50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant This series is almost over, and I am thrilled. This series has kicked my butt. It started out easy enough, with the Emerald shape. But it has gotten progressively harder with each new body type. Is this how you feel too? Frustrated because nothing looks right? 50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant Today’s body type is radiant, formally known as the apple. If you are this shape, your shoulders and your hips are smaller than your waist. The goal is to widen the top and hips, while trying to narrow or camouflage the waist. I was ready to throw in the towel and admit defeat last night. I called my sister and told her to look at the outfits I had taken pictures of for my radiant reveal. She told me I should keep trying, after she finally quit laughing. Lol! Don’t worry, I intend to show my failures later in this post. I went in my closet to give it one more try, and I hit pay dirt. I think I like this outfit better than any of the previous ones. 50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant The burgundy tank undershirt and the caramel boyfriend sweater cardigan are both from Old Navy. The sweater is one that I have had for several years, but it has always been one of my favorites. Here is a cute sweater, but it is in oatmeal. The necklace is one that I bought this past December at Charlotte Russe. The reason this look works, is the tank is a scoop neck, or a wide neck. Those styles, along with the v-neck and sweetheart neck, will open up your chest and create width. The necklace is bolder and shorter, this will help draw the eye up. Here is a similar one. The cardigan hides the outline of the waist and creates vertical lines making you seem thinner.50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant The sweater skirt is one I bought this past fall at Maurices. I wore it once before, here, but I like it better this time. I love wearing a sweater skirt with tights and boots. This sweater skirt has a horizontal design, which will help to widen the hip area. Skirts or dresses that float away from the hips, help to create a smaller waist line. With jeans and pants, you need to wear boot cut or the wide leg style. Wearing knee-high boots, flats, or chunky heels are best. These are my trusty riding boots that go with pretty much everything. If you don’t already own a pair of boots like these, go now. Here is a gorgeous pair from Macy’s.50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant Okay, when you stop laughing I will start with the positive parts of this outfit. I love the jacket! The material is thick and the pearl embellishments are striking. The funny thing is, I never seem to wear it. I have tried it on over several different shirts and dresses, but nothing seems to work. My thought process was a wide neck shirt and then add the jacket with the pearls down the front to create a vertical line. The problem with this look is the pants. I should have either worn wider legged pants, or worn a knee-high boot. You know what they say about hind-sight. Lol! If you think I messed up with this look, keep scrolling and see how bad it was before I changed jackets.50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant Goodness, this is just WRONG!!! I had good intentions, but it just is a hot mess. I belted the waist to try to create a waist line, which is good, but the sweater is too long and it hugs the legs. Yep, I created a round image, the very thing I was trying to fix.50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant If I crop the picture, it looks pretty good. However, I can’t go through the day without my legs, so I guess changing the sweater was the best option. Haha

Virtual shopping is easier than shopping my closet. This cardigan, when worn open, would create the vertical shape you need. The pants are wide legged, and would widen the lower half. And, this top is gorgeous, and the cap sleeve and the wide neck would help to wide the upper half.50 Is Not Old | Body Types | Radiant
