Since I retired from working outside the home, I’ve started dressing more casually. Most days, you will find me in leggings, jeans, or loungewear sets. Today, I’m giving you a casual style recipe; a pair of boyfriend jeans and a button shirt, and everything is from Walmart.

How many of you can relate to this casual outfit? Normally, I will wear a solid color or striped button shirt, but I wanted to get outside my comfort zone and style a plaid shirt instead.

Since plaid is a classic pattern, you wouldn’t think that a plaid shirt would be outside my comfort zone, but I rarely wear one. I love plaid coats, plaid pants, plaid skirts, and plaid dresses, but not plaid shirts.

This is actually a super cute shirt, and it might win me over to the PLAID side. The Button Down Flannel Shirt is lightweight, not scratchy, and can be worn tucked in or loose. For those who pay attention to details, notice that the stripes match up. That is a detail that is found on higher-end items, so everyone will think you paid way more for this shirt than you did. The dark navy is limited in size, but there are a lot of colors to choose from. I love the Winter White combination since it is perfect for the holidays.

These Boyfriend Jeans came with a rolled cuff, but I didn’t want to wear them that way, so I rolled them down. The jeans are relaxed and fit me great. I’m wearing my usual size 8. The Faux Suede Ankle Boots have a low shaft. They also have lower heels and are very comfortable to walk in. I love this Bone color, but they come in black and cognac, too.

I almost always wear a cardigan or jacket with a button shirt. Today, I did something a little different and added a Rib Funnel Top instead.

I love this Rib Funnel Top; it is soft, lightweight, and VERY comfortable! It can be worn by itself or as a layering top like I have here. I wanted a relaxed, slightly oversized look, so I ordered a large.

I know a lot of items are limited in size at this time of year, so I’ll link to some other casual styles that I like.

I live in plaid flannel shirts and jeans in the winter when I stay at home! it is just the right weight to wear for cores, and sitting while staying warm. I’m surprised at the quality and price! I need some!

Tania: There are several clock repairmen in my area which I know isn’t your area but I bet you can find one who would love to work on this clock. It’s worth a shot if you really want it to work again. I have an old grandfather clock that I had to have repaired after a move and the fellow I had work on it was really into it and actually got it going again and that’s been 4 years ago.
Thank you for all of the great posts – I’m making your casserole for Christmas morning and have purchased several things from Talbots on sale which I shouldn’t have but couldn’t resist the great prices!

Love the outfit! Love the hair style! The outfit is my “Florida winter” outfit. I wore my buffalo plaid shacket & jeans this past weekend, but I was in Tennessee & Kentucky, ha ha. Love the memories of leaving cookies for Santa & popcorn for the reindeer.
