KEEPING ACTIVE AND ON THE MOVE WHEN YOUR OVER 50
I’ve had several of you mention my recent weight loss. Losing weight is a constant battle for me, but I decided to get serious about getting healthy in the past couple of months. Most of us know what we need to do to lose weight, but putting it into practice is hard. So, I decided to tackle one issue at a time, and I started with getting active.
Since blogging is my job, I sit at a computer all day long. Sitting is hard on your body, so I decided to get up from the chair and get active instead. Small steps and not trying to do too much was my strategy. I’ve jumped in with both feet and hurt myself in the past, so this time, I started by taking a walk in the neighborhood. I alternate my daily routine between walking, biking, or lifting weights.
I’ve learned that I am more likely to exercise if I do it in the morning and if I have nice activewear. My theory is that when you look good, you feel good. Instead of putting on jeans and a sweatshirt in the mornings, I put on my activewear for the day. Today’s look is cute and lightweight, and it is perfect for walks in the fall.
My Zella white t-shirt is functional as well as practical. Zella products are high quality, and this t-shirt is so soft. I love that it is slightly oversized, and it hides my tummy. The v-neckline is flattering, and you will find yourself wearing this tee for all occasions, not just when you are exercising. I am wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
I added a Zella track jacket since the t-shirt was short-sleeved. My weather is mild at the moment, so this lightweight raglan sleeved jacket is a perfect weight. I found the jacket very slimming, and I love how it looks and feels. I did size up in the jacket to a large since some said it ran small. The large fits me perfectly!
This sporty jacket has zip pockets that are great for making sure your money or keys don’t fall out while walking. It also has thumbhole cuffs, making it easy to layer the jacket under a heavier coat. Layering is essential in fall and winter since temperatures can vary greatly. A puffer vest or jacket would be a great addition once the weather gets colder.
The Zella live-in pocket joggers are great for staying active and on the move. I found these joggers to be comfortable and flattering. They are roomy, lightweight, and super soft. I am 5’6″ tall and have long legs, but I found the length to still be perfect for me. These joggers are made from Zeltek moisture-wicking fabric that dries quickly. I’m wearing a medium, so I think the joggers fit true to size. If you are in-between sizes, you probably would want to size up not to feel confined.
Oh, my word!!! I love these pink blush lace-up knit sneakers! These are so cute and lightweight, and I just love the way they feel. I found the color so unusual that I had to grab the blush pair, but these also come in two other colors. These sneakers have a stretch-knit upper, and they are reinforced with laces. You can wear these for everyday errands or taking a walk or run. I added a white pair of moisture-wicking socks that are soft and have a cushioned tab that protects your heel.
I ordered two sizes of sneakers since I wasn’t sure how they would fit. I sized down a 1/2 size to an 8.5, and it fits perfectly even with the socks, but if you intend to use these for running, then you might want to order your usual size. Your foot slides when you run, so extra space is needed.
Staying active and on the move can be fun when you’re dressed in snazzy activewear clothing. But, if you want to stay active and on the move, then have a child accompany you on your walks. My grandson made a walk in the woods fun and entertaining, and I didn’t even feel like I was exercising.
I have a few other activewear items on order, so I’ll share those with you. A new year is coming soon, and if getting healthy and in shape is on your list for 2022, then these are items that you might want to order too.
Yes Tania, youre looking great! Good job! And very hard to lose weight during the holidays! That outfit is a pretty color. And your gorgeous woods would make me want to walk everyday! Im jealous!
Hey Tania!! You look amazing, and I love the active wear! I live on a 300 acre farm in GA, and I’m trying so hard to get motivated to walk again. I was doing good until I got sick this past year, but now all is well, and I’m just needing to get back in the groove again. Any tips for better eating? Well…Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas!
Love the outfit & especially the pics of you with your grandson … you can see the pure joy & delight in both your smiles!
The exercise outfit is really cute and the colour looks great on you. Its true wearing something you feel good in makes you feel more peppy!
Good going with the exercise. How long do you do it and is it every day?
Hi Tania, I had the same though as you regarding wanting to loose weight. And I loke you began by taking a walk around in the area. But you liat more weight than me . Bravo for your success. Can’t wait to read what you did next in your next blig!
You look great and fit and super cute in those workout clothes. Thanks for the reminder to make changes one at a time!
Great advice, start slowly, start small. I know I sit too much!
Your look young and sassy! I love the jogger suit.I can’t wait to learn about your weight loss.
Oooh, Linda. I love that description! Lol!
Such a cute outfit. I look forward to hearing more about your fitness/health progress.
It has been a progress. Lol!
Your active wear really does look cute and comfy and I agree with you that if you feel good in your exercise clothes, you enjoy your workout more. Are you letting your hair grow…it’s really gotten long and another question, do you color your hair or is that your natural color? I started using HB purple shampoo after you talked about it in a post from some time ago so haven’t colored it in seven months but now not sure how long I can handle the mousy color. Looking forward to learning more about your health journey.
Sandy, you are right, the activewear is really cute and comfy. I’m keeping my hair about this length right now, I have a hair appt. tomorrow to get it cut and colored. I still use the purple shampoo. I usually lather the shampoo and leave it on while I wash my body, then lather again and leave it on while I shave my legs. That gives it time to work and brighten up my blonde/white hair.
Looking fab Tania 😊
Thanks, Bernie!
