50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNJoe and I are attached at the hip. We do a lot of things together, even colonoscopies. Lol! Yep, he had his done on Friday. I was afraid his prep and procedure would be equivalent to a “man cold.” You gurls know exactly what I mean, we somehow managed to still do our normal routines when we have a cold but our men “can” turn into a 4-year old when they are sick. Hahaha!50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI was SHOCKED at how well he did. He didn’t complain, didn’t fuss, and didn’t whine. WHAT! Did the aliens come to town and replace my husband with a Stepford Husband? In all honesty, we both have no complaints. Doctor J N is top notch and our local hospital is great. We have used them for several surgical procedures including when I had my gallbladder removed several years ago. The reason I mention this is because when you live in a small town it is rare to have such great medical personnel and facilities. I do believe in supporting your local establishments when possible. 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNI know you all have the snow leopard print cardigan on your radar. This is a nice sweater that I got from Cato Fashions. When I wore this last week I was confused when one of the girls at work wanted to know if it was a vest or a sweater. I must have looked confused so she came over and pulled at the sleeve and then said, “Okay, it is all one piece.”That is when I noticed that the sleeves were a different color than the rest of the cardigan. I hadn’t even noticed before because I was so focused on the pattern. It was just coincidence that I wore a black t-shirt beneath the cardigan. Lol! This cardigan is already gone from Cato’s website so I have searched for other alternatives for you.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNThe Nika earrings are as big and bold as the cardigan. I do sometimes wear small dainty stud earrings but I also believe in wearing big and bold. I don’t want to ONLY do one or the other. I admit that this pair is not for the faint of heart but they are so light that you can’t even feel them while you are wearing them. I love that!!! Plus, these will draw people’s eyes to your pretty face and that is a good thing. I am also wearing the Wanda elastic bracelet today. The little silver dangles move but they don’t make noise, I have had people ask me that before so I wanted to let you know. The Colleen necklace is a great necklace to give as a present. It is personalized and anything monogrammed or initialized is really popular. That way the recipient knows that the gift was for them and not something you re-gifted. Lol!!! 50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNEvery time I wear these bootcut Vigoss jeans you gurls seem to love them. I don’t know if it is the bootcut leg, the darker color of the denim, or the bright white stitching that stands out so nice that you like. If you are like me, then it is a combination of all three of those things. I noticed that Maurice’s is having a buy one get one for 50% off sale on Vigoss so be sure to check it out. All of the jeans that I am linking to are from Maurice’s.

50 IS NOT OLD | LIVING IN A SMALL TOWNNow, let’s talk about these shoes. These are Chanel. Yes, they are really a Chanel pair of shoes. I know that most of you are thinking, “wait a minute, you are all about looking the best you can for the best price possible.” Chanel is EXPENSIVE!!! In my defense, this was the best possible price that I could get, they were FREE! Lol! I got these by default because they were a present to a friend of my sisters. She couldn’t wear them so she gave them to my sister who couldn’t wear them either. Thankfully, neither one of them bothered to check eBay or I would not have gotten these. Lol!

My favourite memory is my Dad’s “ tricks” to get Santa to fill his stocking. And the big surprise every Christmas morning when there was nothing but a piece of coal. We would change the order of the stockings, switch socks, dress up Dad’s sock all in the hopes of fooling Santa. It was the best way to start Christmas Day… laughing with our family.

We would go to a nearby town to drive through neighborhoods to look at lights. My dad would always save the best for last. We called it the house of blue lights. In my childhood eyes it was the most beautiful sight. I happened to drive by it recently and even though the house has been neglected over the years I could still see it all lit up in its glory. This is my first Christmas without my dad, so I will especially treasure this and other precious memories of him.

  3. Remember silver Christmas tinsel. We used to put it on our tree every year by the handfuls…..until we got a cat. The cat was eating the tinsel, which we did not know, until we saw it stuck to his bottom. Fortunately no harm was done, it could have resulted in surgery or worse. Well that was the end of tinsel in our home.
Now we use wooden or shiny beads, and the cats have no interest. I crack every time I see tinsel, not sure they even sell it anymore!

I grew up in a military family, that means that we never lived near relatives. So many of our holidays were just the 4 of us. My favorite childhood Christmas memory is the year we traveled to my grandparents in Nashville and all our aunts and uncles and cousins did too.It was very crowded and loud but it was the only time we were all together for something other than a funeral.

My best childhood memory was going to Grandma’s and being with my extended family. We always had so much fun and so much laughter.

  6. My favorite Christmas memory is listening to the radio to see where Santa was! I hadn’t thought about that in a very long time, thank you for bringing it to mind 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  7. My favorite childhood Christmas memories are at my grandparents. My grandpa was a dairy farmer and we always had to wait until the cows were milked before Santa would come. My grandma, aunt and mom would ‘disappear” and all of a sudden we would hear Santa on the rooftop! Oh what memories!!!

I loved decorating the house for Christmas; it was such a joyful and special time for my mom, younger sister and me! Carols played on the record player, Dad would bring in a tree and help us set it up, and then we transformed the living room into a space where I loved to sit and absorb the season. Merry Christmas!

Hi, Tania & Happy Holidays! One of my childhood memories is of a small, white Christmas tree we had and the anticipation that Santa Claus was coming that made us (my siblings & I) get up extra early!

  10. Probably the one where my husband proposed. That was probably the best one.
