How is everyone doing? It has been a crazy first have of the year for most of us, and we are trying our best to figure out how to have a life still and also to be safe. When the restrictions for going and coming were first put in place, we had rules and guidelines to follow. Even though we didn’t like not being able to get our hair styled and our nails done, we understood the necessity and were happy to comply if it kept us safe. But, things are changing again, and it is not as clear on what we need to do.

Every state has implemented different guidelines, and even those guidelines can change weekly. Here in Virginia, our Governor just announced that everyone who enters a public place should wear a mask. But, in some other states, it seems like the doors have been flung wide open, and everyone is allowed to go and come as they please. Do you have any plans to go on a vacation? Are there any upcoming weddings that you want to attend? We have our condo booked for a vacation in July, and I would love to get away and enjoy the ocean. I am sure that we would take food and cook our own meals, social distance ourselves from strangers, and have a gallon or two of hand sanitizer or wipes with us to use every time we opened a door or touched an elevator button. But is it worth it?

Usually, I consider pastels to be a color that I associate with spring. Once summer rolls in, I will go for brighter and more vivid colors in my outfits. But, this soft pink has me questioning why I would ever relegate it to only being worn in the spring. The softness of the color gives me a softer, more feminine look, and I honestly love the effect. So, this is how I chose to wear pastels in the summer.

This cardigan is one that I purchased from Walmart for under $10.00. I am wearing a medium, and you can see that it is plenty roomy on me. This cardigan is a fine gauge knit with a ribbed hem and cuffs. It is rayon and polyester, and it is machine washable. HERE is the link to the sweater.

Someone commented that they had issues returning an item to Walmart because of the restrictions put in place regarding COVID. You can’t return a long list of things to the store, including fashion items, but you can return them by mail. I’ve recently sent some things back, and I actually prefer sending it back by mail instead of me having to make the trip to the store. I simply typed in the order number, and then selected the items that I was returning. I printed my FREE return label and put it in the mail. It was a simple and easy process.

First off, I am sorry to tell you that my pale pink cross necklace is not available for purchase. This was a necklace that I bought years ago from Plunder, and it has been discontinued for a long time. But, I did want to show you how you can take a long necklace and wear it is a different way. Changing the way you wear the necklace gives you more options and versatility. I simply looped the necklace around my neck and threaded the cross through the loop. You can then adjust how tight or loose you want the loop to be around your neck.

The large leopard print flats (HERE) are a pair that I bought at Old Navy back in early spring. I love the larger print; it is different from most leopard print items that you see. The size that I am wearing is my usual size 9, and I think that they fit me great. Since this style has been on the website for a while, they are getting limited in sizes. So, I found other styles in this pattern (or very similar) that you will also like. They are below, and all you have to do is click on the photo to be taken to the website.

Last week, on this post (HERE), I showed you a gorgeous pair of shorts in a 5″ length. Today’s shorts that I am wearing is in a 6″ length. Does that extra inch make a difference? For some of you, the answer is YES!!! I want the extra length, and possibly even longer. These are the Riveria shorts from Loft, and I have them in several colors. They fit me great, and the length is good for me, so I order multiples when that happens. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit me perfectly, so I feel like these run true to size. These are a mid-rise, so they hit me right below my belly button, and they are machine washable. Check out the other colors that are available by clicking HERE for the link.

I’ve been trying to tell everyone about the new monogrammed doormat that I purchased at Frontgate. It is super thick, and it is very plush and heavy. HERE is the link to this incredible doormat. But, it just occurred to me that you might like a different option that was similar, but not exactly the same. So, here are a few more that you might like.

Go to your condo, enjoy the ocean air and sunshine. Life is too short to stay locked inside all summer. Prepare your own meals and stay safe!

  2. We are planning on driving to see our new grandson. We were supposed to fly down after he was born, but we have to wait due to the virus. Now we will drive, 700 miles, instead of fly. That’s ok. We just want to hold this sweet boy. Four weeks early, but he is doing great. Daily photos have to hold us over until the end of this month.
I just received the baby blue cardigan you styled from Walmart. Cannot wait to have a reason to wear real clothes. Working from home means I just throw on workout clothes, do yoga, then get to the computer.

  3. Have you had a long wait for your Loft items? I ordered from them over a week ago and I haven’t been notified my items have shipped, Just wondering what your experience has been. I realize there are longer shipping times but not this long!

    1. I have noticed some sellers take longer than others. Old Navy, Ann Taylor, and Loft have been some that were slower than others. But, I just placed an order with Loft a couple of days ago, and it is already shipped. Hopefully, their warehouses are being fully staffed again so that they can get the packages in the mail.

This year we had plans of going to Charleston and Savannah, but will put them off for abit. We will take our camper aka Glamping and explore some areas in our home state. We can go have fun, enjoy nature , but social distance at the sametime.

    1. That sounds like a great compromise. I bet you have a fantastic time.

  5. I am going on a family vacation with my kids and grandkids to Florida end of June and looking forward to it. We are flying and have a house that we rented with our own pool and and a mile from the beach

    1. THis sounds so nice, Cindy. I know that you will have a blast.

  6. Laurie Warren says:

Thank you for recommending these little sweaters. I tend to run “hot” and these are perfect for layering. They wash up great too! So affordable….I ordered 5!
We had a vacation scheduled for late June but the tour company cancelled so I guess it’s a staycation for us ?

    1. Laurie, I think they are great. They are lightweight and beautiful colors. For the price, I won’t freak out if they get a stain or a hole.

  7. We went for a week to Florida and didn’t wear mask. I’ve been back two weeks and not sick. I dined put every night I was there and shopped in the shops. If you want to take precautions by all means but do t let it keep you from the beach. The ocean will help your spirit. I pass this I case you like to read it. The New England Journal of medicine has released a statement hat there is no benefit to wearing a mask that it is primarily a psychological thing that makes people feel safe. Take care and have a wonderful vacation.

    1. You are a dare-devil. I know the masks don’t keep all of the germs from spreading. But, if it didn’t help some, why would they want us to sneeze into our arms, cover our mouths, etc. Any time that you can diffuse or change the direction of air, it has to help some.

    2. Gwen Marie Ewing says:

I agree with you wurzburg21! I have not worn a mask, I agree about it being psychological! Common sense says you don’t cough or sneeze into others space, a tissue would suffice

  8. I do appreciate a longer short. I was shamed in public a few years ago, by a woman older than me, who gasped and pointed at me for wearing shorts above my knee. I still have nice legs, but that pretty much scarred me.(I am 61) If you have any experience with 9 inch inseams or longer, I am sure there are others like me who would want them! By the way, you look great.

    1. Linda, I hate that experience stayed with you, but shake it off. Don’t let someone you don’t know, and don’t care what they think, control any part of your life. Fashion is just a small part, but all of us are held back from doing things we would love to try because of what others might think.

    2. I am inspired when I see women, more mature than I, wearing “youthful” clothing that look great on them. It gives me permission to do the same!

    3. Cute outfit. The cross necklace brings the whole outfit together.

  9. Hete in the Netherlands we are allowed to go to restaurants as of today! Keeping the distance of course. But we don t feel comfortabele doing that. I love pastels, but never wore them! But now I have a monochrome blue pastel outfit on IG! I love IT!

    1. Things are opening up a little, but I am being cautious.

  10. My husband and I plan to take some road trips for long weekends this summer. We also started eating out once the restaurants opened back up.

    1. Joe and I had Mexican last night, but it was take out food. That is still huge for us since almost everything has been cooked here at the house.
