I get a lot of comments about how I put together an outfit and decide what to order. It seems to come naturally to me, but I have picked up some tricks I can share with you. I decided to show you how I decide what to order when shopping online, and today I’m using Kohl’s as the retailer.

Let’s face it, the larger the retailer, the more items we have to choose from. That is both a good and bad thing. It is wonderful to have a lot of choices, but that can make it difficult to find what you want. Walmart, Amazon, and Nordstrom can be overwhelming, so here are the first things I do when shopping online.

The First Steps For Deciding What To Order When Shopping Online

• Have a list of your favorite retailers and know your size. My favorites are listed in the sidebar.
• Use a filter to narrow the items by category: tops, pants, jeans, etc.
• Narrow down the category by brand if necessary.
• Narrow further down by a price range.
• Finally, you can narrow on down by color or colors.

Choose a Focal Point When Deciding What To Order When Shopping Online

Look at each outfit I’ve put together and see if you can decide what I chose as the focal point of the outfit. That doesn’t mean that each item can’t be interesting; it means that I don’t want your eyes darting all over the place. I want to give you something that draws your attention first, and then to complement that item. In case you’re wondering, the star is the High-Rise Palazzo Jeans.

Every time I put on a pair of flare jeans, my husband will compliment me. Sometimes he tells me how nice I look, but most of the time he mentions that he likes the jeans. A flare jean is universally flattering for most women, so they are great jeans to have at your disposal. If you are Petite, you need to check the length of most flare jeans since they tend to be long. Here is a pair of flare jeans I found for Petites, so they are available if you search. Funny enough, the jeans aren’t the star of this outfit; it’s the speckled top. The jeans might not be available for shipment, but I have this pair by Sonoma, and they are almost identical.

What To Order When Shopping Online For An Everyday Outfit

When I’m looking for an everyday outfit, I still want it to be cute and stylish. These are the outfits you will spend the most time wearing, so comfort also plays a large role. The star of this outfit is the purple floral tunic which can be worn in tons of ways. I chose to bring out the pink by adding the leather wristlet. You may need to go outside the home, so don’t forget to grab a pair of comfortable shoes like these wedge sandals.

What To Order When Shopping Online For A Date Night Look

Date night looks can range from your everyday outfit to a special look. I tend to lean toward the special side since I want my husband to feel like I made a special effort just for him. I’m betting you spotted the star of this outfit instantly. I love the pleated wide leg pants, and it was hard to decide what top to pick since I can’t see the colors very well. I chose a top in a similar color, but cream or ivory would work great. I would probably also add a blazer or a denim jacket depending on where we were going.

What To Order When Shopping Online For Dresses

Dresses and jumpsuits are the easiest items to order online. You don’t have to do a lot of matching since you have a one-and-done item. When in doubt about what to pair with a dress or jumpsuit, fall back on neutrals. I have more nude, tan, and beige shoes and bags than any other color. They go great with anything since they don’t draw attention away from your look. Today I picked white accessories since the dress has so much of that color in the background.
