50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40It is hard to get back into your normal routine once you have been gone for a few days. When I got back from Florida on Tuesday night I was exhausted. It is just tiring to be in an airport and going from flight to flight plus, I had another 2-hour drive from the airport to the house. I went to bed pretty early and slept in until 9:00 am on Wednesday. It was pouring the rain when I woke up and I just snuggled back down under the covers and told Joe that I wasn’t moving for a while. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40 Once I finally got up and came into the kitchen, Joe declared me “spoiled.” I don’t know why he said that since I simply asked where my breakfast was. Lol! Every morning when I was in Florida I would wake up to the smell of breakfast being fixed. I would throw on my robe and waddle my bottom up the stairs to find the kitchen filled with lots of ladies and our chef busily preparing breakfast. It was like being a child all over again where all you have to do is get up and someone else is doing the cooking and the cleaning. I told him that I wasn’t spoiled, I was just being my inner child. Hahaha! He might have mumbled something about getting put in time out for having a smart mouth but I am sure I misunderstood him. Now, to get back on my diet and try and lose all of those extra pounds I found while I was away. I have to fit in a dress for a convention in about three weeks and it is TIGHT! It is back to a diet of chicken and baked sweet potatoes for me. What is your go-to food when you are wanting to lose weight?
50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40I am a person that is all about wearing lots of bright and colorful items. When it comes to darker colors, my wardrobe is bare. I recently got this black top by Trouve in my Trunk Club shipment and I was actually thrilled. This top is sleeveless (you might have already noticed that) but that makes it easy to wear under jackets, cardigans, etc., and I like the lapel neckline. This type of neckline looks dressier to me and it especially looks good with a blazer. The draped front also is a dressier feature and it has a turned under hemline. I just can’t recall what this type hemline is called. This is one of those staple items that you will be able to wear over and over again with lots of different items. 50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40I added a tiny bit of bling to my outfit without it being too over-the-top. My earrings are a tiny rhinestone knot design called the Mason. They have been one of my favorites because they look just as nice when I wear them with jeans. The necklace is new though and this might be my first time wearing it on the blog. It is the Paloma crescent necklace with rhinestones. It is on a chain with champagne-colored crystals and it is 32-34″ long. This is much nicer looking in person than the pictures show. The Ezra (dark gray) and the Chalon (clear) set in silver are two “bling” bracelets that I wear a lot because they go with anything. I also like the magnetic clasp which makes them super easy to put on and take off.50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40 These wide leg pants are super cute with their crazy dot print. I thought they were black and white but they look navy and white in this photo. Whatever, they are a deep rich color and they look very professional. These feature a higher waist and they fit true to size, I am wearing a large. They are 100% polyester and it says to dry clean them. That might be a deal breaker if you are like me. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40Overall, I like this look. You could dress it up more with a nice blazer or make it more casual by throwing on a jean jacket. You just need to decide what your style is and what fits your lifestyle best. If you work outside the home in an office then you would go more toward the dressier side. I doubt if I would be wearing this around the house but I would wear this out to dinner or to a small party. You have to have a couple of outfits stuck back in your closet for a “date night” just in case. I know in the past that when Joe and I would be going out to eat that I couldn’t find anything in my closet to wear. Can you believe that? Lol!!! Things sure have changed!50 IS NOT OLD | GETTING BACK INTO A ROUTINE | FASHION OVER 40

My sister and I talk about how we both waited until we were in our 50’s before we decided to launch new careers. I found this listing on Facebook yesterday and I found it interesting. Whatever your dream is, it is not too late to achieve it. You aren’t a failure because you haven’t found fame and fortune. It’s okay if you don’t even know what your dream is yet. Even if you’re flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where you’ll end up tomorrow.

“At age 23, Tina Fey was working at a YMCA.
At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job.
At age 24, Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer.
At age 27, Vincent Van Gogh failed as a missionary and decided to go to art school.
At age 28, J.K. Rowling was a suicidal single parent living on welfare.
At age 30, Harrison Ford was a carpenter.
At age 30, Martha Stewart was a stockbroker.
Julia Child released her first cookbook at age 39 and got her own cooking show at age 51.
Vera Wang failed to make the Olympic figure skating team, didn’t get the Editor-in-Chief position at Vogue, and designed her first dress at age 40.
Samuel L. Jackson didn’t get his first movie role until he was 46.
Morgan Freeman landed his first MAJOR movie role at age 52.
Grandma Moses didn’t begin her painting career until age 76.
Louise Bourgeois didn’t become a famous artist until she was 78.

Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it.
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.
Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough.
You can do it. Whatever it is.”
