Best Straight Leg Pants and Jeans for Women Over 50

However, several of you asked me about straight leg pants and jeans, and for recommendations. This post is for all of you, and for all the ladies who are ready for the wide-leg jean trend to goooooo. I’ve never met a pair of jeans I didn’t love, but I get it. Today, I’ll showcase a more traditional silhouette – The Best Straight Leg Pants and Jeans for Women Over 50.
Straight-leg styles are truly a gift: they’re polished enough for errands or lunch dates, comfy enough for travel, and they work with everything from sneakers to sandals to a little wedge if you’re feeling fancy. I’ve rounded up some fabulous picks that give you structure without squeezing the life out of you—ha! The 28″ length hits me at my ankle bone (I’m 5’6″ tall), but they are also available in petite, plus, and plus petite! This is one of the reasons I love shopping at Talbots; they are size-inclusive!
I paired the New York Crop Graphic Tee with a couple of other new finds. I’ve worn NYDJ jeans for years, but the NYDJ Frayed Hem Crop Jeans (Size 8) are new. I love the ankle length, the straight leg fit, and the slightly frayed hem. The Leopard Suede Sneakers c/o Dolce Vita are too stinking cute! They are incredibly comfortable and stylish, but you might need to trim the insole when they arrive.
J.Jill jeans fit me perfectly, so I wear them a lot. The Dark Wash Slim Straight-Leg Jeans are a classic style that is never the latest trend, but it is always in style. I added the neutral-colored Essa Slip-On loafers, which are as comfortable as they are stylish. This sleek loafer look is trending and moving away from the lug, chunky loafers we’ve seen in the past few years.
As you can see, the shirt is long enough to wear with leggings, but I wore the straight leg Endless High Rise Pants from Athleta instead. These are my favorite pants for when you need to look “dressy” but want comfort. They are the perfect travel pants because they don’t wrinkle, and you arrive looking put together.

I’m a huge fan of Wit & Wisdom. These jeans are right in that sweet spot between slim and straight. They’ve got a little stretch and a dark wash that looks sharp all day. What makes them a winner for me is the ‘Ab’Solution panel—hello tummy control without feeling like a sausage! The ankle length works great with flats or booties. I always pick up a pair at the annual sale.
Madewell ‘90s Creased High Waist Straight Leg Jeans – Nordstrom
Now these are fun! A little retro, a little modern, and a whole lot of curve-loving lift thanks to the “Magic Pockets”. They hug your hips just right and have a flattering back rise that gives you a little boost in the backside. The crease down the front gives them a dressier vibe, and they’re long enough to wear with a heel. These would look fab with a tucked-in blouse or even a tee and blazer combo.

Comfort lovers, this one’s for you! These are no-fuss, soft, and stretchy pants that you can wear all day long without thinking about them. I’d pair these with a tee and lightweight cardigan or a denim jacket for an easy outfit that still looks polished. Not a fan of the heel with these, but otherwise a great look.
