I AM SEEING STRIPES EVERYWHERE
I bet every one of you has a song that will evoke a memory. If you hear the song start playing on the radio or television then the memories will start flooding back to you. I had this happen to me over the weekend but not with a song. My memories came flooding back to me when I saw a flowering crabapple tree in my son’s yard.
When I lived in an apartment complex in Cookeville, TN there was a huge flowering crabapple tree around the corner from my apartment. All of the mailboxes were there under the tree for the apartments on that side of the building. Every afternoon when I got off from work I would park my car and then walk around the side of the building to see if I had any mail. It never failed that I would run into Joe as I would be walking back. This was well before we had started dating or really even talking. Sometimes we would smile, sometimes we would say hello, but then as the time went on we would stop and talk for a bit. Years later I mentioned to Joe about how it was so funny how we would always run into each other around the flowering crabapple tree. That is when he confessed that he would watch for me to come home and just happen to leave his apartment at that time. Awwwww. Don’t tell him that I told you, he has an image to keep up. Lol!!!
I struggled with this dress by Vince Camuto. I loved the way it looked on me. I loved the way it fit. I loved all of the different angles and patterns. But, I just kept hearing my mother telling me that I looked like a referee or a zebra. Lol. She didn’t actually tell me those things but I know my mother and she WOULD. I bought a beautiful St. Johns knit outfit once and then decided to sell it on eBay because I didn’t like it. She told me that no one was going to buy that outfit because it looked like a band uniform. ? She was wrong and it sold for over 350.00! I really like that this dress slips over your head and that it was machine washable. Plus, I am a huge fan of stripes this year! This dress also comes in Plus size which is great.
I chose pearls today for my jewelry. The earrings are small seed pearls in a button style. Since they are no longer available on the Plunder Design website I will link to some similar ones below. I love the pearl necklace and I had hoped that it would come out in the new spring catalog but it didn’t. This was part of a Plunder Posse one month and I love all the different tassels that are attached to it. In case you are not familiar with the Plunder Posse, it is a monthly subscription service where you pay a flat fee of 25.00 and you receive 1 to 3 pieces of jewelry each month. You can enroll and unenroll with no fees. Each month the Posse is announced at the first of the month so you have plenty of time to decide if you want your order to process. The date you order is the date that your shipment will process each month. The bracelets are three individual elastic band bracelets.https://plunderdesign.myvoffice.com/ShoppingCart/index.cfm?FuseAction=CategoryShop&CategoryID=441&OwnerID=241007&PartyID=106257
This is a better view of the skirt of the dress. You can really see all of the different angles here. The black latticework shoes are an older pair but they sure don’t look it. This is a pair of Michael Kors that I think are so elegant. A pointed toe will elongate your legs and make you look taller. Even if you don’t wear heels you can still wear a pointed toe for the effect.
Here is the dreaded back shot. I really did love how the dress fit and how it hung on my body. If it had been in a solid color I would have kept it in a minute. Or, if my mother’s voice wasn’t running through my mind I might have kept it. Lol!
The other day I was talking to a lady about Rodan + Fields, she had just recently signed on as a consultant. She was asking me how things worked and I was trying to help her get her business started. She then said, “I don’t want to bother my friends and family.” I just about spewed out my drink. I said to her, “so don’t.” Why on earth would you ever think that I want you to bother your friends??? If you find a great new cake recipe would you want to tell your friends? What if you went to the best movie last night, would you want to tell your friends? What if your friend kept telling you about a cake recipe or a movie, would that bother you???? Why, oh why, would you ever think that telling people you know about the best skincare that you have ever used, the skincare that has erased your sun damage, the skincare that has helped you to age backward, and the skincare brand that has been named the #1 skincare in all of North America to be bothersome? If I was your friend and you DIDN’T tell me that is when I would be mad. Why would you know about something that good and not tell me??? So, I am telling you about a business that has truly become a passion for me. I see what it has done for others and it makes me so proud to be associated in just a tiny way with this amazing company and these amazing doctors.

Love the dress. You do a great job of putting everything together. Do you own all these clothes, bags and shoes???
Oh say it ain’t so Tania, you did not really send back that beautiful dress! I don’t think you look at all like a zebra that just escaped from jail or whatever. I think the dress looks nautical and very summery and the panels in front give a beautiful modern vibe. Oh well. The story about meeting Joe under the crabapple trees is so cute! Ya’ll could have a crabapple tree/blossom themed 50th wedding anniversary someday. That would be darling!
Hi Tania,
That is an amazing dress and it looks fabulous on you. And the back is actually very flattering. A bright cardigan(short sleeved in the spring/summer) with matching shoes…Girrrl, mm, mm, mm! You know you are styling! I love your blogs and look forward to them everyday!
I love this dress and the shoes! And you DON’T look like a zebra or referee! I wish you had kept the dress.
You’re crazy if you sent this dress back. You look fantastic in it! I love it!
You look fabulous in that dress! Your mother’s voice in your head needs an override. Seriously, it looks gorgeous.
I love this dress and shoes! Your story about seeing Joe at the mailbox and how he would look for you put a smile on my face. A sweet story to tell the grandkids some day.
I love, love, love this dress on you. Shoes are awesome too. I actually am a fan of the stripes going in different directions. It has a slimming effect because it draws the eye in different directions & the split hem on the skirt adds an unusual detail.
The dress looked great on you, but I am not a fan of the the stripes, angles and hemline. Just too much going on for me. Have fun on your trip.
I am a romantic and love lace! My mother is more contemporary and doesn’t. If I wore a lace dress she would comment that it looked like I was wearing a tablecloth. Kind of ruined it for me. But you look really good in that dress. Not many people can wear stripes, horizontal even across your stomach and look really good! As I’ve aged I have come to realize that my mom’s taste in lots of things is just different from mine and that’s okay. She has her opinion and I’m entitled to mine. It’s like you said about your red boots; wear them with attitude! The same goes for stripes, you look really good in them, wear them with confidence.
