bees in the springtime!

Patti, it is the Gold Leopard Metallic Loopy case. My phone is an Apple 14 Pro Max, but it is probably available for other phones.
Your posts make me happy every day!!! Thank you for all the work you do and the wonderful things you share!
Aww, thanks, Christy!
Thank you for all the holiday looks that can be worn all winter not just December! The blue fair isle sweater is beautiful on you!
Love the plaid blazer!!
The gold metallic vest looks amazing! I didn’t know I needed it until I saw it on you!! I think the Zuvi hair dryer would be a great investment, but I am not quite ready to make the investment…
Mary Jo, I loved that gold vest too. And, I understand that the ZUVI is an investment.
Love the plaid!
Love the blue plaid fringe skirt. You look great in that outfit and it’s my favorite. Love the sweaters.
I really like that quarter zip fair isle sweater.
Fair Isle and plaid! two of my favorites! The red jacquard metallic topper in red from chico’s caught my eye. Jeans or wide legged dress pants make it versatile. There’s also an embellished turtleneck to go with it. The sweater alone is perfect for less dressy events, and with the topper for dressy occasions would get me through the season.
That blue fair isle sweater is beautiful on you!
As many adorable things! Love the plaid peacoat! Its hard to believe the Holidays are upon us…Happy Friday❤
I was just talking to my sister about some holiday clothes and what do I see? You have posted some very cute things. Thanks for offering up very very pretty choices!
Thanks,
Linda P.
Lol! I guess this is your sign. Hahaha!
Beautiful ideas. I love the wrap fringe skirt.
I bought the wrap fringe skirt in brown last year and I still love it.
Good morning! My favorite today is the velveteen blazer and fringe wrap skirt – what a darling look. Plaid is timeless and classic. Have a great weekend!
I had to have that blazer!
The plaids you show are good because you can wear them all winter. Be careful with bees. I am very afraid of them now because I got stung on my thigh at a water park. ( There were a lot of bees flying around that evening.) It was no big deal till the next day. Long story short I didn’t have a reaction but developed an infection which turned to cellulitis. It spread down my thigh and looked horrible. Thank God the oral antibiotics cleared it and I didn’t end up in the hospital. My doctor said bees carry a lot of bacteria because they’re always looking through trash for sweets.
How horrible. There is someone in the neighborhood with hives. It is like watching a bee highway…they come on one side, and they go back on another side. They must be used to people because you can walk around them and they never seem to care or notice.
I love the cashmere sweater from Talbot’s.
It is one of my favorites!
I am absolutely smitten with plaid for the Holidays! I alternate with Buffalo print, such fun.
Love all the plans- they remind me of my favorite Bobbie Brooks outfits in high school!
Lol!!!
Love the red blazer, and the blues skirt!
The pink plaid blazer is beautiful! I still hope to add a fair isle sweater to my closet.
Such fun clothes. I love dressing for Christmas.
Love these picks. I guess I missed the reindeer sweater last time! Its Darling.
Tania, I can really relate to this post. I have always loved wrap skirts and still have a black and white one I purchased about 30 years ago. The blue/green with the fringe is adorable. I have a Liz Claiborne mocha colored puffer vest that is my go to. I usually wear it with dark jeans and a long sleeve white tee. The selection of Faire Isle sweaters this year is great. You and I share very similar tastes in clothes.
It sounds like we do share the same taste. I have the brown and red version on that wrap skirt that I bought last year.
I like the plaid blazer with jeans. It’s a classy look
Love these looks! I’m more of a silver, red, white gurl . My tones are cool winter tones and silver jewelry. I love your blog you are amazing
Love love love the first red plaid jacket- you look so nice in the pic!
Lots of goodies here. Great post!
The colors are beautiful. My favorite is the cashmere sweater, stencil floral.
The puffer vest is GOLD! Haha, get it? 🤣 I love that it’s both casual and fancy, and I also love that it’s not too puffy – I have enough of that myself already. 😬😜
Too funny! That is clever. Lol!
Cute!!! Not a fair isle girl though
The plaid shoes are cute
Thank you for the suggestions for holiday/winter trends! My fave is the gold v neck sweater from Talbot.
Love the blue velveteen blazer outfit! So pretty and colorful.
