DENIM AND LINEN FOR SUMMER
This afternoon I looked outside and saw this really big gray cat out at the pool. It is one that I see in the neighborhood all the time and it is occasionally on the patio eating my cats food. I wouldn’t have even paid it much attention except it kept looking in the pool. I went to the window to get a closer look and I could see something moving around in the pool. I was afraid it was a snake but I could see it was too big for that.
I was wondering in the back of my mind if one of the ducks that swim in the river in front of the house had landed in the pool. I ran to the back door and made Emersyn and the dogs stay in the house. As I made it outside onto the porch I saw whatever it slowly sInk to the bottom of the pool. I went running and jumped into the pool, clothes and all, to get a very large wild rabbit out of the pool. Unfortunately, it had already drowned, so I laid it on the concrete and then tried to pump the water out of it. I kept pushing on its sides and I could see the air coming out of its nose but it never came back. I really wasn’t too sure exactly how CPR on a rabbit worked anyway. If I had only been there 1 minute earlier I could have saved it. That is our first casualty in the pool other that an occasional frog. Emersyn was quite amused when I came back inside the house because I was dripping wet. She said, “NeeNee, don’t you know you are supposed to put on a bathing suit before you get in the pool?”
I love linen pants in the summer. They are casual and easy to wear not to mention cool. This pair is 58% linen and 42% rayon and also they are machine washable. I bought this drawstring pair at Cato. The only thing I don’t like about drawstring pants is that they don’t usually lay flat in the stomach area. I noticed that these were bulky in that area so I will probably only wear them with a longer top in the future.
How many of you remember full-service gas stations? Those are something that you don’t see very much any longer. Have you noticed that even the cashiers in our grocery stores and Wal-marts are being replaced by the self-check out lanes? I also recently heard that banks are looking at replacing the tellers with machines where you could do all your banking on them. I know the coal miners and the auto workers are being phased out by automated machines. Then I just read about another round of clothing stores that are going to be closing stores. This is a trend of things coming, not in the future but right now. Businesses like Amazon are becoming the new normal, you can order all your toiletries, hair products, clothing, tools, etc from one place without leaving your home. The problem is that all those people who used to work at the gas stations, the grocery stores, the banks, the coal mines, and the automobile assembly lines are now out of a job. Can you imagine a television screen where one teacher can broadcast into 10 or 20 different classrooms at once? The sad fact is that none of us is very secure in our jobs anymore. That is one reason I wanted to start a blog so that I could work from anywhere and that is why I love the business of Rodan and Fields. It is ahead of the curve with the anti-aging skincare market. You don’t have to rely on the department stores to remain open in order to purchase your products and your business is only hampered by how much effort you want to invest. If you, or someone you know, are in jeopardy of your job being phased out I am willing to tell you what is possible. Just message me with any questions.

Because of you I started shopping at Cato’s. I am from Southern California and had never heard of them…now I am hooked!!! Thank you….
Love, love, love your top!
A lovely outfit nothing like linen and denim always a good look.
I love your outfit…Very classy! My 84 year old mother will not go to a self check because she says that it is taking away somebody’s job and that is so true, you know?
I am so excited to have found your blog! Finally… someone in my age range who seems down to earth and relatable. I love your fashions and you are too cute for words. I am now a subscriber! Look forward to reading your posts.
I too am very emotional about animals. I’m sad that the rabbit didn’t make it, but thank you for trying to save it, especially being willing to get your clothes all wet!
Nice outfit today!
The rabbit story is hilarious!! But I digress….today’s outfit has a very classy look. This is one I’ll try to recreate.
love it all you look great!
This outfit looks dressy and casual at the same time. Very nice.
Cool, crisp and clean! A classic look that is so polished. I would love if you took one look and photographed it with various jewelry to change it up. You have such superb taste in which piece goes with which. I always feel that I look a little too fortune teller if I combine pieces! A tutorial would be hugely beneficial!
