BUFFALO CHECK FOR SUMMER FUN
Kids say the darndest thing was an old Art Linkletter saying. Today I was reminded of that BIG TIME! Let me back up though and tell you that Friday was a hectic day. I went to work even though I don’t work on Friday’s anymore because I needed to do payroll. Payroll was scheduled for Monday and since I am leaving town I needed to find a way to get everyone a paycheck on Friday. The new system is not as easy to maneuver as the old one I had so it took a phone call to Texas for us to figure out a way to get that done. Then, I needed to do a ton of other things and my son reminded me that I needed to pick up Emersyn from school.
I picked her up and as we were walking out the door the teacher’s aide said, “did you know that Emersyn got married today?” Emersyn grinned at me like a possum and proudly showed me her new ring. Married and in preschool, talk about a child bride!!! Anyway, she told me the lucky young gents name and then I mentioned to her that she wasn’t going to be Emersyn Stephens anymore. She wanted to know why so I told her that when women get married that they normally take the last name of their husband. I said, “your mom was Kayla Yates and now she is Kayla Stephens.” She knew that the phone said Kayla Yates so that made sense to her then. Later on, as we were talking, I said something to her and called her Emersyn Stephens. She immediately corrected me and said, “my name is Emersyn Stacy.” ?♀️ Lol!!!
When I walked into work wearing this the other day one of the girls asked me if I was going on a picnic. I was ready for the comment and I told her that Boo Boo Bear and I were going on a pic-a-nic with my basket. I started to take my pictures with a basket just to get my point across. Lol! I told you that I was in love with gingham and this is just a gingham check on steroids. Lol! This top is a new purchase and it is by Joan Rovers. This is a small and I normally wear a large so take that into account if you decide to order something from that line. The top also comes in a couple of different colors, just click on the highlighted wording to be directed to the website. The top is 100% cotton so it is machine washable and hang to dry.
Since I was going on a picnic (in the theory) I didn’t put on much jewelry. I only have on my Diana metal earrings from Plunder. I keep meaning to take these and have my initials put on them, wouldn’t that be cute, but I keep forgetting. The only other jewelry I have on is my Alex and Ani bracelets.
I don’t wear sneakers a lot but there are times when it just calls for a sneaker and this is one of those times. This is a Chuck Taylor (I got it right this time) knockoff pair. I bought these at a little boutique in Acworth Georgia called Glitzy Chicks. They monogrammed my initials onto the tongue of the shoe. I added my own unique detail. Lol!!!
I really appreciate all of the shares and the pins of my outfits that you have been doing. PLEASE continue to do that, you won’t believe the difference it has made in my number of visitors to my blog.

LOVE that shirt! I ‘may’ have to order it in black.
This a cute outfit. You look young and ready for any surprises.
I love this red and white check in fact, the whole out fit looks so comfy for everyday running around. Since I’ve been following you, i think you are always dressed for the perfect occasion. Turning 56 this year has really made me feel so old although my mother just turned 92 years young and still going! You are an inspiration to me!
Tania,
Would you show your hair from the side and back and what do you tell your stylist when you get a trim?
I have a thick head of hair and am in search of an updated longer style. I am trying to grow out a short
hairstyle.
Thanks,
Edie
Just ordered this from QVC in red!!! I did think about the possible picnic comments, but I dont care, i love the look. Ordered my normal size, so Im anxious to see how it fits. I had ordered a jacket from the JR line in the past and had to return because it was too big.
Haha! Yes lol. Trainers/ sneakers ?
Happy Saturday. This is my kind of outfit. Chill, relaxed but put together. I even like the raw hem jeans and that’s saying something cause I usually don’t. But they aren’t so obvious and make the look even more relaxed. So ?? The sneakers are really cute too. Especially in red. Enjoy Cancun!☀️⛱
LOVE the red and white checks and I’m also a big fan of the no hem jeans! They are cute!! You look great in this outfit, the big check print just scream SUMMER is coming!
But you know what I love the most about this look for you? The natural lip! you didn’t wear the red lipstick and I think it makes you look 10 years younger!!! BEAUTIFUL ?
I like this outfit. Going to old navy when I take my daughter n her friend to the mall. Will look for some jeans like that. But no button or zipper i hate them
Cute outfit, love the look and the sneakers ?
I love that you inspire people to look their best no matter the occaision. I get a lot of inspiration from you. I live in Acworth and would love to meet you if you ever find yourself in town again. Glitzy Chicks is one of our favorite boutiques. Thanks for sharing your experiences and great finds with us.
That would great, Lisa! I would love to meet up with you. I normally come to Acworth in the fall for a vintage fashion show and I will be talking about it on the blog so look for it later.
The buffalo check looks great and so do the jeans. I am not a lover of trainers and only own one pair which are used for walking, would like to see with a ballet pump or espadrille. Once again you look fabulous, relaxed and ready to enjoy your soon to be enjoying holiday
It took me a minute to figure out what “trainers” were. I assume that you are talking about my sneakers. Lol! It is funny what they are called in different countries.
Cute look! I’m “mad for plaid”, including buffalo checks. I have the same top in the black and white, …love it!
I loved the black and white version also. I just thought the top was adorable.
