HOW TO COMBAT NEGATIVITY
I am naturally a glass-half-full kind of gal. My husband tells me that I live in a tra-la-la-la-la world, and I am fine with that. I see the good in people and hardly ever see the bad. I assume that everyone is going to do the right thing, and will treat everyone fairly. Some of you will say this is naive, and I actually agree with you. But, I prefer to be occasionally disappointed, instead of looking at the negatives all the time.
With all that being said, how do you combat negativity when it comes your way? Do you know someone in your life who is a “Debbie Downer?” (Sorry if your name is Debbie, no harm intended) Are YOU that person?
I never intended for this blog to talk about issues or even be an inspirational type of service. It is supposed to be a lookbook with links to the clothing items. However, I find myself getting something on my mind, and this is a perfect outlet for me. Sorry if you are caught in the crossfire.
I had a comment on the blog a while back, that was harsh. And this one commenter on Pinterest left a comment that said I looked 60. If that wasn’t enough, they went back and said, “no 70.” One blogger I know almost quit blogging because of the mean comments that people were leaving. Thankfully she stuck it out, and is doing great now.
I know that my outfits are not all winners, and I know that I might should have worn a different pair of shoes or carried a different purse. I have never taken a fashion course and I am not an expert in anything fashion related. I simply get dressed in the morning and take a picture before I head out the door.
I hope you enjoy my outfits and can tolerate my ramblings. I have grown to love the blog, and all you gurls who participate. I feel like I now know some of you ?
Have you caught on to me being sneaky? I throw in an outfit that most of you will not like, because of the extremely distressed jeans, while doing a post on negativity. Hahaha Now you will feel bad it you don’t say something nice.
This is my laid back, take it easy, go shopping on a rainy Saturday kind of look. I bought this silky t-shirt a couple of years ago. I don’t own a lot of t-shirts, well not many that you would wear out in public. I have a lot that are my sleeping shirts and cleaning (who am I kidding, I don’t clean) shirts.

This distressed jeans are on the extreme side. I only wear these on Saturdays when I am running around town. They are soft and comfortable, but I know how most people feel about these jeans. The last time I wore these jeans, I styled them with my monogrammed sneakers. This time, I have on a pair of Chanel espadrilles that were a hand-me-down gift.

Since I was feeling a little sassy, I put on my leather cuff bracelet that says, G.R.I.T.S. That stand for Girls Raised In The South. How cute is that for this Tennessee gurl that is now living in a Virginia world?

My gray satchel is by Aimee Kestenberg. I bought mine for next to nothing because it’s shoulder strap had a malfunction. I bought it thinking if it couldn’t be fixed, then I would just carry it by the short handles, and forget the shoulder straps. I took it back to work and gave it to Gerald (he can fix anything). Five minutes later he was back, purse fixed good as new. Sometimes it pays to work in a lumber company.?
In case you were wondering about the harsh comment. I approved it, and then I smiled sweetly to myself and typed, “Thank you very much for your encouraging words.” So, how do you combat negativity? With kindness, and of course don’t forget to say, “Bless Your Heart.”

Hi Tania
I look forward to reading your blog! My Mother also taught me that if I didn’t have anything nice to say then just don’t say anything at all! Thanks for all your fashion tips and inspiration ?
Luv u Tanya, and *&@%# the negative nellies! 😉
I I always open your email at work. Ssshh don’t tell anyone. I can’t wait to see your outfit
for the day! You have inspired me to be more adventurous in my everyday look. Not to adhere
to so many rules and have a more positive fashion outlook which only inspires positive attitude in every day life.
Good vibe for an old Cali (California) girl.
Ha ha you are right, I really don’t like this outfit very much, but I love your blog, your style most of the time, your humor and way of writing. Admiring you from across the ocean (I am in Europe). Keep writing and posting. Your posts bring a smile to my face every day, whether I like your outfits or not. Thank you!
I love this! Don’t let the haters get you down you look marvelous!
While everyone is free to speak their mind … everyone should keep in mind two things … 1) if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all and 2) do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. 🙂
I, personally, find your blog full of fun and honesty and inspiration. Don’t let anyone get you down.
You are right in responding to harsh words with kindness. Sometimes people lash out because they themselves are going through something harsh and your kind words could be that one thing that gets them through it.
God bless you!
I think bloggers put themselves out there in ways that non-bloggers (me!) could never understand. With this publicity comes a sort of willingness to open yourself up to a type of criticism that the rest of us never experience. Having said that – rudeness is wrong. If you (as a blogger) write, “do you like these pants?” then obviously everyone’s not going to like them but then everyone doesn’t like red or blue or convertibles. As my mother says, “It’s not what you say but how you say it.” But if a commenter is just brutal about something – well, there’s no excuse for that and their comment should be approved but responded to as you – with grace and just a bit of “bless you”!
I might not choose to wear every outfit you style, but I love reading what you are up to and about your life! These negative commenters need to try and do your job!! Keep doing what you are doing gurl! We love it and you!
