FLORALS AND A DRESS TO START THE NEW YEAR
I hope everyone had a great New Year. I’ve heard it said that what you do on the first day of the year is what you will do the whole year long. So, I tried to make sure that I called my mom and dad, plus all of my children. Mom laughed and said that she is going to be expecting a call daily now.
Joe and I didn’t do anything much, we just enjoyed the day, took a short nap, and watched some NetFlix later that night. While that doesn’t sound super exciting, I can’t say that I would hate it if that was how my entire year went. Lol! However, Lucy Lu isn’t too thrilled about her first day of the year since I gave her a bath. She is sure hoping a bath is not on her agenda every day this year.
This morning, I am making my agenda for the day in an effort to be more productive and to quit wasting so much time. I’m trying to drink a gallon of water, but I find that hard to do. Plus, Joe is not a fan of me drinking so much water since I wake him up at night when I head to the bathroom. Lol! And, I’m dragging out my winter coats again and putting away the short-sleeved shirts. It was 70 degrees here on Saturday, and in the 30s on Sunday. Welcome to winter in Virginia!
If you didn’t read Saturday’s blog, I had a small survey at the end of the post. You can still take the survey since I’ve not had time to gather all of the information together yet. I have read some of the responses, and all I can say is, “there is no way that I can please everyone!” It is funny how the very thing that someone loves about the blog is the thing that someone else would like to see go away. We are all different, have different wants and needs, different budgets, and different beliefs. I appreciate everyone’s patience as I sift through all of the information.
Several ladies mentioned in the survey that they would like to see more dresses and work attire. I don’t feature a lot of dresses, especially in the fall and winter, but I recently came across this gorgeous floral midi dress and thought you would love it. I loved the print and the dark colors of the dress, and I also loved that it was sooo long. I know my petite ladies will hate that part of the dress though, so I’ll show more dresses below. I’m wearing a size 1 dress, and it fits me great.
This dress’s print is so pretty that I really didn’t need to add a necklace, but of course, I did. Lol! I finally brought the rest of my jewelry from Grundy to the new house, so maybe I’ll quit wearing the same things over and over again. However, these statement hoop earrings will still be on the blog because they are my FAVORITE!!! The layering necklaces are sold out, so I’ll try to link other necklaces instead.
Several of you commented on my survey that heels weren’t your thing. I get it, as we get older, our feet change, swell, and our ankles aren’t as strong. So, wearing heels can be a challenge for many of you. When I wear heels, which I LOVE, I will try to link to similar items or ones that I think will look just as good. These heels are a pair that I bought earlier in the fall, and they are no longer available. Here are some similar ones that you might like instead.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you will see me put up a reel of me trying different shoes with this dress. I’ll link to those shoes for you now. Fringe Ankle Boots // Tall Suede Boots

I love your blog! Somehow I have not yet learned how to look this put together, but I would still love to figure it out, and you are certainly an inspiration to me! I love that you have all price ranges of style ideas, so I can find something that works for me!
Hi Tania! Love the dress! Thanks for your devotionals and bible verses. They make my day better.
This dress looks wonderful on you! I wanted to let you know how glad I am that you continue to style larger jewelry pieces! I have so much jewelry that I love to wear but it seemed like everything was going in a very dainty trend. I’m glad that does not seem to be the case. Great look today!
I LOVED your hair today
That is such a pretty dress that you look so nice in, Tania! I think a choker necklace would also look good with it.
Hi Tania! I love the dress. Are the colors terracotta and navy or red orange and black? The reason I ask is that I need a pretty dress with the colors of terracotta and navy and it seems hard to find. I would appreciate it if you could help me with this. Thanks!
Anita, it is terracotta and black.
It’s the shoes matching a lighter color in the dress instead of my first instinct to grab black that makes it possible for shortish me to wear a long dress. Okay, that made sense when I typed it, not so much when I read it back. 😗
It makes sense to me! Lol! I like wearing lighter colors on my feet. They do elongate your legs, make you look taller, and don’t draw as much attention to the feet.
Hey Tania!! Love your Dress! I am a petite lady. If it were the right length, I would wear it. It’s beautiful!! I hope my comments are getting to you. When I send to 50isnotod.com it asked for a URL. When I put https://50isnotod.com it does not show up in your comments. So I don’t know what to do. If you see this please reply to me that you got it. Thanks and have a Great Day!! …Linda…
Linda, your comments come through fine. All comments have to be approved by me before they show up, so that can take a while depending on how busy I am. I appreciate that you take the time to comment 🙂
Gorgeous dress! Very stylish…
Happy New Year
Happy New Year to you too, Julia
That dress is lovely and fits you perfectly. You look beautiful in that dress!
I love the dress too! It is gorgeous colors.
I love to wear dresses! This one is so pretty.
I have not been following you for very long, so I don’t know the story about your move. Can you direct me to a post to fill me in, please?
Joan, I can’t remember a post that I’ve talked about the move specifically. Basically, our house is in the flood zone in Grundy, and it is slated to be bought from us. We just went ahead and moved instead of waiting until the last minute. If for some reason they don’t buy us out, then we can decide which house to sell at that time.
Tania, I really love your blog! I totally agree that you can’t please everyone and you shouldn’t try to do that! I love your blog because you are so relatable and it fits this season in life where I am not working full time anymore. Keep doing what you are doing!
Jennifer, I am a people pleaser at heart, so it kills me when I can’t please everyone. 🙁
While I don’t wear 3” heels any longer, I love the femininity of kitten heels and have many pairs. I feel the still elevate what I’m wearing without appearing frumpy, and are super feminine. Just my 2 cents😁
I love kitten heels too, so I try to link to those when I can. It gives the look without the height.
I FINALLY GOT A PAIR OF THE HOOP EARRINGS! i had to go to neiman marcus for them, but I’ve been searching for gold color for so long!
Krista, those earrings are my favorite and I wear them all of the time. Kendra Scott, Amazon, and Zappos have been sold out of them for a while, and Neiman Marcus was the only place that I could find them. Thankfully, they are the same price at NM as the other stores.
I love the dress, you look beautiful! Happy New Year to you and your family
Thanks, Sue! I figured that everyone needs a dress, even if only occasionally.
I absolutely enjoy and love wearing dresses for church! I wear nursing scrubs all day for work, and am casual cozy at home.
However hardly anybody wears a dress to church anymore and I feel overdressed. I know God doesn’t care what you wear as long as you come, but I think it shows respect to wear your Sunday best as the old going says.
Kim, wearing dresses to church is how I was raised, and I can’t make myself wear pants either. Lol!
Beautiful dress. I hear others on the heels but let’s be honest that’s what make the outfit look stylish and fresh. Flats take away from the stylish look. Keep up the great work I love your emails and look forward to them every day.
I love heels too, but I also loved the dress with the boots. I’ll upload that video to IG later tonight.
