HOW TO WEAR PASTELS IN THE SUMMER FOR A SOFT LOOK
How is everyone doing? It has been a crazy first have of the year for most of us, and we are trying our best to figure out how to have a life still and also to be safe. When the restrictions for going and coming were first put in place, we had rules and guidelines to follow. Even though we didn’t like not being able to get our hair styled and our nails done, we understood the necessity and were happy to comply if it kept us safe. But, things are changing again, and it is not as clear on what we need to do.
Every state has implemented different guidelines, and even those guidelines can change weekly. Here in Virginia, our Governor just announced that everyone who enters a public place should wear a mask. But, in some other states, it seems like the doors have been flung wide open, and everyone is allowed to go and come as they please. Do you have any plans to go on a vacation? Are there any upcoming weddings that you want to attend? We have our condo booked for a vacation in July, and I would love to get away and enjoy the ocean. I am sure that we would take food and cook our own meals, social distance ourselves from strangers, and have a gallon or two of hand sanitizer or wipes with us to use every time we opened a door or touched an elevator button. But is it worth it?
Usually, I consider pastels to be a color that I associate with spring. Once summer rolls in, I will go for brighter and more vivid colors in my outfits. But, this soft pink has me questioning why I would ever relegate it to only being worn in the spring. The softness of the color gives me a softer, more feminine look, and I honestly love the effect. So, this is how I chose to wear pastels in the summer.
This cardigan is one that I purchased from Walmart for under $10.00. I am wearing a medium, and you can see that it is plenty roomy on me. This cardigan is a fine gauge knit with a ribbed hem and cuffs. It is rayon and polyester, and it is machine washable. HERE is the link to the sweater.
Someone commented that they had issues returning an item to Walmart because of the restrictions put in place regarding COVID. You can’t return a long list of things to the store, including fashion items, but you can return them by mail. I’ve recently sent some things back, and I actually prefer sending it back by mail instead of me having to make the trip to the store. I simply typed in the order number, and then selected the items that I was returning. I printed my FREE return label and put it in the mail. It was a simple and easy process.
First off, I am sorry to tell you that my pale pink cross necklace is not available for purchase. This was a necklace that I bought years ago from Plunder, and it has been discontinued for a long time. But, I did want to show you how you can take a long necklace and wear it is a different way. Changing the way you wear the necklace gives you more options and versatility. I simply looped the necklace around my neck and threaded the cross through the loop. You can then adjust how tight or loose you want the loop to be around your neck.
The large leopard print flats (HERE) are a pair that I bought at Old Navy back in early spring. I love the larger print; it is different from most leopard print items that you see. The size that I am wearing is my usual size 9, and I think that they fit me great. Since this style has been on the website for a while, they are getting limited in sizes. So, I found other styles in this pattern (or very similar) that you will also like. They are below, and all you have to do is click on the photo to be taken to the website.
Last week, on this post (HERE), I showed you a gorgeous pair of shorts in a 5″ length. Today’s shorts that I am wearing is in a 6″ length. Does that extra inch make a difference? For some of you, the answer is YES!!! I want the extra length, and possibly even longer. These are the Riveria shorts from Loft, and I have them in several colors. They fit me great, and the length is good for me, so I order multiples when that happens. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit me perfectly, so I feel like these run true to size. These are a mid-rise, so they hit me right below my belly button, and they are machine washable. Check out the other colors that are available by clicking HERE for the link.
I’ve been trying to tell everyone about the new monogrammed doormat that I purchased at Frontgate. It is super thick, and it is very plush and heavy. HERE is the link to this incredible doormat. But, it just occurred to me that you might like a different option that was similar, but not exactly the same. So, here are a few more that you might like.

Ephesians 4:26-17
26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

In May we were going to take a road trip from Chicago to California on Route 66, but cancelled due to Covid-19. Planning it for next year. Love the pink and black together, so cute.
I love a pink sweater any time of the year! (I live in CA, and anything goes.) Not sure I’m ready to dine in a restaurant, but I’m looking forward to it. My husband and I got take out the other night and had a picnic in our car overlooking the ocean. It was our first date in months!
I just love your outfits! They are soooo cute!
What’s looks better with white pants than pastels? I think the old rules of color are out the window. We wear white pants all year round now, why not pastels all year? You look awesome in that outfit. Cardigans are too hot here now but lightweight sheer shirts are great as a replacement third piece.
Great casual summer outfit, love how the shoes step it up a notch! We’ve cancelled all our travel plans for the year, but we’re looking for a new house instead.. not sure if we’re crazy or what???!?? Have a great day!
Tania, you always look so fabulous! You have great legs and should show them off! I personally like 7 inch shorts, but they are hard to find. 8 inches is good for me, too. Otherwise, my fall back will be crops. We had plans to go down to NC this month to visit family; however, we have now put that on hold. So, it looks like a staycation this year! My husband has a genetic blood disorder; so, it could be dangerous should he contract Covid-19. Our physician has advised us that we should wear masks, and we do so whenever we have to head out into the public. But, everyone has to make their own decisions as to mask wearing. May you, and all the gurls, be safe and stay healthy!! Enjoy the summer, and God bless!
Love the pastel colors with your shorts! You look adorable. I prefer the 6″ shorts only because I have thin legs and the shorter make them look too thin! I am much like you, very cautious and wear a mask when I am out. I wear it for others to prevent them getting anything I may have, and visa versa. Respect and caution. Go to your condo at the beach, you will so enjoy the ocean and getting away! Just like you said, be safe!
We have taken 2 trips during this COVID mess. Both to Pensacola Beach, FL, since my husband’s mother lives there. The first time, all restaurants were closed except take-out. The 2nd time, they had just begun to reopen. We do not wear masks unless forced to do so and therefore I have only worn one twice – once to go get blood tests done and one to church yesterday. Our state (Arkansas), as well as FL, does not require masks to be worn everywhere and I am so grateful. I am also flying to VA in less than 2 weeks to go on an annual beach trip with girlfriends – this time driving to NC, close to Myrtle Beach, SC. Do not be afraid of traveling – it is so great to go somewhere, especially the beach!
We are planning on camping in the RV. We purchased a membership to a site called Harvest Hosts. They give you access to park your RV at wineries, breweries, museums or farms around the country. I’m excited to try it. We had been planning on taking a trip to Hawaii but not sure if that is going to happen. I am hopeful that we’ll get to a beach somewhere this summer!
My husband & I along with our two kids and their families have rented a house on Hilton Head for the last week of July. We plan on being careful about being around large crowds (if there are any) and spend most of our time outdoors. Most restaurants offer alfresco dining and we can socially distant ourselves along the beach. The house has it’s own pool and if we cook most of our meals we wouldn’t have to go out at all if we didn’t want to. But we plan on having a great time together and enjoying a week of making memories.
