I have to admit that I was feeling a little guilty about going to Florida and having such an amazing time and leaving Joe at home. I called him and was expressing how I felt but he stopped me cold. He said, “you needed this time. You have no idea how hard you work and push yourself. The downtime was good for you.” Oh, my goodness, gurls! Now, do you see why I love him so much? Wasn’t that just the sweetest thing ever?

We actually got into a discussion while we were in Florida about “love language.” We weren’t talking about terms of endearments but instead how do we show our love and appreciation for others. Some said they were service orientated, others said that they loved to buy presents, etc. Joe’s love language has always been to take care of me. He doesn’t buy presents and would never make a public post about his undying love, but he will make sure that I have everything I would ever need or want. I am one happy and well provided for wife!

Today I am back to wearing my favorite color of blue. I love the bright and bold cobalt color. I even love this color when it comes to glassware, etc. The funny thing is that I don’t like blue (any shade) for wall colors in a house. But, give me a shirt, dress, etc., and I am all over that! This dress is one that I bought a year or so ago. It is one that is by Isaac Mizrahi and it is super comfortable. This is the shape of dress that I prefer because it doesn’t touch me in the waist area. That is the thickest area of my body but I don’t want anyone to know that unless I want them to. If I wore a dress that was tighter then I would need to add a jacket or cardigan to try and camouflage the waistline. This is a plain sheath style dress but the color and the added pockets give it plenty of visual interest.

I love wearing bright yellow with cobalt blue so I decided to accessorize with it. The bright yellow Adella earrings have a large stone and they are surrounded by clear rhinestones. These are a stud style and are approx. 1.5 inches. The bright blue Tasha bracelet is on an elastic band and it has a darker gold tassel. While that is still in the yellow family, it is not the bright color that is in the earrings. 50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS THE SHAPE YOU HAVE | FASHION OVER 40
The yellow espadrille shoes have been a favorite of mine ever since I bought them at least 4 to 5 years ago. I am very rough on my shoes so the fact that I have kept these so long shows you how much I love these. These are by Michael Kors and I am slowly starting to become a real fan of his line of shoes. EVERY pair that I have purchased from him have been extremely comfortable to walk in. The fact that they are also stylish is big PLUS in my book.

I love wearing scarves all the time but especially in the Fall of the year. I know that it is not technically Fall but I am gearing up for it. Lol! This scarf was from Cato Fashions or Old Navy one, I just can’t remember which one. I take the hang tags off of them once I buy them so that it doesn’t show when I wear it so I tend to forget where they come from. My advice is to always be on the lookout for cute scarfs. I prefer the type that is lighter weight and not bulky. It also depends on the area of the country you live in. Obviously, if you live in a hot climate year around then you need to choose very thin. The people who live in the colder climates mike like the blanket scarves better. You just need to choose what works best for you.

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESS THE SHAPE YOU HAVE | FASHION OVER 40This past few days in Florida was amazing for a couple of reasons. I loved celebrating with Iris and Brandon, having my meals all cooked for me by Carter, and laying out on the beach wasn’t too shabby either. Another thing that I really loved was the wide range of ages in the house. We had ladies in their early 20’s and still in college, to others that were in their 60’s. It was so much fun getting to really know everyone on a personal basis. Did I happen to mention that we also had a country music singer in the house with us? Carolyn Dawn Johnson and her children were there and the children even showed off their dancing talents. I don’t know if they can sing but they sure can dance! Don’t ever let your age stop you from being all you can be and enjoying life to the fullest!

Love this dress! You look amazing. Joe sounds like my husband. I have everything I need and want because of this man. He is my hero. So glad you have fun at the beach! And so glad to see you featured a scarf. I was actually wondering if scarves were going to be as popular. I love them

where can we buy the dress you have one with the 3/4 length sleeves?

    1. Cindy, the dress that I have on came from QVC years ago. Any of the others on the blog you just click on and it will take you to the website.

  5. Beautiful dress and love the scarf as an accessory. And….thank you for pointing out how a sheath dress is suppose to fit…looser. Whenever I put a dress on like that I’ve always that it didn’t fit me because it didn’t fit around the waist and just hung, but it’s nice to know that’s how they are suppose to look and fit !!!! I too don’t like my dresses touching me in the waist area. Have you read the book “Five Love Languages”? Very good and my hubby’s love language is definitely doing things for me and others and I’m like you and feel guilty if I go out for the day with the girlfriends and he’s back home working but he always tells me to go have fun, it’s not bothering him.
