HOW TO ADD A KIMONO TO YOUR OUTFIT
I can’t believe that I am going to say this…my daughter is leaving and going to Alaska. Those were words that I didn’t think that I would be saying again, but we all know how things can change in a moments notice. It is funny the things that we will do for money, and in this case, she is going to be working on a commercial fishing boat for the summer. Can you even imagine???
Ashleigh will be the only female on the boat, which is not surprising. However, I feel a little better, knowing that her ex-boyfriend is the captain and owner of the boat. This is the same ex-boyfriend that drove across the country with her back in November, so I think that he will watch out for her. But, the momma in me has questions like, why would he want to hire her as a crew member, why would she want to go to work on a fishing boat, and are they finished as a couple? Am I crazy here, do any of the rest of you think this is strange???
My linen outfit is an old one. I have had it for about three years, and I still wear it a lot in the summer. I love wearing linen in the summer since it cool. I wear the pants way more than I do the top, but I also like wearing them together occasionally. I bought the entire outfit at Belk’s, and the brand is New Direction.

What a beautiful outfit. Kimonos are so popular now and its beautiful! I know what you mean about Ashleigh going back to Alaska, but I’m predicting that couple IS NOT done yet!
Hear her roar!
I hope things work out well for Ashley. I’ll bet she’s the only R&F consultant who also works on a fishing boat in Alaska!!
Lovely outfit as always! Good thoughts for Ashley, sounds like a exciting opportunity!
I love the Kimono! My kids are in Portland and Mexico City, I feel your pain! Your daughter is a brave girl, I don’t think I would want to work on a fishing boat. What a exciting experience for her!
I say go for it! She’s a wise and smart girl by reading your post,so she’s still young for this day and time.Have fun now, there’s nothing wrong with being close friends with your x boyfriend,my son is still very good friends with his x girlfriend of 4 years.Live life, it could be gone tomorrow.
Beautiful kimono. I bought my first one recently from Chico’s and have decided they are a perfect item to have if you’re like me and tend to get cold even in summer. Just heavy enough. The colors in yours are so nice and can go with anything. I love your necklace too. Think I have to Pin this one. As for Ashleigh, I think maybe he’s not such an Ex after all or perhaps they are just good friends. 3 months on a boat should help them figure that out.
I have several kimono’s and I will wear them all summer long. They provide just enough coverage for cool evenings. I can’t tell about these two, they are both strange. Lol! But, they were together for over 3 years, so I guess that we will just have to wait and see.
You can let them make their own mistakes, but a bit of “counsel” never hurt anyone ( in the long run). Unless there is a future (with this man) in going backwards, it’s not a good goal. Move on, move forward. It doesn’t sound like a good idea unless money is the ultimate goal. It’s not ” feminist” these days but reality / truth hits and hurts: Tick tick tick tock… time flies and young now is old right around the corner. Time is moving forward, other people are moving forward and she is moving backward? My son is 30 and women his age are rushing relationships- frantic that time is getting away from them—It’s not a good look and he is looking at younger women now who have the time to grow their relationship – it’s not fair that women have an expiration fertility date and men are carefree- but it’s reality. If a family isn’t in her plan- then there’s no problem and she can fish for real fish all the live long day! ( My son has been busy in his twenties- getting 3 degrees and now working on his Masters in two of them-he is NOW ready to look for a long term goal of marriage and children but he wants to find the right one- not jump all in ready for a ring after a month of dating which has been his experience with 30+ women). My 23 year old daughter feels she has all the time in the world, but is starting to get concerned watching her like aged friends pairing up, getting engaged, married and pregnant. She’s picky, too, which never helps. Good luck no matter which fish she’s going after! JMHO
Pretty outfit. Very flattering! Oh what to do about our adult children? I’ve decided they have to make their own decisions and own mistakes. It’s so very hard to do though. And sometimes you still have to go and pick them up when they fall. But that’s being a mom and you can’t say “I told you so.” I definitely don’t think you’re crazy for worrying though.
Luv the outfit, it looks great on you. I’m envious of Ashleigh, I would have jumped on that boat in a heartbeat when I was her age. I hope she has a great SAFE adventure.
She has even talked about blogging about her adventure. Lol!
