CLIMBING YOUR MOUNTAIN
As I put my makeup on every day I listen to a daily training call. These calls are meant to apply to my Rodan + Fields business but they are also inspirational in nature and often talk about the Lord, including Bible verses. That is exactly what my call was that I listened to on Friday. It was on climbing a mountain and while I understood how she was applying it to her business, I kept thinking about how it applied to life.
This lady was talking about her experience that she had when she went to Canada and her and her husband decided to hike a mountain because they had heard that the view at the top was worth the climb. She and her husband started off on a 5 to 6-hour hike up the mountain and it didn’t take very long before she was regretting her choice. She wanted to quit and turn around because she didn’t think she could do it. This was the scenario for the entire hike, every 30 minutes or so she would almost be in tears saying that there was no way that she could complete this task, it was just too hard.
She started praying to the Lord to give her strength, to guide her. Her husband would go ahead a ways and tell her that she could do it, just one more step. People who were coming back down the mountain would tell her about the amazing view and how it was so worth all of the struggle that she was going through and it just to keep on going.
So, with her eyes set firmly on the goal, with prayers running through her mind, holding onto the Lord for strength, she would take one more step. When she reached the top the feeling was incredible, the view was amazing, and she thanked the Lord for putting the obstacle in front of her so that she could appreciate everything so much more.
We all have mountains in our life. It might not be an actual mountain but the obstacle can still be just as challenging. Getting a diagnosis of a disease can feel insurmountable. Being in debt up to our ears can feel overwhelming. Losing a loved one can feel like you can’t breathe. Going through a divorce can feel like a part of you has been taken from you. There are so many mountains that we face daily but we need to follow the path before us.
Isaiah 41:10 says: Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Psalm 18:2 says: The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Joshua 1:9 says: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
On the way down the mountain, the lady was able to cheer those who were now on the same journey that she was on. You never know why you are having to go through something. Why is usually the first question asked. Why me, why them, why is this happening? We may never know the answer to that but maybe it is to help someone else later on who is going through the same thing. Maybe the Lord is using your struggle to be a blessing down the road for someone else.
Thank the Lord for your obstacles as they allow you to grow as a person. Call out to the Lord for help, He is there with you along the way. Pray for guidance and strength, He is your lifeline. And, reach out to anyone you see that is having a hard time, that could be your answer to “why.”
Conquer your mountain. Keep your eye on the goal. Enjoy the view when you get there.

Good morning Tania. After reading today’s blog I realized why I stumbled onto 50 is not old because I never read blogs. My son has been struggling & this message hit home for me. I can’t wait to share it with him. It’s exactly what he needs to hear & it will uplift him as it has me. Thank you for your thoughts & for leading me back to Christ. I truly believe he used you to help me. Amen!
Johnna, I pray all week long that He uses me to touch others. I hope that my daily post helps someone struggling with confidence and lack of identity through clothing choices. BUT, my Sunday posts are very important to me for the exact reasons you mentioned. Christ gets the glory!
Thank you Tania for the message today. I live in Clearwater , Fl and just went through the hurricane. We were without power for 5 days in 92 degree heat. Each day I didn’t think I could make it to the next day. I made it to the top of the mountain by starting each day telling the Lord I was so grateful that I still had a home. I prayed for neighbors around me that was not so fortunate and tried to help others all I could. We now have power and I came out of this a stronger person. Please say a prayer for the people in Florida.
Martha, there is so much to be thankful for. I will continue to pray for Florida as well as Texas.
Looking to conquer a mountain today that has been building between my oldest daughter and me. I needed this today. Thank you!
The Lord will provide, Marianne.

I struggled last night and couldn’t sleep, worrying about the obstacles I have in my life right now. While eating my breakfast I read your post. Thank you! I needed that reminder to call on my God to help me through.
these times truly show us just how little we are, and how FAITHFUL our God is.
