A BELK TRY-ON HAUL FEATURING CROWN & IVY
Are you ready for spring? Even though the groundhog hasn’t surfaced yet, I know that I can’t wait to see flowers start to poke out from the ground. I will probably jinx it, but I swear it seems like winter has flown by this year. The funny thing, one of the biggest snows that this area ever got was in March.
I’m sure hoping we don’t get any snow in March, and I hope that we get lots of sunshine and warm weather instead. Even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I can still feel “springy” in my clothing. I’ve always used color to change my mood, and spring is the perfect time of the year to start wearing brighter colors.
Typically, spring colors are not quite as bright as the colors that I’m wearing today. Pastels are usually associated with spring, but I love vibrant, bold colors, so these outfits spoke to me. If these outfits don’t bring you out of the winter doldrums, I don’t know what will. After feeling yucky the past week or so, these outfits were a much-needed change.
Before I even start describing these items, I let you in on a secret. Everything is by one retailer, one brand, and are all extremely affordable. Unless the prices have changed, the most expensive item is less than $25.00, so you can feel good about your purchase. Not only are they affordable, but every piece is nice quality and you won’t be disappointed in your purchase. However, I did find the sizing to be a challenge, so I’ll make sure to mention that for each item.
To help you equate the sizes to you, I’m going to give you my stats. I am 5’6″ tall, and I’m weighing around 150 right now. I’m in between sizes right now, but I’ve been wearing a medium in sweaters lately. Jeans and pants are difficult for me since I still carry most of my weight in my waist, and I’m between a 10 and an 8. Some jeans sizes I wear a size 30, but I’ve been ordering a 28 lately. I’ve not really gone down too much in size and I sometimes still order my usual size 10 since I hate items to fit me too tight.
I LOVE this mock neck sweater, but you might have noticed that it is too big on me. The print is gorgeous, and I love the quality of the sweater, but it is going to have to go back because of the size. I ordered a medium, so the sweater must run large because it is extremely big on me. In fact, all of the sweaters were way too big, so remember this when it comes the time to order. A small would have been the better choice for me.
The length of the sweater is fine, and it hits me right below my hips. I love that you can wear this sweater with black or navy, and it will look great with jeans also.
Here is a close-up of the print so you can see how vibrant the colors are. I only added my favorite earrings to the outfit since it didn’t need a necklace. These large hoop statement earrings are surprisingly lightweight, but the quality of the earrings is fantastic.
The most expensive piece of clothing that I’m wearing today is the white v-neck tee. This Wearever tee from J.Jill is one that I bought last summer, and I’ve worn it over and over again. This exact tee is not on the website anymore, but there are some layering tanks, etc. that you could choose instead. J.Jill has great quality clothing, and the Wearever line is my favorite, especially for traveling.
This long open-front striped cardigan has pastels and bright colors combined. You ladies who love pastels are happy, and the bright color lovers are also happy. It is a win-win situation for everyone. But, like the mockneck sweater above, this striped cardigan runs large.
The cardigan has drop seam shoulders, so I think that makes the cardigan feel and look even bigger. However, a small would have fit much better, so this is going back also.
I could have added a long necklace with this outfit, but I just decided to wear my 18 kt. gold vermeil cross necklace instead. The cross necklace is one that I wear all of the time and rarely take off. It was playing peek-a-boo with the v-neckline, and it was hidden in these photos. Lol!
The last outfit that I’m showing you is this navy turtleneck and plaid vest. The navy turtleneck tones down the color of the outfit and grounds it with a deep, dark color. This navy merino wool turtleneck is one from J.Crew Factory, but the navy color is already sold out.
Strangely enough, the only thing that was not too big for me was this plaid vest, and it was too tight. Lol! It looks fine for these photos, but I couldn’t zip it closed because it was too small. Even though I probably would never zip the vest, I want to be able to zip it, so back this goes too.
I do like the vest, the style, and the colors. But, the medium that I ordered wasn’t big enough for me. The vest also comes in a navy and green plaid pattern which is also gorgeous. I think this vest would look great with jeans and would be one that you could get a lot of wear from this spring.
The hot pink skinny jeans are great for spring and summer. I don’t think the jeans are really skinny, they fit a little looser than what skinny jeans normally do. I ordered a size 10, but they are too loose and baggy for me, so they also have to go back. Lol! I did a horrible job guessing which size I would wear, but hopefully, my mistakes will save you from making the same mistake.
The shoes that I wore with each look are older, and I’ve had them for a while. Who would have thought that I would have a pair of hot pink suede pumps that would just match the pants? The Michael Kors ivory monogrammed flats are still available. These are a classic pair of mocassins that can be worn all summer long. They run TTS, and I am wearing my usual size 9.
The UGG Scuffette II slippers are a pair that I bought from the Nordstrom sale, and I wear them every day. These are so warm and comfortable, plus I like the slip-on design of the slippers. The slippers also run TTS, and I’m earing my usual size 9 in them.

You look great in pink.
Hi beautiful lady! I loved this try on post and all the outfits, but especially the white colorful sweater & heels. Hope you can get one that fits! So proud of you for your weight loss! You look fabulous! How much have you lost? Im on the keto diet now and trying to get thin too.
Love these colors on you . I found the vest ran small also. Definitely loved the white sweater with the faire isle style on you.
Great post today the colors look great on you!!
What Bible translation do you quote? Thanks.
Normally, I use the NIV version.
Belk’s is my closest clothing store ( other than Walmart) so I am a frequent shopper/buyer. However, I normally wear petite sizes so I’ll have to see if any items you have shown are also available in petite.
I bought that sweater in medium also but I like it a little roomy. Goes great with black and my pink pants. I love that you showed us these sales. I ordered right away and got what I wanted. The quality is excellent. Thank you!
Loving these outfits today. All except the wide horizontal stripe long sweater. That would make my bottom look tooooo big. I don’t wear the Crown and Ivy brand usually (too preppy), but I may have too try it based on these looks. Thanks for the sizing hints!
The pink looks so good on you. Your weight loss shows in these pics. Wonderful pics!
I love all the bright colors! We used to have a Belks in my MIL’s small town, but not anymore. I did like shopping there. Love the sweater and the pink jeans. I hope you can get them in your size!
