FEARING THE STORM
On Friday I was emailing a fellow blog reader that I have gotten to know about a few things. She mentioned to me that her son was critically ill. That stopped me in my tracks! I had previously seen a picture of her (I don’t know how old the picture was) when she was happy and obviously having fun. It was easy to make the assumption that it was only rainbows and gumdrops in her life and that there weren’t any storms on the horizon. But, I was wrong.
Her son has a pancreatic disease and there is no known cure or treatment. He is also in a great deal of pain but still manages to go to work daily. There is an experimental treatment that they are fighting with the insurance companies to receive. There is hope! I told her that I was praying for her son and her entire family (I am) and to let me know if there was anything I could do. Praying is all “I” know how to do because I know that God is the ONE that can heal her son.
You can tell that this has weighed on my mind. The song by Ryan Stevenson, Eye of the Storm, keeps playing in my mind.
When the Solid Ground is falling out from underneath my feet
In the Eye of the Storm, YOU Remain in Control
In the Middle of The War, YOU Guard my Soul
YOU alone are the anchor when my sails are torn
YOUR love surrounds me In The Eye of the Storm
In Biblical times there were storms that raged. Their boats were often tossed about by the waves and I am sure they feared storms. In Mark, Chapter 4, the disciples were terrified and thought that their ship was going to sink. They cried out to Jesus to save them from the storm.
Mark 4:39: “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
We have all had storms in our lives. Financial, marital, children, health, job stability, or a host of other storms can toss us around and leave us feeling like we are sinking. Like the disciples, we need to cry out to the Lord. Help, save and deliver us from the terrifying situation we face.
“There will be a booth for shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.’ – Isaiah 4:6.

Have a Blessed Day!!!
Great song and reminder of who is acutually in control.
Just sent prayers. They are more important than we realize sometimes. I recently helped a dear friend at church set up a watchman prayer chain for her 12 year old nephew with leukemia whose last chance was a bone marrow transfusion. Nothing touched my heart more than hearing he is now cancer free. We never know how God will use us. Blessings to all!
will keep your friend and her family in my prayers…
I too, will be praying for this family. Thank you Tania for reminding us all about the the ‘storms’ and that God is always with us. He is the healer! Have a Blessed day!
Praying for your friend’s family! Love to read your Sunday posts!
Will be praying for this family. You are so right. God is the Great Physician and Healer. Will also be praying for their medical staff for wisdom and guidance.
We’ll said. I will say a prayer for your friend and her son. I needed this post today. Thank you for helping me to re- focus on giving it all to Him.
We never know what storms or trials people face. I have had a couple storms that were very tough. I thank God they were not health related. I also thank God for them as I’m a stronger person now. Since my experiences I have learned to pray more for other people as you never know what they may be going through. I will definitely pray for your friend’s son. You are a blessing Tania. Keep doing what you are doing. I enjoy your Sunday posts. ~Lisa~
