My Biggest Pet Peeves With Blogs

50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet PeevesWhat are pet peeves? It is something a particular person finds especially annoying. In this case, the particular person is me. When I started blogging, all of 4 months ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I still am not sure if I have a handle on the blogging concept, but I hope I am heading in the right direction. In trying to find MY voice, I have looked at a lot of different blogs. Some of the blogs are about fashion, some makeup, and some are on setting up blogs. I have two pet peeves when it come to blogs. My number one pet peeve is, I HATE blogs who try to draw you in by stating a # of things involved in the post. An example of this would be my title if it said: The ONE Mistake Bloggers Make. The reason they do this, is to get the best of our curiosity. Wouldn’t you just have to know what that one mistake is, so you wouldn’t make that mistake. Every time you click on the blog, regardless of the actual information contained, it counts toward their daily page views. 50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 1I actually caved in to the pressure and did a  post with a # in the title. I could have just used the same title without the # and it would have been the same. I have felt like such a sellout ever since I did that post. I may not get as many page views, but I am going to try not to use a # post just to tempt you in. I have boycotted other blogs when they do this too. 50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 2The second pet peeve I have involves the email subscription link. I literally hate going to a blog, and the first time you move your cursor, a box pops up trying to get you to sign up for their emails. I get that you want subscribers, so do I, but that pop-up box is ANNOYING!!! I do ask for you to sign up for emails at the end of each post, (have you signed up), but I hope that is not as aggravating. I don’t mean to offend anyone, I am just making observations. I guess I’ll get off my soapbox and go back to talking about my clothes. Haha50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 3I wanted to have a close-up of my necklace. If you have read my posts for a while, then you have seen this necklace before. However, I hadn’t laid eyes on this necklace since I went to Tennessee for my grand babies birthday party. Here is the last time I wore it. I knew I had a tote of jewelry missing, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I woke up thinking about my jewelry and wondering where it was. I was starting to walk out of my bathroom to see if the bag had got kicked under the bed. I turned around to get my glasses, and the bag was sitting on the bottom shelve of my linen closet. (similar) Coincidence,  I don’t think so.50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 4I bought these faux suede pants at Catos before Christmas. This is the first time I have worn them, and I really liked the fit. They are extremely soft and very comfortable. They are no longer on the website, so here is a similar pair.50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 5This picture of the headless person is supposed to be the preferred pin on Pinterest. So if you don’t like my smiling mug on your Pinterst page, here is your photo. The mock turtleneck sweater is old, it is from Old Navy.50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 6The patch work suede coat is a stunner. I bought it years ago at the QVC outlet in town. I always get compliments when I wear it. It is a Denim & Company brand.50 Is Not Old | Blogging Pet Peeves 7The dark brown slouchy boots are also old, and came from the same QVC outlet. Haha! Sorry for rubbing it in, but my little town only got a Wal-Mart about 3 years ago, so we deserve a few shopping outlets. Lol!

This is also something I WANT and NEED:  I have added a subscription button to the blog, right under the recent posts tab. I would appreciate it if you would take the time to sign up. You will then be notified by email when a new post is made.

Thank you sharing your ideas and style !!❤️😍

  2. I’m just now reading this post. Your 70’s inspired outfit is far out! As a new blogger, you certainly DO speak your mind! Honestly, I found your blog a bit hard to follow. From pet peeves, to lost jewelry, to an outfit that you’re styling…….. I hope you don’t mind my honesty, but before you start calling out other bloggers, I’d take a close look at your own. Just keeping it real! 🙂

    1. Julie, I don’t mind honesty at all. I do tend to ramble in my posts, maybe I will improve with time. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

  3. I live in a warm climate so I’m looking forward to seeing your spring and summer posts.
I’m a bit jealous of your ability to wear boots.

  4. Those subscription pop ups drive me crazy too. I typically just close out their webpage and move along. Another thing that I don’t care for is when the blogger rambles on soooo much before getting to their topic. A little is fine, yours is great, some bloggers ramble way too much.
I love that you post yours early in the morning. I love that you are so real. I love that you are a frugal shopper.
And I love the new layout.
Keep up the good work! ????

  5. Thank the blogging gods that honesty still exists in the cyberworld!! LOL I can understand (all too well) how irksome those pop-ups can be. Too often have I personally just closed the tab because they appeared more than once. I mean, I understand the need to datamine and how that can be an immense source of revenue for any blogger but there has to be a way of collating that data in a transparent, easy and not as annoying fashion 🙂

p/s I adore your coat, adore adore adore.

  6. Your blog is perfect the way it is! Love the faux suede pants…look comfy….

  7. Henrietta says:

I will! Thanks so much. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I have been shopping my closet lately. Found some interesting stuff! lol You have inspired me. I look forward to your posts!

  8. Your blog has given me some great ideas with mixing up my wardrobe. Don’t change a thing! I look forward to your outfits; you never repeat a look. No Cato in NY but I do see one on my way down to VB and I think there’s one in a mall there; will definitely make a visit. Your humor and style are great!

  9. Very pretty jacket, and love the dark boots. Had the same thing happen to me with a misplaced jewelry tote. I started remembering “missing” pieces. –I’d put the tote inside another bag for safe keeping. Geez!

  10. I too dislike the pop up window on blogs asking me to sign up by email…. the thing is, on some of them I have already signed up for their emails, and I receive their emails and love reading blogs that way. BUT…. even after having signed up, I STILL get the pop up window asking me to sign up!! What’s with that? Very annoying.

  11. That coat~ Yasssss!!!! Totally loving that 70’s vibe! Again, Lucky Lucky Duck with that QVC outlet….. And yes, Thank You for no pop ups with subscription request on the blog- they really do drive me nutz! I think your doing an excellent job with the blog, and I am noticing the fine tune tweeking you are doing with it… Great Job Tania! 🙂 🙂

    1. Jules, I have a brand new theme for the blog that I am fixing to implement. It should make it look a little nicer. Cross your fingers everything transfers correctly.

  12. I agree, those pop up sign-ups are annoying. I was impressed with how you handled yours, and thus, immediately signed up. While my pear shape limits me from wearing some outfits you post, you always look great and you have become my most favorite fashion blogger. Keep on blogging…

  13. You look fabulous! I was wondering if you shop Catos online or in the store?

    1. I only shop my local Catos store, mostly because I like to see and feel the material. If I like something in the store, and they don’t have my size, then I would order online.

  14. I totally agree with pop ups
I can hardly wait to get you email every morning with my hot cup of tea!
    It makes me smile everyday
    Thanks Tania!!

  15. Henrietta says:

I LOVE your outfit. I live in Wise – I didn’t know that there was a QVC outlet in Grundy. I need to visit! I absolutely love your blog. Keep up the good work.

    1. We have two of them Henrietta! One is Vansant and one in Grundy. You can make that trip in about 1 to 1/2 hours.

  16. I have to agree that pop up box to subscribe is annoying. Especially when I’ve already subscribed to get their post alert email. Thanks for not having the popup. But I still need to subscribe to your blog.

  17. I love reading your posts. Not only do you have a great sense of style but you have a great sense of humor. Your posts are real and down to earth. Keep up the good work!

    1. Libby, that is probably because I am older than dirt. Get it, earth – dirt! Hahaha ????

  18. I must agree that seeing your smiling “mug” as you call it, lol, is a joy in the morning : ) We all need a smile to get the day started : ) : ) LOVE the monochromatic look and I have similar necklace to work with, just on a smaller scale…
Where is a QVC outlet close to Atlanta? (which is my hood) My sisters and I might just take a road trip in the Spring!
PS & FYI I am on your email list XXOO

    1. Susan, I have two of the QVC outlet stores in my town. I am about 6 hours from Atlanta. (my sister lives in Acworth) These are not “official” outlet stores. This is where QVC or HSN have an abundance of product that didn’t sell, or was returned to them. They sell it by the pallets to clients who set up their own stores, or put it on Ebay.

  19. Melanie W. says:

When those pop up subscription requests show up on a new blog I’m checking out, I immediately go elsewhere. I find it annoying as well!!!! I love your blog and I never miss a post! It’s straightforward, simple to follow, cute, funny and it’s very easy for one to relate. Hope you don’t change a thing about it!!! 🙂

  20. There you go, teasing us with that QVC outlet again! I will read your posts with or without a number! Great outfit…. Glad you found your jewelry!

  21. You look gorgeous as always!

  22. The pants look very similar to a pair I got at TJMaxx this fall, that fit wonderfully and were about $25

    No Catos here

  23. Tania,
The suede coat is truly a stunner. It complements the monochromatic pants and sweater. Good style!

  24. Marie Dee says:

Well, Tania, The #1 thing I love about your posts is that I receive them early in the morning, so I can enjoy them with my coffee! The #2 thing I love about your posts is that you always look fabulous! The #3 thing I love about your posts is your sense of humor! And the #4 thing I love about your posts is the great ideas you give me! Oh, and the #5 thing I love about your posts is the information as to where to find…all these in no particular order! …can you tell I am having coffee?
