FALL JEANS I RECOMMEND FOR 2021
What jeans are in style this fall? Will I look like I’m trying too hard if I wear the latest trends? Can I still wear my skinny jeans? I know that you are wondering what jeans to buy and wear this fall, so I will help you navigate all the styles and figure out what is best for you by recommending my favorite fall jeans for 2021.
Navigating all the different styles and trends can be overwhelming; believe me, I know. So, take a deep breath and relax because I will make this super easy and stress-free for you.
I’ve been playing around with several styles, and these are the fall jeans that I recommend for 2021.
TRENDS
So, what is a trend? According to Vocabulary.com, A trend is what’s hip or popular at a certain point in time. While a trend usually refers to a certain style in fashion, it simply reflects what seems to be going around at any given time.
In fashion, trends cycle, and what is hot and popular this year might be on the shelf next year. Remember stirrup pants? Man, I loved that style, but it is not what is trending now, so wearing them will make me look dated. But, if you love a particular style, keep it because trends do come back around quite often.
Before I start, I want to give a disclaimer of sorts. You should always wear what you like and what looks good on you. Part of feeling confident in your clothing is thinking that you look good. If you wear something because it is in style or trending, and you absolutely hate the way you look or feel in it, then your confidence level will plummet.
SKINNY JEANS
Because skinny jeans have been so popular in the past few years, I will start with these. If you haven’t already gotten the memo, skinny jeans are on a downward slope in the fashion world. However, you should NOT go into your closet and clear out all of your skinny jeans. That is way too costly, and you will probably still find ways to wear them this fall, especially with knee boots.

Snakeskin and Knee Boots with Black Skinny Jeans
Another way that you can still wear your skinny jeans and still look modern is by paying attention to your shoes. The latest trends in footwear can make a huge difference in how your jeans look. Lug sole shoes and boots are definitely having a moment, as well as hiking and Chelsea boots. One of my favorite ways to style skinny jeans is with sneakers. Fashion sneakers are very popular right now, and they look great with skinny jeans. Showing a tiny bit of ankle is a key to keeping you modern looking, so try to have your jeans hit at the ankle or a tiny bit above it.
The wash and rise of your skinny jeans are also something to pay close attention to. Darker wash jeans look better in the fall, and light wash jeans look best in the summer. You can always choose medium-wash jeans and not have to worry about the season.
Also, high-rise jeans are trending, so that is what I would stick to wearing. However, I read where lower rise jeans could be taking an upswing, so keep that in the back of your mind.
If you have never been able to wear skinny jeans in the first place, you are probably ready to see that trend go by the wayside. Either way, you might want to start looking at straight-leg jeans for your next purchase. Keep an open mind and try new things. This will keep you from getting stuck in a style rut, leading you to look dated and out of style.
STRAIGHT-LEG JEANS
Straight-leg jeans are a classic style and for a good reason. Straight-leg jeans are easy to wear for almost all body types, and they are usually very comfortable and casual. The way that straight-leg jeans fit is the leg is cut straight and does not taper below the knee. This is great for wearing ankle booties this coming fall.
Graphic Tee and Straight-Leg Jeans
Straight-fit jeans are different from straight-leg jeans Straight-fit jeans leg openings are the same width at the top of the leg as they are at the bottom. Don’t confuse this with the wide or stove-pipe jeans since that look is oversized and looser. The straight-fit jean cut is closer to the body and looks more fitted above the knee and looser below the knee.

LOOSE FIT AND RELAXED FIT JEANS
Because I am talking about the cut of the jeans themselves, looser-fitting jeans are definitely the trend. This style has taken me some time to adjust to, especially since I was so used to wearing skinny jeans that fit extremely close to the skin.
Cable-knit sweater and loose-fitting jeans
The Loose-fitting jean is probably the BIGGEST jean trend right now. So, if your budget only allows for one or two pairs of new jeans, this might be the style that you try. Loose-fitting jeans are more comfortable and roomy than tighter-fitting jeans. That is a big plus, but they can also be harder to style. Pay attention to the type of loose-fitting jeans you purchase because they can range from baggy and oversized to simply a tiny bit loose.
An example of the size difference is the Boyfriend jean and the Girlfriend jean. The boyfriend jean is much more baggy and loose-fitting than the girlfriend jean. I prefer the girlfriend jeans that sit a little closer to my body over the boyfriend jean. If you are just trying this trend, then you might want to try that style first.
Cowl-neck sweater and Girlfriend Jeans
Either style that you choose will probably look better with a slimmer-fitting top. The rule of thumb is loose on the bottom, then slimmer on top, and vice-versa. That doesn’t mean that you can’t still wear a cardigan or jacket with them, but be careful of choosing something too big or oversized.
Feminine top and Boyfriend Jeans
If you don’t have a slimmer top, try tucking in your top or tying a knot at the waist. Even wearing a belt with a half-tuck will make a world of difference. Experiment to see what works best for you.
FLARE JEANS
You might have noticed that vintage styles are having a moment right now. Mom jeans were popular in the 80s, and the flare jeans of the 70s are also back. Both of these jeans have been updated with a modern look. One of my favorite silhouettes is flare jeans.
Flare Jeans and Olive Corduroy Jacket
Flare jeans can be a crop flare or a full-length flare, and both of them have a more subtle flare than the huge flare of the 70s. The crop flare jeans look great since they show the ankle, and they look fabulous with a fashion sneaker, heels, or booties. I’ve noticed that the length of the flare jeans tends to be extra long, so be sure to check out the inseam before you hit the add to cart button. The longer lengths look wonderful with platform chunky boots, which are tending, and a pointed toe, whether a boot or heel, will give you a polished look that will elongate your leg and make them look a mile long!
Linen Tank and Crop Flare Jeans
Those are a few of my top styles for jeans in 2021. But, don’t get stressed, remember, fashion is supposed to be fun. I want you to feel confident in your fashion choices and look modern and relevant. Stressed out is not a good look for anyone, so relax and try a few styles at a time to see what you like best.

Great info on the jeans. I needed a reminder of each style. The best to you.
I’m glad that you enjoyed the post!
I’m so glad the graphic t-shirt you chose to show was from “THE CHOSEN”. Great way to spread the word! I always enjoy reading the scripture you add in all your blogs.
I love The Chosen! It is a fabulous show!
What is it about pink with animal print? I love them together. Love the yellow look and your shoe choice is alway so good. I’m inspired.
That scripture reminds me how we need to fill our soul as well as our body every day. 🙏🏻
Funny story, I went to visit my 88 yr old mother in Texas a few weeks ago and of course we went shopping. I was going to get a pair of really cute flair legged pants, but thought, no, they are too young for me. My mom says “What do you have there?” I show her the cute jeans and said “I think I’m going to put them back.” She said “If your not going to get them, I am!” Long story short, she got the jeans and looks ADORABLE in them! You look great in all of these, Tania, as usual!
Love all of these outfits but I must say your hair is the star here! Would love to see the back of it!
Info needed on the leopard print blazer. I have been looking for something like this.
Carla, you can click on the title under each photo to go to that post. However, I remember that particular blazer, and it was from J.Crew Factory. However, it sold out last year.
