How To Style A Blazer Casual Or Dressy
Yesterday, I talked about how I was Using Color To Transition From Winter To Spring. Color is an important part of my wardrobe, but I also want to make sure that most of my items can be worn in multiple ways. Sometimes the more unique an item is, the harder it is to style it differently. Today, I’m showing you How To Style A Blazer Casual Or Dressy so you can get more wear for your money.
Styling A Blazer Casual or Dressy? Let’s Start With Casual
I bet most of you immediately think of a “dressy” outfit once you hear the word, blazer. We tend to associate a blazer as part of a suit, which is worn for work and in a dressy manner. However, adding a blazer to a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt doesn’t make the outfit dressy, but it does dress up the look. This is what I call elevated casual style, and it is my preferred way to dress.
The Desert Mauve Shawl Collar Blazer is a gorgeous muted color. It looks great with so many colors, I think it is a neutral color that I’ve never considered before. The blazer is almost silky feeling, and I love the way it looks and feels. The blazer is lined, but it is also lightweight which is perfect for spring. I’m wearing a medium which fits me great.
You can see the longer length of the blazer here. It hits me a little below my hips, and this is the length I prefer.
I’ve styled these Trouser Flare Jeans a couple of times before, and they are starting to get limited in sizes. These jeans ran big, and I had to size down from my usual size 8 to a size 6. I love trouser jeans since they are a little dressier than normal jeans, and they give me that elevated casual look I like. Here are a few other trouser jeans in case your size has already sold out.
Styling A Blazer Casual or Dressy? Changing One Item Makes This Look Dressy.
Like yesterday, I only switched out one item, but that made a huge difference in my look. Changing out the trouser jeans for a Smocked Flounce Midi Skirt took the look from casual to dressy. Even though I keep the same blazer and t-shirt, people won’t notice that it is the same since the overall look is so different.
I’m wearing the same white V-Neck tee that I wore in yesterday’s post. I don’t know about you, but I usually need to replace my white tees yearly. Since this tee is under $8, you can afford to buy a couple of them to last you the entire year.
The Smocked Flounce Midi Skirt is so pretty and feminine. I’m thrilled that you can see the gold sheen in this photo. The skirt has gold metallic threads that run through it, and my phone was able to pick up some of their reflections. The skirt has an elastic smocked waistband that you can wear as is, or cover with a belt. It is a chiffon material that has a polyester lining. I’m wearing a size medium and it fits me great.
I wore the Beige Women’s Wedge Sandals with both outfits. I took these sandals with me to Miami, and since they go with everything, I found myself wearing them often. Wedge shoes are the easiest to wear of all heels, so I wear them the most. I’m wearing my usual size 9, and these fit TTS.

Love the color of the blazer! The skirt is gorgeous.
I am no longer receiving your daily email. I even subscribed again.
I’ll go in and refresh your subscription. Hopefully, that will help.
Tania,
Do you think a petite could roll the waist band if too long?
Thanks, Terri

Hmmm, I’m not sure, Terri.
Pretty blazer.
Just ordered the trouser jeans! Thanks for making shopping easier for me 🙂
Both outfits look great on you!
Thank you for sharing affordable options! As a retiree I can’t spend the $$ on clothes that many bloggers share. While I enjoy their blogs, they don’t benefit from me using their links. You share reasonably priced items that I can get.
Love both outfits and how you swapped out the skirt for the jeans!
Great ideas as usual! I’ll have to try spring colored blazer with a white top. I tend to stick to black blazer with black or wine too. You look fabulous Tania. Love the daily Bible verse too.
Like both outfits! The Old Navy trouser jeans are fabulous!!! I bought them for my daughter and me and we both love them!
So cute!! I love both of these outfits, but for some reason I never wear my blazers. Maybe this is the year!! Thanks for the inspiration 🥰🥰
Love trouser jeans, but hate the flare leg–any idea where to purchase a trouser jean with a straight leg or a “barely boot” leg???
I work in a casual work environment and wear blazers with graphic tees often. Blazers have come a long way in being more comfortable and casual.
Also love the floral skirt – so pretty.
I’m ready for spring. Thank you for showing us some great spring fashions that look great on you.
Love that blazer. Color and length are perfect.
Both outfits are great! I have added a blazer to my closet in recent years and found that I never reached for it. I get the versatility of them though.
So glad I found your blog! I’m really enjoying it. love that the items you show are moderately priced compared to most of the bloggers. As someone who is retired, I can’t afford the price point of many of the clothes and accessories most fashion bloggers show. Keep up the good work!
Honestly, you look great in all you wear!! Love that blazer with the jeans and the skirt!!
I love these outfits, especially the blazer. You look gorgeous in both the jeans and skirt.
My favorite is the Jean outfit. I don’t wear skirts often. I appreciate seeing both looks. I too love to get pieces that are versatile. It also got me thinking if I d wanted multiple looks and I am not a skirt gal, what would I do to change it up. Thanks for getting my brain going this morning Tania.
Lovely items but I wouldn’t wear a full volume skirt with a long blazer, too matronly for me. Maybe a jean jacket with skirt and some type of belted column dress with blazer for a sleeker look….for my style.
Love that blazer. Might have to purchase it. Either out fit looks great on you.
Tania, you look great in both outfits. Thank you for styling a certain piece multiple ways. I enjoy seeing your combinations and greatly appreciate how you put the outfits all together.
~Lisa~
I love the blazer; however, in the plus sizes only “peach dust” and the ” Camino Rosaleda”
print version are the available colors. I love the mauve and am sad it is not offered in the plus sizes. I read your blog every day.
Thank you for always showing multiple uses for different pieces you style Have a great day!
Love both outfits and as usual you look fantastic in each one. I love my blazers and wear them a lot with jeans for a fun dressy casual look.
I really liked the blazer in the pictures with the jeans, but then when I saw the blazer with that skirt….. WOWZERS!!! That completely changed the look of the blazer. I’m thinking I need a blazer!
I love how you took this blazer from casual to dressy with the skirt. I could see myself wearing it both of these ways.
I love the color of the blazer with the denim trousers!! It looks so springy and comfortable.
Both outfits look great, I wish they had petites, at 5’1” it’s hard to find clothes that aren’t too long.
Great looks!
Such a gorgeous skirt on you! Love the feminine look on you. As always thank you for showing us options.
