Great Denim Skirts You’re Sure To Love

I’ve tried many denim skirts over the past year, but this one is my favorite. I love the length—it is not too long or too short, and the fabric is not too stretchy or too stiff. This Patch Pocket Button Front Denim Skirt will be a staple for me all year round.

If I had to choose one length of denim skirt, I would choose a knee-length one as it’s the most versatile. It would be so easy to dress up or down, and you could wear it in any season. Style it with a tee shirt and white sneakers now; a tank layered with a cardigan and booties throughout the fall, and a sweater with knee-high boots in the winter.

I tried out this unusual maxi-length denim skirt from Gap. It would be an excellent option for chilly fall and winter days and nights, as it provides a lot of leg coverage, especially if worn with knee boots. The combination of the super high waist and the asymmetrical seam makes a very flattering silhouette. I love the fun, raw hem at the bottom and the darker wash. It does run a little big, so consider sizing down when ordering.
You know that I love Talbots! This pencil skirt has a chic front slit that adds a bit of sass, right up my alley! The five-pocket styling is practical—you can stash all your essentials without needing a purse. And with that hint of stretch, it’s comfy enough for a full day of shopping. Available in Petite, Regular, and Plus sizes.
I love the sailor vibe! The A-line silhouette is super flattering, and it hits just above the knee, which is great for showing off a bit of leg without being too short. This would be great for a weekend getaway when you need to elevate your style a bit but want to keep it casual. With that little bit of stretch, it’s comfy enough for a car ride or to sit for a long lunch. Pair it with a pair of metallic sandals to go with the buttons!
What turns this from a simple denim skirt to a head-turner is the slits at the front and back. it’s perfect for showing a little leg while staying classy. I love the slant pockets in the front and patch pockets in the back. This would be a great transitional skirt. Pair it with sandals or sneakers now, and rights and boots later! Plus, it’s made in a factory that supports women’s empowerment—how cool is that?
Great Denim Skirts You’re Sure To Love
This high-waisted beauty is perfect for a breezy summer day. It’s got a cute frayed hem and a comfy elastic waist at the back, making it super easy to pull on. And those pockets? So handy for keeping a phone or some extra cash. You can pair it with a fun tee for a casual look or dress it up with a blouse and blazer for work. Joe would definitely approve of the price—he loves a good deal!
This is by the same company, but has the addition of the front pockets. I’m a fan! It even comes with a cute removable belt, so you can mix and match it with your favorite tops. I can see myself wearing this in a ton of ways – lunch with friends, running errands, coffee with Ashleigh. Those patch pockets on the front are just right for slipping in keys or a bit of lipstick. Plus, the center back slit? Perfect for ease of movement. No penguin walking because of a tight skirt, lol. It comes in several washes, too.
I LOVE the look of this skirt. I’m a fan of dark wash, anyway, but the front seams make this extra chic. Plus, the flat-elastic waistband means it would be super comfy and easy to wear! The soft denim with a bit of stretch makes it perfect for moving around, whether you’re out shopping or having lunch with friends. Plus, it would hug the curves without feeling tight. It comes in three other washes, including black!
Great Denim Skirts You’re Sure To Love -Walmart
Here’s a great find from Walmart! This stylish skirt is perfect for summer afternoons, hitting just below the knee for a flattering look. The back vent makes it easy to move around, whether you’re out for coffee with friends or spending the day shopping. I love the raw hem—it adds a bit of fun to the classic denim look. I think Joe would definitely give this one a thumbs-up for style and comfort! He’s never against seeing a bit of leg. Ha! (It also comes in a bunch of colors, so yay!)
Want something with a bit of “flare”? lol. This high-waisted, flared midi skirt is great for a vintage look and so easy to pair with your favorite tops. I love the washed denim fabric and the pleated design—it’s got such a lovely detail that stands out. It comes in a couple of other washes, too. And as usual, Walmart allows you to look stylish without breaking the bank!
Great Denim Skirts You’re Sure To Love -Ralph Lauren
From Walmart to Ralph Lauren! What can I say—I live to bring you a wide range of fashion choices, lol. This is a true classic. I love the length, the tie belt, and, of course, the pockets! Like the others, this would be a great transition piece as the temperature drops. You can wear it with leather sandals now, then with booties or tall boots. A Ralph Lauren skirt is pricier, but you’ll keep this in the closet for YEARS.
Okay, Gurls. Do you own a denim skirt? I think they’re a classic. What say you?

I’m so happy to see that denim skirts are back in style..
Wore denim skirts a lot, all lengths, in my 20’s and 30’s. I still like them, just not any longer than right below the knee. Back in the 80’s, when I began my student teaching, the supervising teacher told absolutely no denim skirts!
I love denim skirts! I think what I love best is that they allow me to wear a more statement making top without being too dressed up for my casual lifestyle.
Do you think their popularity will continue for fall/winter and beyond?
Love your blog, this is my first time commenting.
I have been considering getting a denim skirt, thanks for the great suggestions
Love the denim skirt!! Such a classic fun look!
Thank you for your verses each day!!!
I like the sailor aline shirt.
All very cute! I had given away my denim skirts several years ago but just broke down and bought another one from Lands End that I am waiting on to arrive. Hope it works well for now and fall!
I, too, love denim skirts! They are so easy to style and I have some from the first time they were in style! You showed us some excellent choices! Thanks!!
These remind me of some of my favorite teaching outfit! Denim skirts are great!
Love the Talbot’s skirt😊
Great Fall choice! Denim skirts! Classic!!
I don’t own a denim skirt anymore. I guess I feel that they are for the younger generations!
No, no, no, Gayle! They aren’t only for the young-un’s!
I love the high rise denim skirt! it looks great with the white tank and cardigan.
denim skirts are always in style it seems!
Denim skirts seem too hot for 80-to-90-degree weather, so a wear later style for me. The knee length skirt to be worn with knee high boots is just so 1980s. I bought Frye boots (when they were affordable) and paired them with a knee length brown cord skirt from the Gap.
Yes I am a fan of denim skirts. I own 3 denim skirts. One I recently bought at the JCrew factory store. It was the only skirt left in a size 2 at additional 70 percent off (that’s a real sale.) It was just there waiting for me. The A-line one is old from Petite Sophisticate. That store has long closed but I keep the skirt as a reminder when a whole store had stylish petite clothing. My other midi denim skirt is from Banana Republic factory also bought at a great price of 5 bucks. I could use one with front buttons like the one you’re styling.
Such a nice option to jeans!
Love the flared denim!
So happy you had a great get-away! Looks amazing! I bet I had at least 5 of these denim skirts over the years. I loved them! Funny how everything comes back around.
They look so pretty. Thanks for ideas on how to style them. Glad you had fun.
Such a great variety of looks in denim.
I love denim skirts. Thanks for showing different options
Just bought the denim skirt from Talbots online, got it last night, and will try it on later today. Had success with finds at Nordstrom (Jones New York). Didn’t want the skirt down to my ankles or at my knees but I did want it below my knees, nor did I want a frayed hem skirt – to each their own!
Cute options!
My closet may be seeing a few of these skirts! I love denim skirts!!!!
I love the skirts on you but with a pear shape not sure I could carry it off. I am 67 and wear size 10 P Talbot’s clothing. I have trouble finding clothing that fit nicely over my tummy area or don’t call attention to it. After 3 c sections and having weighed over 200 lbs. till losing it 19 years ago, I have extra skin and extra weight below my waist and a roll above. Do you have suggestions for hiding tummy weight? I never wear sleeveless due to flabby arms and don’t tuck shirts in so looking as cute as you is challenging.
Thanks I’m not a skirt lover. Glad you had an awesome time on that getaway.
Love the skirts!
Love denim skirts but unfortunately I am Petite so skirts below my knee make me look frumpy. Love how everything looks fabulous on you!
Dorthy, Talbots carries petites, so it would be the right length for you.
I love a good denim skirt. Thanks for the reviews.
Denim skirts? Yes! So many cute looks!
Cute!!!!!
These denim skirts very versatile – dressy or not so dressy. I love options.
Love the Talbots white skirt!
Isn’t it gorgeous!?!
