50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40Today is the last day of January. Can you believe that a month has already passed since we were watching the ball drop and welcoming in the new year? So, how are those resolutions going, or do I even need to ask? I’m doing well on a couple, but there are others that never saw January 2nd. Lol! But, I haven’t given up. Just because January wasn’t a good month, doesn’t mean I can quit. There are still 11 more months left in the year.  50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40I am bound and determined to wear a two-piece bathing suit in Los Cabo. I guess that I “could” technically wear one now, but I wouldn’t want anyone to see me, especially not Joe. One of the only diets that have ever worked for me in the past is low carb. I managed to lose weight but then an issue stressed me out. Food was what I turned to, and pretty soon the weight came back. I have tried a lot of other things since then, but nothing seems to work. This past week I decided to try the low carb diet again. I am going to also look into Paleo and Keto, but I need to keep it simple with just a few go-to meals so I don’t have to think about what to prepare. What works for you?50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40 I am in love with this top!!! I love, love, love the deep rich color of this top. It is soft, cozy, and flattering. The cowl-neckline is oversized and can be worn in several different ways. It does run a little large, so I ordered a medium, and it fits me great. The care of the fabric is easy, just hand wash and lie flat to dry. The best part…it is on sale and is only $32.40 and FREE shipping!!! Go here for the link.

Turquoise Jewelry

50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40 Turquoise jewelry seemed like the perfect complement to this look. I loved how the turquoise popped against the deep vibrant purple. The Matilda cross earrings have marbling through them and a 2.25″ drop. I added the Mabel 69″ long necklace, but I couldn’t decide if I like it. The cowl-neck made it impossible to double the necklace, and I was a huge fan of wearing it long. I ended up taking it off, but I wanted to show you how it looked. The bracelets were something that I liked though. I added the large link Lelani gold bracelet, the Tayla with the large turquoise stone bracelet, and the Morgan gold bracelet on an elastic cord. Birdie Slippers

50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40 I couldn’t wait to wear these adorable Birdie slippers that were a gift to me from Rodan + Fields. However, waiting is exactly what I did since I couldn’t find anything that I wanted to wear with them. When this top arrived in the mail, I jumped for joy to see that the color was so similar. Here is what the Birdies website said about the Phoebe slipper: Memory foam to cushion ball of foot Shock-absorbing cushioning Dual-layer high density memory foam Breathable Poron comfort cushioning Elevating arch support Pressure-reducing heel cookie Finished with our signature satin quilting. I say that they are adorable and that they come in several different colors. Here is the link for all of the colors. 50 IS NOT OLD | A LITTLE BIRDIE TOLD ME | FASHION OVER 40It was so cold out that I was freezing. I thought that this was a good way to keep my head warm. Lol! My daughter wore her cowl neck like this all the time since it was so cold in Alaska. I wore another pair of Vigoss boot cut jeans. There are so many different styles of this jean, and I can’t tell them apart unless I am looking at the pockets. Lol! That is where they get fancy.

My Experience with Rodan and Fields

I started blogging in Sept. 2015 and taking my picture daily was new to me. Putting my face on the internet was overwhelming, especially since I could see all of my flaws. I contacted a friend who sold Rodan and Fields. The 60-day money-back guarantee was comforting since I’d spent a fortune on other products that didn’t work. BUT, they worked!!! When it came time to reorder the products, I asked my friend if there was a discount if I became a consultant and she said yes! I signed up that night with no intention of selling anything, but you ladies noticed my skin. You even said that I was glowing and a business was born. For your own fountain of youth, contact me and I’ll point you in the right direction. You have nothing to lose with the money-back guarantee.

I want to add my favorite healthy eating plan to the list of other responders. I Know God makes us all different and I hope you find a plan that works for you. I love my “Trim Healthy Mama” plan. Their book is on their website and on amazon or library….. I hear you about wanting something easy. This was for me. The book comes with recipes. I choose 3 for each meal and rotated. But once I got going it is great. The authors are: sisters, believers, they live in Tennessee and the approach is Bible based.

  2. LOVE THIS OUTFIT!

Please don’t do the keto diet for weight loss. It is great for that but there are negative consequences for long-term health. A moderately lower-carb diet with about a 100 grams or so of carbs will allow a lot of variety. Adjust for your personal metabolism and activity level. Using a monitoring app like My Fitness Pal can be helpful even if you do nothing else.

I’ve lost 55 lbs slowly over the last two years by having a lot of fruit for breakfast, a large salad with meat or seafood for lunch, and meat with cooked veggies for dinner. Large portions at meals with no snacking in between. There is no need to ever feel hungry. Variety is the key to good nutrition. With careful choices, you can still eat out. Slow and steady will preserve gallbladder health and reduce sagging skin. Rapid weight loss can result in surgery.

Whatever you choose, please look into the long term health effects.

Wishing you the best of health!

Love all your stories, keeps me entertained for sure. As far as weight loss, low carb is the way to go. I like Atkins. It is easy to follow. Go to Atkins.com, start at Atkins 20 and you are on your way. I feel so much better cutting out sugar and carbs. I’m down 13 lbs since Christmas. I found Keto too complicated. I like simple.

  4. Intermittent fasting has been mentioned above at least three times and I’ll say it again. IF isn’t a “diet” but a lifestyle change, one that is SO easy to implement. Eat basically what you want, though sensibly, in an 8 hour window, nothing for the rest of the 24 hour period. How simple is that? I’m not hungry first thing in the morning so I usually eat breakfast at 10:30 (fruit, yogurt, a crepe and hot beverage). I’m not hungry again until 2 when I have a salad (I love Costco’s individually prepared Santa Fe salads). Then I eat a sensible dinner. Chocolate in some form is a must for me every day. Daily walks and one to two sessions of reformer Pilates a week keep me toned. (Don’t you just love how when you mention “diet”, everyone has something to say, lol?!)

You look great, BTW!! Love how you paired the turquoise and plum color; that never would have occurred to me!

  5. What a lovely warm colour your top is. Just the shade to brighten up the very cold day we are having here in the NW of the UK. Good luk with your diet – I am finding the Slimming World diet working of me. Just 5 1/2 lbs to go to my goal then i will have lost 2 stone from the 1st July last year. Wishing you success. Love – Jill x

  6. Have you tried intermittent fasting? It is not a diet, just an eating window. I have been doing it for a month now, and the weight is falling off. Google Dr. Jason Fung.

  7. I love that top. The color is so pretty and looks good on you. The turquoise jewelry is a good choice too. Gives the look added interest. Ive read about those shoes too. I bet they are comfortable. I’m lucky to have a good fast metabolism so I don’t have to diet but my husband and son have been on the Keto diet. I think it’s not too healthy myself but they’ve lost a few pounds pretty fast. They’re doing this for a month then going to a moderate well balanced diet minus sugary drinks etc.

  8. I am in Los Cabo right now. The weather is beautiful. When are you planning on going?

  9. Beautiful color in that top and I really need to look into Vigoss jeans as I love them everytime you wear them! I decided this week that I am tired of making two separate meals..one for hubby and one for me. I have been trying to eat “healthier” the past six months but have found then that I eat more sweets and snacks then usual. My hubby wouldn’t eat any fruits or veggies if I didn’t put them in front of him and he stays the same size. So starting in February, I am going to try and eat a smaller portion of what I make him and then hopefully be satisfied with one sweet a day. If I feel I need more, then I will make a chocolate protein drink. I don’t know if this will work, but I hate coming up with two different things to make for each meal. I also exercise 30 min. a day and then try to get in additional walking. Wearing a Fitbit helps me know where I’m at with steps throughout the day. Good luck with what you are trying.

  10. Love that color combo! I hear ya with the weight thing. I am fighting the menopause weight. My husband and I do some ort of a fast at the beginning of every year. This year, it’s the Daniel Fast, and I also added in intermittent fasting where I only eat between an 8 hour window. This seems to be doing it for me. I feel so good, I am even thinking of going vegetarian (well, mostly….)
