HOW TO WEAR A T-SHIRT WITH A SKIRT
Do any of you have a daughter? Let me just go ahead and say a prayer for you right now if she is anything at all like mine. Lol! She is nothing like me when it comes to adventure. I have gotten braver as I get older but she is brave NOW! She headed off to Juneau Alaska without knowing a single person and arrived without a car. She was picked up from the airport by the University and taken to housing. That was a long time ago, I think it was 2009. Every year I just keep hoping that this will be the year when she decides to come back in the lower 48.
This summer has been even more of an adventure than normal with her. First, she took a job working in the field. She is a Marine Biologist and is now working on a fish wheel on the Taku river at the Taku Glacier. No cell phone service, only accessible by a float plane, and hardly any wifi. If all that wasn’t enough, she tells me now that there is a brown bear in camp. ? Guess what? The stinking bear is not afraid of them. It came on the cabin porch with all of them inside and they shouted and made lots of noise. It just looked at them. Someone finally shot in the air and it left but it keeps coming back. My daughter is tough as nails but her momma isn’t. This is a little more than I am comfortable with. Then, just to keep me on my toes, she tells me today that she has applied for a job in Dutch Harbor as the Fisheries Biologist. Have you ever watched the television show, “World’s Deadliest Catch?” That is filmed in Dutch Harbor and she would be testing their catch. If you ever read one day that I have had a heart attack, at least you will know the reason. That girl is going to be the death of me yet!!!
Today is day 3 of my plain t-shirt outfit challenge. I bet when you look at this outfit the last thing you think of is that I have on a t-shirt. That is the point! You are wearing the same clothing item but wearing it differently each time. Today it is used as a layering piece since we have a cardigan sweater over the top of it. I mentioned in yesterday’s post that because of the way the sleeves were made that it was easy to wear under a jacket or sweater. As you can see, there are no sleeve lines showing on the sweater sleeve. The only way that this could even be better is if the t-shirt was sleeveless.
I added some of my favorite turquoise and pink Plunder pieces. I don’t think that I have worn the Kami necklace before on the blog. I get confused since I have so much jewelry what I have worn and what I haven’t. Rough problem to have, huh? Lol! I liked this necklace way better than I thought that I would. I knew that I would like the turquoise beaded chain (it reminds me of some of my rosaries) and I knew that I would like the cross. But, I was not sold on the carved pink rose and I worried that it would be too fru fru for me. The large statement earrings are from a past Plunder Posse but the Ingrid earrings are available. They are a seafoam color and they “look” like they would be quite a bit larger. I really don’t know because I haven’t ordered them yet. The last piece of jewelry that I have on is the Kensie bracelet. It is a multi-strand leather bracelet that has colored stones and a gold magnetic closure. I just ordered a lot of new jewelry so hopefully, I will have a lot of new stuff to show you soon. It is getting that time of the year when Plunder is getting ready to discontinue a lot of pieces to make room for the new fall and winter collection. If you would like a list of the retiring pieces then just let me know and I will email you the list. If you wish to make a purchase then go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and pick a party in my name.
When I first saw this skirt I immediately thought of Paris. Mind you, I have never been to Paris but this is what I imagine the streets to look like. If you live in that are or have visited there be sure to let me know if this is what it looks like. I refer to this skirt as my Paris skirt all the time. Original isn’t it? Lol! I can’t tell you how old this skirt is because I actually bought it at a yard sale. YES, you read that correctly. I bought this skirt and a cute pink one at the same time probably 4 or 5 years ago.
This month I am focusing on helping my team and others achieve these same goals. I have started a group page on Facebook called, “What if? Is R+F right for you?” I am going to be going live on the page and talking about what Rodan + Fields is, how I make it work into my busy schedule, and seeing if it is right for you. Because I hear soooooo many people say, “but I don’t have a blog” I am inviting several of my R+F friends to come live on different days and tell how they got involved with R+F, why they got involved, and how it works for them and hopefully you can see that anyone can do this business. I would love for you to join me in this group, there is no obligation and I will not be contacting you if you do not ask me to. This is simply a learning group. I love what R+F has done for my skin, my confidence, and my finances and I would love to share that with all of you. Click here and request to join the group. I will be having giveaways in the group this month so don’t hesitate to join.

Wowza! I’m sure my daughter will be up for any adventure once she is of age! Ha ha ha,…I will be left behind taking care of her many cats,
I really like this series you’re doing and I love this outfit today. You look beautiful! I let my girls soar (but pray a lot for them). 🙂
I would love to get a list of Plunder.’s retiring pieces. And I signed up for your giveaway!
Thank you so much for talking about your daughter. I have 3 girls, all very different then me. My middle daughter is 21 and has moved to China, she tell she me stories of her life and I am in awe of her and what she is able to deal with. All I want is for her to come home. Be proud your daughter is so confident and brave, it is how they should all be raised. Strong, confident, beautiful women.
My amazing daughter was voted ‘most independent student’ in 5th grade — and she has never looked back. She turned 50 yesterday and is the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra. I am so proud of all her accomplishments.
I grew up in France and my first reaction about your skirt was that it reminded me of France. Love your daughter’s sense of adventure!
I love this outfit, Tania! And you look beautiful in these colors. What a great idea, to do a t-shirt challenge. Love it.
It’s great that you have daughter who is not afraid to do what she dreams of doing. You & Joe raised a daughter with confidence and who is self assured. Great assets. I wish I’d been more like that at her age. Cute skirt and can’t believe you found at yard sale. Looks brand new.
Johnna, she is very independent and knows her own mind. I love yard sales!!
congrats on such a fearless daughter – it takes a great mom to raise a confident lady. Love your outfit and it’s fun to see you always dressed so nice. I thought you were retired? I no longer work and if I did a blog it would be a thousand ways to wear a t-shirt and jeans ok sometimes it’s leggings.
Lol! Julie, I may be retired but I still need to get dressed, go to the post office a lot, go to the store, etc. You might as well look nice when you go.
Wow, I know you are proud. How exciting she is living her dreams! Great job! I love cardigans. I wear them all the time at the office.
I am proud of her. She scares me to death, but I am proud!
I have a daughter like that! Not quite adventurous as yours, but she is heading off to Italy for 3 weeks by herself! I wont be relaxed until she is home on Canadian soil! I wish I had her gumption! Cute skirt and love the cardigan! 🙂
Wow! That sounds amazing, Sally!!!
Your daughter sounds VERY adventurous and she is pursuing her dreams!? I worry about my daughter too living miles away. Yes!! Paris does look like your skirt-vibrant!I remember thinking all the buildings were beige colored when first arriving into the middle of the city, but once you set foot on the ground it changes into a feast for the eyes and ears and all the senses!!
Am loving this series Tania. Are the cardigan sleeves loose so that the t-shirt sleeves do not show through??
Also wanted to let you know a problem I’m having with R and F lash boost…my lashes are now brushing up against the lenses of my sunglasses…lol. I may have to invest in an eyelash curler…WHAT???? ?
Love this ladylike but sassy look! The skirt is awesome and a bargain too, That’s a double win.
Be very proud that you raised a daughter with such self confidence and independence that she felt comfortable moving across the country to such a remote place such as Juneau. My husband and I just came back in June from our second trip to Alaska. I have to say I know why she continues to stay in Juneau. It is beautiful and the people are wonderful!
So happy I ran across your blog a couple of weeks ago. You always put together the best pieces! You are an inspiration to my new way of putting my clothes together. Thank you for the time you put into your blog.
Firstly I wish your daughter luck with her job. Secondly what a great job you have done as a mum to ensure she has the confidence to leave home and chase her dreams. I know how you feel as my daughter works 300 miles away from me which in the USA is not very far but here in the UK feels like the other side of the world lol.
Love the skirt and yes you can find streets like that in Paris. Jill x
