The Spring & Summer 2026 Shoe Trends I’m Loving Right Now
Have you looked down at your shoes lately and thought, “Why do these suddenly feel off?” That happened to me the other day, and it took me a minute to figure out why. It wasn’t the outfit, it was the shoes. The colors and styles just didn’t feel right with all the lighter pieces I’ve been reaching for.
Shoes have always been my Achilles’ heel. I can put together an outfit without much trouble, but finding the right shoe to finish it off has never come easy for me, which is probably why I notice it so quickly this time of year.
This is about the time every year when I start swapping things out. I’ll freshen up my pedicure, move the darker shades to the back, and start pulling out shoes that feel softer and more in line with spring. It’s a small change, but it makes your whole outfit look more updated.
And I have to say, the spring and summer 2026 shoe trends are really good this year. Not the kind where you think, “That’s cute, but not for me.” These are easy, wearable styles that fit right into real life. You can slip them on with what you already own and feel like your outfit just makes more sense.
I’ve already been wearing several of these, and I’ll show you what I’ve been reaching for and how I’m styling them without overthinking it.

Spring & Summer 2026 Shoe Trends
The Modern Espadrille and Wedge
I love the leg-lengthening effect of a heel, but comfort is non-negotiable for me these days. The 2026 version of the wedge is much more about stability than those crazy “architectural” shapes you see on the runways.
We are seeing a huge return to the espadrille wedge, but with a much better fit. These new styles feature lower, more manageable heights.
Elevated Thong Sandals
I know this one might surprise some of you, but thong sandals are definitely trending again. The difference is that they look more refined than the flip-flops we used to wear.
You’ll see them in leather, with slight heels, or with minimal, clean designs that feel more intentional.
Adjustable Slingbacks for a Secure Fit
Slingbacks are the perfect bridge between casual and dressy. The 2026 versions feature slightly wider straps and adjustable buckles. These features ensure the shoe stays perfectly in place as you walk.
Shoe Trends I am Skipping This Year
I always try to stay open-minded when it comes to new styles, but not every trend belongs in our closets. Joe says I have enough shoes to fill a stadium, so I have to be picky! Some of the 2026 styles just do not make the cut for my real life.
The “Sneakerina” Hybrid
I know the name is cute, but I am just not sold on this one. These shoes try to be a sneaker and a ballet flat at the same time, and they usually end up looking a little confused. I prefer my sneakers to look like sneakers, and my flats to be feminine.
Mesh Flats
I have seen these see-through flats everywhere lately. While they look very modern on a twenty-year-old, I am passing on them for myself. I like a shoe that feels secure and provides a bit more coverage. Plus, I am just not a fan of everyone seeing my toes through my shoes!
Transparent Plastic Straps and Jelly Shoes
Clear plastic straps and jelly shoes are making a comeback. My feet still remember how hot these felt years ago! Plastic does not breathe, which is a recipe for blisters. Jelly shoes might bring back childhood memories, but they offer zero support for our feet now. I much prefer soft leathers that move with my foot.

Verse Of The Day
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Hooray for your daughter being out of hospital! Prayers will continue.
I bought a pair of jelly flats last year, and I like them. I heard a couple rude comments about “visiting the past”, but I am starting to see them more now, and no more rude comments. but, as with every kind of shoe it has to be the right style for each of us.
Diane, they are coming back, and they are cute. They just aren’t for me, but I know you’ll see a lot of them in the stores.
🙂 Glad to hear your daughter is on the mends. A walker can be very handy. I use mine everyday. It is next to me by the sofa so that when I stand up I can stretch myself upwards, so I stand up straighter and walk easier. Tania, I am glad you did a post today, I always look forward to them. But its okay if you take a break, I think we all would understand 🙂
The walker is great for helping to steady yourself. They are super helpful, we found that out when Joe had his knee surgery.
🙂 Glad to hear your daughter is out of the hospital and now at your house to begin her recovery. You can now all breathe a sigh of relief. I like the espadrille wedges. I hardly ever wear heels anymore and these look like they will feel nice and stable.
Your daughter is in my prayers. I had injections in my back yeasterday. I know how hard it is.
I agree with you on leaving these shoes at the store. So glad your daughter is home with you.
I love shoes and handbags. I agree with your no list for shoes that won’t find a home in your closet.
glad your daughter is home and making progress. also, I hope they figure out why this happened.
LOL! I am totally with you on the hard pass on the see-through shoes like the mesh ballet flat/MJs and jelly shoes. And the so-called “sneakerina” is just bizarre to me. I tend to wear flat sandals most, both elevated and casual.
☺️ I love sling backs!
Same!
glad your daughter is home from the hospital. I hope she improves more each day. nice shoes 🙂
Such good news that your daughter is out of hospital. Best wishes for her continued recovery.
