50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYI love dressing up for Halloween. My three grandchildren that live in Tennessee are all born within a month of each other, so they celebrate with one BIG birthday party in October. A costume party is always the theme and everyone participates. It is great fun and everyone looks great.50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYMeet the Houser family. The three little stair steps are my grandbabies. The roaring werewolf is Jett, Antman is Huttson, and the Angel is Matti. They turned 4, 6, and 8 so they really are stairsteps. Lol! My beautiful daughter-in-law is Stephanie and she always comes up with the cutest outfits. Here she is Pippi Longstockings. Matthan, my son,  is thrilled with all the hair. He would be painting happy little trees, Bob Ross style.
50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYBefore the birthday party on Saturday night, I went to see Matti practice her tumbling. She has just been doing this for a couple weeks, but she is doing great. Matti spent the night with me on Friday night, and we went and watched both of the boys play in a soccer match on Saturday morning. Huttson scored two goals, and Jett had an assist. After the game was over, Matti showed me how she could do the splits. Ouch, that hurts me to even look at.50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYMeet Fireball, now to be known as Fox. Matti had asked for gymnastic outfits for her birthday and Huttson went on Amazon and made out a wish list to choose from. I had Matti and Huttson’s presents, but I couldn’t think of anything to get little Jett. I asked Matti on Friday night what she thought I should get Jett and she told me he was wanting a Guinea Pig. She said if he couldn’t have a Guinea Pig, then he wanted an Opossum. I just laughed and forgot all about it. My Aunt came to visit on Saturday morning and my mother was laughing and telling her what Jett wanted. She just happened to know a lady who had one that she was wanting to sell. I messaged my son telling him that I was going to get them a Guinea Pig, and then waited for the explosion. Instead, he was asking all kinds of questions, and the next thing I knew I had bought my grandson a pet. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYThe party was held in a barn, how cool is that? They took all the children on a hayride, had hotdogs, chili, and cupcakes, and then built a huge bonfire for smores. They know how to throw a party!!!50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYHere is my sweet niece, Allison. She was Rapunzel but had ditched the long blond hair. It was getting on her nerves. This is imp is crazy smart. You better not try talking to her like a child or you will soon regret it. 50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYHere are my other two nieces, Rachel and Brooke. I can’t believe they have gotten so grown up. They are not only beautiful, but they are sweet too.50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYThis is a rare picture. I don’t know if we even have a picture in the last ten years of me, my mom, and my sister. We were one of the smartest ones at the party. It looks all nice and warm, but it was in the low 50’s before the sun even went down. We went as flappers, and flappers always had their long fur coats on. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN EARLYA quick selfie with my sister was in order. Quick story about my sister. She was not thrilled at the idea of dressing up for the party. I brought all three of us flapper dresses, so no one had any excuses for not dressing up. She tried on the silver dress but didn’t like the fact that it was a one shoulder style. Then she tried on the burgundy one, but thought it was too tight and showed too much cleavage. After about ten minutes, I said, “just pick one already, we have to get dressed.” She finally decided on the silver one, so I went and got dressed. We were in the bathroom and she was fussing that her hair didn’t look right. I fixed mine and then went to fix hers. “You look great,” she said. I told her she did too, but then she said, “switch dresses with me, I want the burgundy one now.” Can you believe her? I had to switch dresses with her to hush her up. You can tell which one is the younger sister. Lol

I hope you enjoyed a look into my weekend. I know it wasn’t a “fashion” post, but I thought you might like a glimpse at my family.

  12. Thank you for sharing your family adventures! I love the personal touch & insight into your life! Like you, I have a few grandkids right next door, but since we are out in the country, it’s a path through the woods! My husband has even made signs for their paths, Lauren Lane, Ryan’s Road, and Mia’s Meadow. We’re not sure about Baby Frank, who is 8 months old, but we do have a small 5 acre field, Frank’s Field? I love the decorated barn! What a great idea! One of the funniest costumes at our fall costume party, was one our daughter/son-in-law did a few years back. He dressed like Ed McMahon & our daughter dressed as a housewife who just won The Publisher’s Clearing House Sweepstakes. She had her hairs in rollers, wore her robe & slippers. She made a perfectly printed check just like we used to see on TV. My son-in-law’s outfit was pretty simple. A suit, sprayed his hair gray & found glasses like Ed McMahon wore. A pretty cheap costume to make that got a lot of laughs, as she continually had this surprised look on her face & her hand over her mouth!
