HOW MUCH LONGER UNTIL WE GET THERE

How much longerDo you have faith? Faith to believe in something that is felt but not seen? Since my Sunday posts are faith-based, I assume that most of you answered YES to those questions. Even though I consider myself someone who has faith, there are times when my faith wavers, and I bet yours does also.

My faith doesn’t waver when it comes to believing that there is a God and He knows my name. That is one of those written in stone beliefs, and I don’t waver from that. However, faith isn’t only about believing there is a God, but also about having the faith to trust Him in every situation.

I bet you have heard the saying, “a watched pot never boils.” Basically, that means that when you are waiting for something to happen, it feels like it takes forever. When my two youngest children were small, we would travel back and forth to visit my parents who lived five hours away. I tried to explain how long it would take to reach our destination, but I heard, “how much longer until we get there” over and over and over again. Telling my children that we had three more hours was like telling them how to build a watch, it went over their heads.

I finally came up with a way to help them understand the concept of time. They loved watching certain children’s shows, and each one of them was 30 minutes long. So when they would ask how much longer, I might say, 3 Full Houses and 3 Barneys. They still didn’t understand how long that was going to be, but they knew that it was going to take a while, but we would eventually get where we were going.

How many of us are like my children? We pray and ask God for an answer, and if we don’t hear something back in a short period of time, we start to whine and say, “how much longer?” How much longer until You guide me to a new job? How much longer until I see the healing? How much longer until I start to hear Your voice?

When you are looking at Eternity, time isn’t an issue. The Lord doesn’t run on a time schedule as we do, so His answer might be five years down the road when we wanted the answer last week. The big key to waiting is FAITH. Faith that the answer WILL come even if the timeframe is dragging on forever.

Yesterday’s Verse of the Day:

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

is what made me start thinking about faith. God gave us His Son, and Christ died on the cross for us WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS. God didn’t say that He would give His Son when we changed our lives around. He didn’t say that He would die on the cross when we were saved. God had faith enough to give His Son while we were still sinners, but I wonder if He asks, “how much longer will they keep going down that wrong path?” “How much longer will they lie, cheat, and steal?” “How much longer?”

God is waiting on us, and I have the faith to believe that one day I will be meeting with Him in Heaven. I hope He looks at me and says, “what took you so long, I’ve been waiting on you!”

To God Goes The Glory!

Have A Blessed Day!

  4. Tania, Loved this post. This is definitely me. I do have faith but I pray everyday for 3 certain things for myself and I keep wondering how much longer it is going to be for God to answer me or open a door. Or has he already and I just overlooked it the answer because I wasn’t sure it ws God or Satan!!

    1. Dianne, I certainly hope you get the answers you are asking for soon.

Oh I love this.. even after being a Christian my entire life I wish the Lord could tell me it will only be 2 Monks, 3 48 Hours and 1 BlueBloods away until you get an answer. That analogy really made me smile and confirms that you are not only pretty but that you are a pretty smart cookie.

    1. Lol! I’m sure they got sick of how many Full Houses it was going to take.

FAITH – Forsaking all I trust Him

    1. That is a great acronym.
