DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE
I was skimming through a new book that just came in, and the author was talking about dreams and plans. There are some people who make plans and meticulously put those plans into action. And then there are some who just seem to go wherever the current takes them. In reading the dreams of the author, I caught myself thinking that I was over 50 and I was just too old for making new plans. WHAT!!! Did I even read my mantra? Age is an attitude, Keeps your young!
Okay then, after telling myself to stop being ridiculous, I started thinking more about dreams. I am a pretty simple person, I don’t really want for a lot of things. I have a nice car, a nice house, and as you all know, I have plenty of clothing. Traveling has never really been my “thing.”
But what if you COULD go and do, what if you could have anything you wanted? Am I really that simple, or have I just started settling? I have never made a bucket list, I never liked that name. But, I could make a few suggestions for a “Dreams Really Do Come True” list.
- Visit New York City
- See the Aurora Borealis
- Appear in a magazine advertisement
- Own a pair of Charles Louboutin
- Celebrate my 50th wedding anniversary

These are just a few things that come to mind to give you an idea of what I am talking about. I read about this person who for their job, had to change their password every 60 days. It was a real pain to try to remember the new password, and she was fussing about it one day. She decided to do an experiment the next time. Newly divorced and still bitter, she wanted to let go of the bitterness. So her first 60 days password was “forgivejohn.” She said after having to type to forgive her ex-husband for 60 days, she actually did forgive him. So they next time she changed her password to “goonacruise” She typed “go on a cruise” for 60 days and she started making the plans, and went on the cruise. I think you can see where this is heading. She took a pain-in-her-side problem, and instead made it a life-changing experiment.
I picked a strange topic to talk about with this outfit. Even though I paired the grays with yellow, the whole look of the outfit is still a little dark and gloomy. Maybe that I why I chose and uplifting topic. Or maybe what I was really wanting to change was this outfit. Haha Anyway, I will start with the positives. I love these yellow espadrilles by Michael Kors. I wore them in this post, which is one of my very favorite looks.
Espadrilles: Vince Camuto | Charles David | Nine West
My yellow, white, and gray tie blouse is an old one. I don’t wear it real often, I prefer an open neck look. The tie makes me think of a business suit for some reason. I think this look would work in most office settings, you could wear long pants if your office does not allow ankle pants. These are black pixies from Old Navy. I am just shocked at how many of you had never shopped at Old Navy. They have a wide array of clothing and it is very reasonably priced. It is the less expensive and less quality version of Banana Republic.
Yellow & Gray Blouse: Floral | Tunic | Blouson
Black Ankle Pants: Old Navy (ankle) | Old Navy (long) | Old Navy (Plus)
This charcoal gray jacket has 3/4 ruched sleeves. It is several years old, but I still like the way it looks and feels. It must be something about this jacket, the last time I wore this I talked about dreams also.
Jacket: Similar | Similar (Up to a 4X)
I know several things I would put on my “Never Gonna Happen” list.
- Skydive
- Dive with the sharks
- Sing in a Broadway Show
- Climb Mt. Everest
- Hold a Tarantula
Of course, I never thought I would have a blog and wonderful readers either. And, my sister probably never thought she would be a published author. Dream, plan, and remember that “age is an attitude.” What are some of your Dreams Really Do Come True items?
The comment section is at the end of the post, so keep scrolling. I look forward to reading all the comments, they make my day.

I like that outfit, it has a sophisticated look! I linked to your site in my post today. Hope some of my readers stop over to see your fun style. I’m working on my dream list…my highest priority is a home on the waterfront!
Thanks Dixie!!! And a home on the waterfront sounds like a small slice of heaven:)
Great tip regarding passwords!! It is so hard to try to come up with new ones ?
Love your blog!!
This did make me chuckle. I’ve always said (well, since November 21, 1987 when I married him) that my husband dreams out loud. He just says whatever. We joke that whenever I say something I’ve thought it through, planned it, financed it, etc. I think somewhere in the middle is probably healthier. I’m like you — I have everything I “need” and as long as I can buy pretty fabric (I’m a quilter), go see our son (8 hours away) several times a year, and buy fun shoes (always), I’m content (in worldly things). It does do us good to stretch and reach a little – go outside of our comfort zone. I would never – wear only black pants (I don’t think I own any), grow my hair long (it’s FINE), live with my father-in-law (enough said), or hold any type of spider. I would enjoy – going to Ireland or Australia, seeing the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade live, never having to shave my legs ever again (and therefore I’d wear a lot more dresses), and learn to fry fried chicken like my grandmother.
Ohhhh, I like the Macy Thanksgiving parade idea!
What a great message! I love the idea of the password! You look lovely today-that blouse is beautiful!
As an instructional specialist, rather than a classroom teacher, I meet individually with my students to set goals at the beginning/middle/end of each school year. It truly makes a difference.
I like the outfit as a work outfit. I agree it’s a little dark for spring, but whatever suits the mood/weather of the day, right? Maybe white or light gray pants? I also agree about the high neck thing. I have a similar shirt and I usually tie it loosely and not button all the way up. But, you may not be able to do that with yours…just depends on how it’s made.
I agree with other commenter about the password. What a teriffic idea!
What a coincidence the top of my BList is a trip to NY. I wanted to be Holly Golighly when I grew up. Interesting to read today’s blog, I’m in the card carrying LOL stage of my life now and I realize that I’ve drifted along most of my life and not really had dreams or goals. I’ve had a good life for the most part, but am feeling that I’ve wasted time too. Things to think about .
Along the lines of forgiveness — I was told one time that if you didn’t like someone to pray for them, because it’s hard to dislike someone you’re praying for!
In my former life as an educator I was a goal maker. Each year I taught I tried to achieve another goal. In retirement I love bucket lists too. My husband and I have crossed off a few things but most include travel which includes planning and finance. I love your blog. It reminds me to continue to dress well even if I’m not working anymore. Now I dress for me!
Love your blog! (As a retired English teacher, though, I can’t help but correct your grammar.) ? BUT, love your fashion-sense, humor, and inspiration! I have already copied several of your outfits! Would you share the name of the Dream Book? Sounds great! Thanks!
You must stay really busy, Knella, if you are correcting me ? Would you like a job??? Lol!
I’ll look at the book when I get home and let you know the name. It was another book by the Draw The Circle author, but I don’t remember which one.
