HOW TO STYLE BLACK AND BROWN
Have you ever had the feeling that you had been played? I want to tell you a little story, and then I want you to tell me what YOU think. So, yesterday, Ashleigh and I headed south to go to my sister’s house. She lives in the Marietta area and works for Winnwood Retirement Community, where we will have the Vintage Fashion Show on Saturday. It is a long six-hour drive to her house, and Ashleigh and I were going to split the driving time. I opted to do the first part of the trip, mainly because we live in the mountains and it is impossible to work on my computer as we drive on the curvy roads. I can not read or write when I am on this type of road.
When I got to our first stop of the trip, I got out of the vehicle to take back some clothing that didn’t fit, and that is when Ashleigh decided to make this announcement. “Mom, I forgot my wallet at the house!” Since she never pays for anything herself, I thought, “so what?” Then she said, “so, I don’t have a driver’s license with me, and I can’t drive any.” I might have said a few swear words under my breath because I had planned on using that time to do my blog for today, answer yesterday’s comments on the blog and Facebook, and make my posts to Instagram and Instagram stories. Guess who didn’t get to do any of those things? If you guessed, ME, then you get a blue star beside your name. I decided to bark out a few instructions of things that I needed to be done, and if I hadn’t been afraid of what she would have said, I might have made her write today’s blog. So…what do you think? Did I get played, or do you think that it was an accident?
I am not sure how well this black jacket and leopard top will show up on the blog, but it is gorgeous in person. Black is a color that doesn’t photograph well, and details can be lost. This is the first time that I have tried an item from the Travelers Collection at Chico’s, and I was impressed. This was folded in the box for over a week until I decided to put it on, and as you can see, there are no creases at all. That is pretty awesome if you have to travel a lot for work, or if you hate having to iron or steam your clothing. I like that the jacket can be zipped, but I will probably never use that feature. I also love the zip pockets, and I think that they make the jacket look very polished and expensive. I am wearing a size 1, and here is the link to the jacket.
Today I will be helping to set up for the Vintage Fashion Show, and then tomorrow will be the show. I hope that some of you will be able to come out to say hello, that would be fantastic! I am wearing a vintage black and cream necklace and a cream-colored bangle. I have been collecting vintage jewelry for over ten years, so I have a little bit of most colors. I added a pair of faux ivory stud earrings, but those are not vintage. The address and times are on the flyer below.
How cute is this Animal-Print tank? Oh my word, this tank is so pretty and sophisticated looking. I like the band at the bottom of the hem because it sets it apart from most animal-print tops that I have seen before. The website calls this a sweater, but it is not a sweater exactly. It is a very, very fine gauge knit, but I wouldn’t describe it as a sweater. The top is lightweight, and even though I prefer a v-neck, I like this top a lot. I am wearing a size 1, but it is a tiny bit tight around my hips. I would have loved it if I could have gotten a 1.5 because I think a size 2 would be too big. Here is the link to this top, and it is on sale, so don’t miss this goodie.
I decided to wear a beige pair of pants with this top to bring out that color in the band at the hem. Sometimes when I wear beige pants, I feel like I look like I am not wearing any pants at all. Lol! Have you ever had to do a double-take when you see someone in beige pants? Lol! I can’t tell you what the name of the pants that I have on is because I took these photos a week ago. And, as you probably have already guessed, I forgot who they are by. So, instead, I am going to link to several that are similar.

Love this outfit! I will check the top and jacket out next time I’m at Chico’s! Have fun at the Vintage Fashion Show!
Nice Chico’s top & jacket. Maybe wear with darker pants next time. – imho it’s irresponsible to forget license, ID and insurance cards while traveling, especially out of state . Your daughter should have done her share of driving, and paid the consequences if caught. You were owed an apology. Hopefully she’ll learn a lesson. It could have been dangerous if there’d been an accident. Sobering thought.
Pretty outfit (on a pretty lady)!
The thing I like about Chicos is they hold up with time. I have several shirts I’ve had for years. This would be a great piece to have whether you travel or not, I just hate ironing. The top is cute!
Haha! I believe it was an honest mistake! Love these colours together!
