I think one of the most overlooked products in skincare is a toner. Toner’s are necessary, and they can be a game-changer if you find the right one for your skin. I decided to try the Algenist GENIUS Liquid Skin Resurfacing 2% BHA Toner that’s found only a Sephora. When I read that it was a non-irritating, gentle yet powerful solution for daily exfoliation, smoothing post-breakout blemishes and marks, unclogging congested skin, and removing oily buildup, while effectively optimizing skin barrier function; I knew I had to try it.

The GENIUS Liquid Skin Resurfacing 2% BHA Toner has great reviews, and the claims are pretty amazing. The first thing that I wanted to do was take a BEFORE photo to track my results. I’ve only been using the product for 10 days, but I’ll show you my AFTER photo at the end of this post.

My skin is a tiny bit red and splotchy looking because I just washed it. You should always cleanse your face first before using toner. Algenist has a couple of cleansers that you might like, including the GENIUS Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser. Anti-aging is why I am using skincare in the first place, so this cleanser sounds like something I would like.

After your skin is clean, you will want to use a cotton ball and gently cover the entire face, neck, and décolleté. I used a cotton pad since I didn’t have a cotton ball, and I’m sure that works just as well. TIP: There is a small “stopper” attached to the top of the toner, so be sure to flip that up so that the toner can flow better.

This toner is suitable for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin. It is formulated ideal for anyone experiencing hormonal skin concerns, which can look like blemishes, wrinkles, and loss of firmness. One symptom of hormonal skin aging is loss of collagen, which they’ve addressed as well.

I am sensitive to smells, so that is the first thing that I check out when trying a new product. The scent has a slight medicine smell, but it isn’t strong or overwhelming. The product soaks into the skin quickly and dries fast. My skin felt “clean” after using, but not too dry.

After using the toner, you will want to apply a moisturizer. I used the toner morning and night, and in the daytime, you’ll also want to use SPF sunscreen.

Overall, I liked this toner, and I will keep using it for a while. I want to give the product a chance to work, which takes time. All of these products can be found at Sephora.
