HOW TO STYLE CHINO PANTS WITH A MOTO JACKET
I am not sure if it is just me, but I feel like Crocodile Dundee in this outfit. Lol!!! I am not sure if the leopard print, the black-coated jacket, or the baggy chino pants that are giving me that vibe. I’ve worn camel items before, so I don’t think that it is the color. But, I keep finding myself wanting to say, “That’s a knife!” 🗡 😆
Talk about a tonal photo! The coco mat that I am standing on, my shoes, pants, shirt, coat, belt, welcome sign, and door all create this tonal photo. Heck, even my hair is wind-blown, which seems to go with the whole theme. I need to hop in my open-top Jeep, grab my binoculars, and go and see what kind of wildlife that I can spot. So far, the only wildlife that I’ve spotted has been JOE, but he doesn’t count. Lol!
I just got this leopard print v-neck t-shirt, and I love it! This v-neck tee is my favorite tee, and I have it in multiple colors. I wore the same t-shirt in the International Woman’s Day post, and I also own it in pale pink, dark pink, gray, navy, green, blue, and probably more that I left out. A t-shirt is versatile and can be worn dressy as well as with a casual outfit. They are inexpensive, and you will get your money’s worth from them.
Most of the time, I will order a large in my t-shirts. I never know if they will shrink, and I like them to fit somewhat loose. I think that these tees wash up well, and I’ve not had any shrink on me yet.
The temperatures have been nice for the past few days, but the day I wore this outfit, it was cold outside. I started to put on a classic denim jacket, but I decided to grab this black-coated moto jacket instead. I love this jacket, it looks like a leather jacket, but it isn’t as heavy or thick. The jacket has stretch to it, so I don’t feel confined when I move about. Plus, it is edgy and youthful-looking.
This jacket is by Liverpool Los Angeles, and I am wearing a size large. I think the jacket runs true to size since this one fits me so well.
This loose-fit trend is going to take me a while to get used to. I love how these high-rise girlfriend chinos feel when you are wearing them, but I am not sure that I like the way they LOOK on me. They are not too big; they are made to fit this way. After years and years of wearing skinny jeans, wearing baggier fitting clothing will take some adjustment.
Joe is still on the fence with this look. When I first walked through the kitchen, it was a hard NO from him. But, after he had seen me wearing them all day, that night he was a MAYBE. I didn’t jump in with both feet on the skinny jean trend, but it still grew on me. So, that is how I think this loose fit trend will do also. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit me great…really.
Who would have thought that I would ever like wearing a belt? I still don’t like drawing attention to my waist, but when I wear a jacket or cardigan to hide my sides, I don’t mind it as badly. Plus, the addition of the belt makes an outfit look finished and put together. It is like wearing lipstick or jewelry; it complements and completes the look.
I am wearing a Madewell Perfect Leather Belt in large. When I bought the belt, we were wearing our pants lower, but now that we are wearing high-rise pants, I need to order the medium.
I am wearing the large AVI hoops in gold, and the Elisa gold vermeil pendant with TANIA monogrammed on it for jewelry. I love this monogrammed pendant, and I think that it makes a fabulous gift. Think “mama” for the first baby, or as a graduation gift with their name or the year.
I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.
This past week’s winner is…..Rory! Keep commenting, and you might be next week’s winner.

Colossians 3:23
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
I just purchased the moto jacket and love it! Do you have suggestions on what I can wear it with (other than your original post)? Thank you, Deb
Deb, you can wear the moto jacket like you would a denim jacket. With a dress, skirt, pants, and jeans. It is very versatile.
Outfit is a “10”…funny how it’s hard to change to the new/old looser pants…thanks for leading the way…
Love this outfit and I don’t mind the loser fit pants. I was laughing so hard at the only wildlife being Joe. LOL!!!
I love the black and camel together. I’m with you, the looser pants are hard to get used to.
Such a “I have it together” outfit!
I feel in a chino the baggier looks fine.such a different look than skinny jean.
That Moto jacket and T-shirt are calling my name. I’m right there with you on the pants. I also prefer a slimmer cut.
I like the colors and idea of this outfit but I don’t think the pants do anything for you. You have such a cute figure and they don’t flatter you like they should. Crocodile Dundee can keep this outfit! Love you!
This is a gorgeous outfit and you look great in it. The looser fitting pants will take some getting used to after a few years of skinny pants. I wish I could go back last year and take back all the chinos I gave away! The belt really does set off the look to make it stylish and put together. I appreciate the verse from Colossians.
Tania, the top is great, the pants for myself are just too loose and baggy. Maybe some black or camel skinny jeans, just not a flattering Combo.
The top is cute though! 😊😊😊
Aw,you can try so many looks, and they all look FANTASTIC! A very happy birthday to Joe!
💕💕 this look
Tania,
The black belt is throwing me off. I would match the belt with shoes, it would also give you a leaner look, other than that , thumbs up for me. Love the outfit.
Tania you could definitely go on a safari to the Florida Everglades in that outfit! Or Australia! I really do like the coated Moto jacket! That animal print never goes out of style and the whole tonal look is working again!
You would absolutely melt in the Everglades. It was 81* and humid today in SW Florida. NOT leather jacket weather!
I am a sucker for leopard print anything! LOL Especially tops. I have so many already and continue to purchase more. They all are a small but different type of variation. This one I like but unfortunately is no longer available in my size. I like the moto jacket also. I would pass on the pants myself. I feel as though they would make me look bigger. But the entire outfit looks great on you.
I love the “look” of the outfit but I am really struggling with the loose fit pants on my body lol! Maybe eventually, but every pair I have tried so far has gone back. Now that jacket is a must have for me!!
I love the tee!
Tan has never been my color since my fair skin & blonde hair blend right in w the tan. But that black jacket make it work for you. And as always, I love your posts!
First let me say that you always look great in whatever you have on, but I don’t think these chino pants flatter you. Is there a fit that is between skinny and straight? lol I do love the T-shirt and jacket, and the Crocodile Dundee reference is hilarious! Thank you for your inspirational posts!!
You are too funny! I love the tee and jacket, but not really digging the pants. You are beautiful as always.
I love v neck t shirts, but I don’t like when they’re really low cut. Do you know of any that are a little higher?
I like the looks on you and the Croc references are hilarious! The tee and jacket are my favorites. I don’t think I could get into the looser fit pants or the high waist. I have a short rise so all that extra fabric just bunches up and adds weight to my frame. Some trends just aren’t for me!
I’m with you on the looser fit pants. I’m sure once I get used to them I will enjoy wearing them, but for now it’s a let’s try it attitude for me.
I think it looks great! Love that moto jacket!
Really like this. You always look superb.
You look cute as always! I love the jacket and leopard t-shirt. The girlfriend chinos are a “no” for me! Some trends are harder to embrace than others.
Can’t say I like the loose look with the Chinos. I don’t like a skinny jean either (fat legs). I like the loose look when it’s just the legs that are loose and the top looks like it fits. Maybe I’ll change my mind though.
I usually take a while to follow trends. Looks very nice on you.
I like tan & black look. Going to check out the tee today. Not sure about the loose fit chinos. I’ve been seeing more of them but I love skinny jeans. It may take time to get used to like you said. Pretty as always. Happy birthday to Joe 🥳
Really like the tee shirt. I think the pants look great.
I like the new trend of a loose pant. I personally think it is a classier look (especially the way you’ve styled it today or with a button down) and I’ve worn both. That being said, you can wear either one! This outfit is certainly a departure from your usual, but I think you look great! You’re showing women that they don’t have to stay with one look to be fashionable ….and that’s what this all about, isn’t it..making sure we all can find a look that suits us! Thanks, Tania!
This outfit does say Crocodile Dundee to me also. Seeing you wear it reminds me of when he says “Belong to it.” You Tania, wear your outfits so well that to me you do belong to it. Wearing the baggy fit pants is a fantastic look for you. Continue on your adventure of fashion cuz you do belong to it!!!
I’m still laughing about your Crocodile Dundee comparison!! This outfit is definitely something I would wear, all the colors are ones I’m drawn too. I’m a definite “Fall” on the color palette with pale skin and red-hair. Very cute! Good day, said in my best Australian voice
I think the outfit looks great on you. I always have a hard time wearing that print so thank you the idea!
I think the combination looks great! I need that t-shirt in my closet!!!
I’m working at adjusting to the wider leg trend. Like you, it will grow in me, I hope. I do like the outfit on you, especially the tee. Really like leopard.
Love the Moto jacket & leopard top! I haven’t jumped on the baggier pants trend yet. I have started buying some things from Liverpool Jeans. Didn’t know it existed until I found you. I am still laughing at the hard No from Joe. I was thinking at least he noticed! Love your blog & humor.
Love the Liverpool jacket. Thanks for introducing me to this brand. I bought their plaid glider pants that you featured recently and really like them.🙂
I like the outfit and it looks good on you, especially with the black jacket!
I love the color combination. I’m not so much on board with the pants however, I remember when I couldn’t find these in the store anymore because all the khaki’s were slim, short and tight. Lol.
This look is fine, but I like you better in a brighter color. This is just too beige/black. Sorry!
Love the colors in this outfit and the leopard tee. Not sure about the pants. I used to wear chinos a lot, but somewhere along the way I fell out of love with them. I think this would be such a cute outfit with a pair of jeans. Have a good Thursday!
It’s not you….I just can’t get on board with the baggy pants trend. I instantly think they age us, whereas I think the skinny pants look sleek and youthful. Hmm. And, I’m not saying they don’t look good on you, I’m just not on board yet. I think the slim fit looks more youthful. 😁
I agree – this pants style is just not doing it for me. Maybe its our age and I see all of our seniors in their days wearing the baggy, elastic waist polyester pants..lol. This is not insult to you Tanya at all – I know this is supposed to be the new trend but I’m not having it yet. I did purchase some Straight jeans from Old Navy to give them a try and I must say I’m enjoying wearing them, they are very comfortable but they still seem to have a slimmer profile than these chinos. I guess time will tell – we get stubborn in our aging don’t we.
Oh Tania, I’m right there with you! Just can’t wear baggy pants after wearing skinny and straight pants. These seem to be bulky in the crotch area, which to me, isn’t flattering. The top and jacket are perfect, but I will have to pass on the loose chinos. You are darling as always, just not your sparkly self.
“Throw another shrimp on the barbie “ for me! This look is definitely going to take a while. I own a couple of pairs but styling them is a challenge! When they fit well at the waist the looser fit is comfortable. Keep up the good work, I need help with ideas to make them look modern not matronly.
Love this look! T-sirt, pants & shoes! Maybe try a neutral colour belt so not to draw attention to waist. I’d like to see a different colour of jacket, find the black to harsh!
Carol from Canada
I think the baggier pants make it look like you just lost weight and need to go buy the next size down. 😉
“That’s a knife!” You are too funny, Tania! That’s a cute outfit!
You look nice in your outfit!
You look great in this outfit.
I’m still out on the fence on the baggier trend. My hubby doesn’t care for it either like Joe.
We had a girls weekend a couple weeks ago and my sister was asking me about the trend. Her daughter-in- law was wearing high waist baggy jeans. My sister asked me if it was a thing and did she have to get rid of her skinny jeans because she wasn’t on board with this new thing. 😬
I really like chinos. In Florida if something clings it’s too hot to wear.
Love the whole outfit on you. The loose pants will take some time to get used to as I do like skinny pants.
This is an adorable outfit and it looks great on you!
I feel the same about the pants but they do look nice.
I am having a hard wearing the wider leg pants.
I love the leopard tee, there are so many solids in my closet to go with. For me, I’ve never liked the way chinos look on me. Love the different look on this post, keep them coming!
I like leopard look things but Im not keen on the higher waist and loose fit pants. I do like the color combination.
I like the outfit. I am not keen on the print t shirt but it suits you . I like the fit of the chinos, whether I buy any this year I don’t know. I need to look at what I already have before deciding whether to buy anything.
Not sure I’m going to be buying any new pants this season. I’m struggling with the loose fit too. Looks like you have baggy pants on.
Love the outfit, but I can see what you mean about feeling like you’re in the movie, Crocodile Dundee. Lol. I think it’s the look/style of the pants that gives it that feel?
Love the top and the shoes! Need to find some comfortable stylish shoes as I’m standing teaching all day.
