DO YOU STRUGGLE WITH PUTTING AN OUTFIT TOGETHER
So many of you leave comments like, “you look good in anything,” or “you always look good in everything that you wear.” Well, that is not the case, and there are times when I take photos and then trash the entire bunch because they look terrible. Here is what I can tell you….your mirror will lie to you. I can look in the mirror, and an outfit looks fine to me, but when I see the photos, I cringe and decide to start all over again.
These photos are some that I wasn’t happy with after I saw the pictures. It isn’t that the items don’t go together; it is that I wish I had tried something else instead. It is too blah, too plain, and too dark. My reason for showing you these photos is because I wanted to show you that fashion and getting dressed every day is difficult for everybody. We all have bad hair days, and we all have bad outfit days. The key is to realize that you should have done something different and then try again. Next time, I would wear a pair of jeans with the blouse, and go more casual.
I like the leopard print blouse, but I don’t LOVE the blouse. It might be the background beige color, or it might be that I think the large leopard print is too busy. But, when I look at the blouse on the website, I like it, so it might just be that the black is too dark and stark for the blouse. Anyhow, I am wearing a size medium, and it fits fine. However, it is also limited in sizing, so I’ll link to some other items that I like instead.
I liked these So Slimming pants, but I messed up and ordered the wrong size. I know that I usually wear a size .5 when I order from Chico’s, but I let my mind tell me that these were dress pants and that I needed to size up instead. That was a horrible mistake because the pants look too big and baggy. But, I love the pants, so don’t let the fact that I picked the wrong size keep you from checking these pants out. I love the slit zippers in the front, and I love the seam down the leg. Plus, the ankle-length is a flattering length, and you can wear a lot of different shoes with this length. This length looks great with heels, flats and loafers, and boots, making it very versatile.
I love leopard print, and I love heels, so these Sam Edelman shoes are perfect for me. Leopard print is not going anywhere, and it will be worn for years to come, so investing in a cute pair of leopard print shoes is not silly. You will be able to look stylish with jeans, pants, leggings, dresses, and skirts, and this print will keep you looking young and modern. This pair of heels have been sold out for months, but there are tons of leopard print options out there for you.

Adding my Vince Camuto lambskin leather tote handbag brings the gold out in the top and shoes. I love this tote, and you see me carrying it all of the time. I love the tote so much because it is soft, very nice quality, has plenty of room, and looks so luxurious when you carry it. This tote elevates any look you pair it with, but you can also carry it with jeans. Other than my Louis Vuitton handbags, this is probably my favorite bag that I’ve bought. That should tell you how much I love this bag.
So, do you struggle with putting an outfit together? I hope this shows you that everyone struggles with this, including me. For me, my biggest struggle is usually shoe-related. What do you struggle with the most???

Tania, every Sunday evening I put out my clothes for the week so I dont stand in front of the closet and go “I don’t have anything to wear” But once in a while what look liked the perfect pairing just looks blah on. those are my worst mornings. I know exactly what you mean,
Mary, I’ve left the house thinking that I LOVE this look. Then, later in the day when I look in a mirror, I think “what was I thinking? This looks horrible.”
I think the outfit is okay, just not your usual bright colors I have worn something to a wedding or an event and then see a picture of myself. Standing in the background or on the dance floor and think OMG why did I wear that! lol
Joyce, that is exactly what I am talking about. The mirror will tell you that you look great, but a photo doesn’t lie.
Hi Tanya, I really believe you can wear anything and look stunning, The blouse is lovely too , my kind of funky ,perhaps it would’ve showcased better with lighter coloured trousers or jeans as you said.Anyway, I look forward to reading your blog very much and get great tips and advice from you, I am writing from Ireland ,so you are reaching out to a wide audience, Thank you for all the time you give to us.
Eileen, I loved the blouse and its funky vibe, but it doesn’t work with my coloring. Thanks for following from Ireland, that is so cool!
Your title describes me to a tee. I struggle with this so much. Thankfully my adult daughter lives with me and is brutally honest 😉 but we don’t always agree on outfits.
We all need someone who will be honest with us when it comes to fashion. It is great that your daughter is willing to help.
I agree with the posts regarding the background color of the blouse. That taupe color is difficult for a lot of us to wear. My biggest struggle is finding pants that fit in the waist. If something fits in the hips it will be enormous in the waist. I think designers forget some of us actually have a waistline. I know there are some ‘curvy’ options, but they are few and far between. Have a great day.
I think that this particular color has some green in it. I can wear most neutrals with no issue, but this one just looks off with my coloration.
I struggle with putting an outfit together which is why I love you and your blog so much!!! I pin a ton of your outfits in Pinterest and refer back to them almost every morning before I have to go out into the world! lol
Thanks, Gayle. That is why I struggled with putting this photo out, I want to encourage looking nice and not settling, but I want everyone to realize that we all make mistakes.
Sorry but I don’t love that blouse on you. Too much background color or something. I don’t think wearing jeans will help but the cardigan did , because it blocked so much of the blouse that just doesn’t work.
IMO 😄
This is why I’m not that great at putting an outfit together because this outfit caught my eye. It seems like everyone sees something wrong with it but I like it.
Crystal, this look might work for you. That is the great thing about fashion, what works for me might not work for you. Try new things, and then go with what works best for you.
It is just off for some reason, but it might look great on someone with different coloring. That is great about fashion, it is not a one size fits all thing.
I love the blouse…it’s a funky adaptation of the traditional leopard print!
loved the funkiness of the blouse too, but it looks off. Maybe it is because I dressed it up instead of embracing the funkiness.
Outfit looks better with sweater. Did I miss that info??
Sheryl, the black cardigan was an old one that I’ve had for years, I forgot to do similar options.
The blouse is beautiful, but the color washes you out. I think that is why you don’t feel comfortable wearing it
That could be the case, Katy. I might like it better with a bright blazer or cardigan, or maybe with a denim jacket.
