How To Look Expensive on a Budget
The mission of this blog is to help women look and feel their best at any age. I’m always aware, as I share that not everyone can afford to shop at high-dollar retailers. That’s why today I’m sharing how to look expensive on a budget. It’s all about good basics.
How To Look Expensive on a Budget – H & M
Oh my! How gorgeous is this coat? If I didn’t know better, I would think that it cost hundreds of dollars. It’s a great classic that will never go out of style. I think it’s so chic and it’s only $65 dollars! It also comes in cream if the gray is too dark.
If you don’t shop at H&M, maybe you should give it a try. I’ve found that their items are very affordable. They are always modern and fresh, too. Not that a crisp white shirt is anything new, but this one just has a nice fit. A crisp white shirt doesn’t have to be expensive. This one is just $25 dollars.
Neutrals are a great way to look expensive. I mean, there’s an entire store built around the concept of black and white! This mock turtleneck sweater looks expensive but, in truth, is just $57 dollars. There’s an alternate version where the white and black are reversed that I also really like.
Jeans can be found in just about any price range, but it’s hard to find a good pair that doesn’t look cheap. These wide-leg jeans are just the ticket. Believe it or not, they are just $30 dollars! Who needs $200 Mother jeans when these are available?!
How To Look Expensive on a Budget -J. Crew Factory
LOVE these pants. Everyone needs a nice pair of tapered black pants, and this pair from Crew Factory is just $49 dollars. The reviews are glowing, and everyone says they hang beautifully and are very comfortable. These would go with just about anything – from a casual meeting to a work event – or pair it with a silk blouse for a night on the town.
I think a cable-knit sweater is the epitome of quiet luxury. It just brings to mind a group of Kennedys sitting on a weathered deck in Hyannis Port, sipping coffee and talking about sailing. lol. I don’t think Kennedy’s shop at J. Crew Factory, but they should. This sweater is now on sale, so grab one now!

A black blazer is a wardrobe staple. Even if you are retired, there are still occasions – funerals, real estate closings, court, speaking events, etc. where a black blazer would be the right choice. Of course, you can also push the sleeves up and pair it with jeans and a nice pair of shoes for a chic but casual look.
Just look at these fabulous pumps! They are very polished and professional but so affordable! I love the black-on-black bow and the memory foam insole. No one will believe you if you tell them these are so affordable. But why would you tell them?!
How To Look Expensive on a Budget – Quince
Quince is one of my favorite online retailers. They offer great looks for less, and I’ve been very happy with my purchases. Did you know that pleated skirts are officially having a moment? When you see this skirt, you can understand why. It’s cashmere so that it won’t be as inexpensive as some, but compared to the high-dollar retailers, this is a steal at just $99 dollars. It comes in several colors if brown isn’t ringing your bell.
This leather tote bag is beautiful in navy! This is leather and could pass for a much more expensive tote than the $99 dollar price tag it has. A comparable Coach or Kate Spade would be closer to $400 dollars. This comes in a beautiful cognac as well.
I hope you’ve found something that you like! Let me know in the comments what was your favorite.

Nice looks on a budget!
I never heard of Quince before – will have to check out their website!
Oooh! That Quince skirt! 😍
I KNOW!!!
Very classy!
The white shirt is definitely my favorite. It looks very crisp, very classy.
You can nevver go wrong with a white shirt.
Love the Jamie pant. I like that it is also available in navy. I’d like to lose a few pounds before I order them though.
I know the feeling! 😊.
J Crew factory is my favorite. I just received another one of their blazers. Never disappointed with the quality. I think I am going to try Quince for sweaters. It’s hard to get in the mood for sweaters when it’s still so hot. I’m so over this hot weather. Thanks for all the options.
It’s actually gotten cooler here, finally! Hope your temperature drops soon. ❤️
Being on a fixed income, I have to shop very frugally. Thank you for sharing a few ways we can do that!

Thanks for the great post. I’ve put the Jamie Pants into my cart.
Those are some classy choices. Even though here in Canada, the only store that we share is H&M. However, your ideas still can be carried through with other retailers.
Thank you for showing a wide range of clothing prices in your posts. I’ve dropped bloggers who seem to show only higher-priced items. There should be something for everyone, and you do a good job with this.
Thanks, Nancy. I try!
I love the classics, especially the Quince pleated skirt…

Sharon, I keep ordering from Quince too! I love the woven tote. It is a very large tote, so it is perfect for everyday or for carrying lots of items to ballgames, etc.
Wow!!! So many cute things! I love H&M! I also love ZARA, but we don’t have one here…Happy Tuesday❤
Alison, I don’t have much of anything near me. That is why I order almost everything online.

Love the mock turtlenecks you featured. I’ve never purchased from Appleseed, but going to give it a try.
I don’t think I’ve seen you show JCP clothing before, maybe I just missed it. They have some very nice looking pieces at fantastic prices.
Kathryn, I’ve been doing a post with JCP pretty much once a month.
I love H & M – nice, classic looks!
Great tips for shopping elsewhere. I love JCrew especially. I rarely go into my JCP store, maybe I should take a look.
I rarely go into JCP because they don’t carry a lot. Online has way more items.
