Dull, boring, plain, and dreary are words sometimes used to describe an all-black outfit. What is the first picture that comes to mind when thinking about wearing black? For me, it is Johnny Cash. As much as I love Johnny’s music, I don’t want to look like him. So, today, with the help of Kohl’s, I’m going to share my easy tips for wearing all black without looking boring.

Easy Tips For Wearing All Black Without Looking Boring – Pay Attention To Texture

There are a few easy tips for wearing all black without looking boring. My goal is to always look CHIC and stylish, and Kohl’s helped me achieve that goal. When you wear all black, you have to be careful not to fade away into the background. Paying attention to different textures is an easy tip to create visual interest.

This gorgeous Tie-Front Volume Sleeve Blouse adds lots of visual interest with the polka dot print and sheer sleeves. I love the sheer sleeves since they draw attention to the blouse every time you move your arms. You might have to ZOOM in on the other choices since black clothing can make it hard to see the details.

Since the top had texture, I kept the pants smooth. These Modern Slim Straight Pants can be worn at any time of the year since they are a classic style. I love the pull-on waist, which means no buttons or zippers to be bothered with.

Easy Tips For Wearing All Black Without Looking Boring – Details Matter

I’m wearing a pair of Slingback Pumps with a sparkly black bow detail. These pumps add a tac more interest to the outfit and give it a festive, holiday vibe. They are also available in bone and wine if black isn’t something you need.

Now for the fun!!! The photos of this Leopard Jacquard Blazer do not do it justice. The gold color is metallic, so the blazer shines as you move around the room.

The blazer looks great with the all black outfit, but it would also look great with bone/ivory and chocolate brown. It definitely adds plenty of pizzazz, and no one will ever accuse you of being boring while you’re wearing this blazer. But, even though the blazer is an attention-getter, don’t forget to add a bright lip to your outfit. The blazer brightens up your outfit, and a red lip will brighten up your face. I’m wearing a NARS lip crayon in the color Dragon Girl.

Did you notice that the tip was the same as before? That’s because the tips don’t change, and they are easy to replicate in other outfits. This outfit has different textures on the top and bottom. The pants are velvet, and the top is a stretchy sweater material.

Here is a better look at the All Over Embellished Sweater. The name of the sweater is a little deceiving since the back of the sweater does NOT have the rhinestone embellishment. You can’t see from the photo, but the rhinestones are set in gold which is different and a nice detail.

Here we have texture and details all in one item. The Velvet Fly Front Pants have a luxurious feeling and look, and the sequin side stripe adds a lot of visual interest. You can wear these pants for any dressy occasion, but they would look great for Christmas or New Year’s Eve.

You might have noticed that a Teddy Bear or Long Boucle Coat is a modern trend with a vintage feel. I love this coat, and it is so soft and cozy without being too heavy. This is a great coat to wear with a dress or jeans, so I’m sure you will wear it a lot this winter.

Here is a close up photo of the texture of the coat. It is double-breasted, and a medium fits me great. Notice how the Lip Pencil brightens up this photo! When wearing all black, you need to add a pop of color somewhere. If you don’t want to wear red lips, think about red nails or a bright-colored handbag or shoes.

I agree, often I find an item in the drugstore that is precisely the correct color, texture, and much lower priced than the fancy brands.
