INSIDE THE DRESSING ROOM, VOL. 2

I feel a little like Darrel Waltrip. In case you don’t know who that is, he was a Nascar driver, and now he is an announcer for Nascar. Anyway, right before the race starts, he always says, “let’s go racing, boys!” The reason that I feel like Darrel Waltrip is because it is time to, “let’s go shopping, gurls!”

  I went shopping in a store instead of my usual online shopping. And, what is even more amazing than that…I actually tried on the clothing while I was in the store. That is very unusual, and I hardly ever will do that. I don’t like the hot, sweaty mess that I end up looking like after I have tugged and pulled clothing over my head, and my makeup and hair look a wreck once I emerge from the dressing rooms. However, I decided to do an Inside The Dressing room today with Old Navy.

But, before I tell you about all of the clothing that I tried on at Old Navy, let me give you the deets about my shopping outfit. I’ve been getting messages about this look since I posted it on Instagram earlier, so here is what I am wearing. Marilyn Straight leg jeans (sized down to an 8) // Navy t-shirt (large) // Belt (similar, similar, similar) // Handbag (bought on NSale)

  The first outfit, a floral print long sleeve top and a pair of bourbon-colored chinos. This is a great fall outfit all on its own, or it would look great with a blue jeans jacket or a navy cardigan.

Here is a close-up view of the navy floral top. You can see the split neck and the tiny ruffle around the neck. I love the split neck style since it opens up the collar and shows more skin. This elongates the neck for a flattering look. I am wearing a medium, and I think that it fits fine.

This was not an easy shot to get, but I wanted to show you the length of the top.

Here are the bourbon-colored chinos. This is a great color for fall, and it will look great with a lot of colors. The relaxed fit of these chinos is nice but not saggy. I am wearing my usual size 10, and they fit great. The cuffs were already rolled, and the inseam is 32″.

These are high-waisted, and I love the side panel (I didn’t get a photo of it), which is a nice detail. Be sure to check out the other colors, too; I love the Mythical and the Arboretum.

The next outfit is a dress. It has been a while since I styled a dress, and since I loved the colors in this one, I thought I would style this for all of you. This dress has a slight puff sleeve which is very much in style right now.

This dress is so pretty, but I am still trying to get used to the tiered look. They are supposed to be large and oversized, which is so different from what I am used to. I am wearing a large, which would be my usual size.

Adding a jacket, blazer, or cardigan can keep the dress from looking so oversized.

I chose to add this cropped medium-color jean jacket. Above is with the jacket left open, and below is the look with the jacket buttoned.

I am wearing a medium in the jacket, and it is plenty roomy.

 

This Coffee Weather sweatshirt falls under the too stinking cute category! This shirt did come home with me. Lol! It is super soft, and I love the light-dusted chocolate color of the shirt. I bought a large one because I want it to fit oversized.

These mid-rise boyfriend straight-leg jeans are also pretty dang cute. I love the frayed, cut-off hemline, and the jeans have that worn-in look.

I am wearing my usual size 10 in the jeans. They are boyfriend cut, so they are relaxed and loose-fitting, but that is the style.

I really like this outfit. The colors all go great together, and they look like fall! The shaker-stitch cardigan is a fabulous color called Chai Latte. I should have known that I would love this sweater since a Chai Latte is my favorite thing to get at Starbucks. I thought that the cardigan ran large, so I ended up with a size small, and I think it looks great. If you want an oversized look, then get your normal size.

BTW, the sweater comes in every color that you will need for the coming fall. Now, on to the black henley tee that I am wearing. I love a henley tee, although I have no idea why. This short sleeve tee is somewhat oversized, and I am wearing a size medium.

I love these chinos! The color is throwing me though, I thought these were a light olive color, and I am beginning to think they are the Arboretum color. They didn’t have my size in the store, so I sized up one size for the photo. They are a little big on me, so I think that my usual size 10 would have fit great.

The chinos are a great neutral, and they will go with a lot of other things this fall. I decided to find a few other shirts to style with them as an example.

This striped v-neck tee is cute, and the Chai Latte cardigan would have also looked great with it. The tee has a couple of different colors in the stripe, and they all kind of blend together nicely. I am wearing a large in the tee.

Here is another outfit using a jean jacket. I love a denim jacket, and I think that everyone needs at least one. This one is a lighter medium-color jacket in a classic style. I love how it fits and how it looked, and if I didn’t already have about 4 denim jackets, this one would have come home with me. I am wearing a medium.

I really like this outfit also. It is a great casual fall outfit, and the pieces can each be worn with lots of other clothing.

This Floral Moon slub-knit tee grabbed my attention. The dark charcoal background really makes the graphic print stand out. I kept walking by this tee, and it kept calling me back. Lol. Finally, I decided to try it on and was surprised at how much I liked it. I always get large in tees, and I think this tee fits great.

I went back to the dressing room and grabbed the Bourbon-colored chinos because of the flower on the shirt. See how the pants and the tee seem to go together?
