MINOR CHANGES CAN HELP YOU TRANSITION TO A DIFFERENT SEASON
I know that it is only July 6th, but my brain has already started to think about fall clothing. Am I the only one, or has anyone else started thinking about this too? Maybe, it is because I know that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is showing their “PREVIEW” today, and I am anxiously awaiting making my wish list. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale gives you an opportunity to buy this year’s new fall clothing at a discounted price, but you’ll hear more about that from me soon.
Right now, it is still full-blown summer, and shorts, sundresses, and tee-shirts are the way to stay cool. But, soon the weather will start getting that crispness in the air, and that signals that fall is fast approaching. Transition clothing, when you can still wear summer items and modify them a tiny bit, is where my brain is right now. Everything that I am purchasing, I am thinking about ways to wear it in the fall.
Today’s entire look can be worn in the summer, and then later in the fall with minor changes. I didn’t take a photo of the rust-colored camisole that I am wearing, so you will have to use your imagination. Lol! This is one that I bought last year from Loft, and I bought it because of the rust color. I knew that it would be great to wear in the fall of the year, and also in the summer months when it is so hot.
To show you a summer look, I chose to wear my Michael Kors monogrammed mocassins. I’ve had these shoes for a long time, and I still love wearing them. Michael Kors shoes fit me well (tts) and they are comfortable. My friend wears their high heels everywhere, even when we went to Las Vegas. I thought she was nuts because we did a ton of walking, but she swears they are the most comfortable shoes she owns.
To transition into fall, all I added to the look was a pair of higher shaft ankle boots in white. The jacket was already in all of the photos, but any jacket or cardigan would work.
The reason that I wanted to add the higher shaft ankle boots was so that I could show you how to transition your crop pants into fall and winter. I like buying clothes that can be versatile, and crops fit that description. You can wear crops with ankle booties, but you can also tuck them inside knee boots if the legs aren’t too wide.
I am wearing the So Slimming Girlfriend Crops from Chico’s in the Hudson River Indigo color. The photo on the website shows the crops cuffed, but I have them un-cuffed for this look. I love this length since they are perfect with my ankle boots, and they also look great with flats. The crops fit me great, and I chose a size 1 so they would be relaxed but not baggy, on me.
I know all of you are wondering about this embellished denim jacket! It sure is a stunner and show stopper. While I was taking photos, a gentleman that I know came over. I thought that he was just going to say hello since we saw him the last time that we were taking photos. Instead, he wanted to know, “where did you get that jacket?” He said that his daughter would love it, and he wanted to show it to her. Lol!
Here is an up-close photo, and you can see the raised embroidered stitches and the gorgeous colors in this denim jacket. There are also some small crystals in the feathers of the bird, and little black “seeds” in the plant. The description from the website was so detailed about how they make this jacket that I wanted to share that with you.
“It takes more than ten steps to create each of these tropical embellished denim jackets. Digital printing brings the paradise crowned crane scene to life with beautiful ombres and color gradations, then we add 612 hand-picked rhinestones and 60,000 embroidery stitches to accent the design. Made from our soft, stretch denim, you’ll love the fit and the feel of this stunning embellished jacket.”
I am wearing a size 1 in the jacket, and I will still have room to add a long-sleeve shirt under it this fall.
Every time I show this handbag, it sells out quickly! I don’t know if that is because you gurls LOVE the bag as much as I do, or if they only keep a few in stock. But, I do love this neutral tote for a couple of reasons. The colors are beautiful, and it is such a pretty shade of camel. I like the pebbled leather material, and I like that you can use a longer strap for a shoulder bag, or take it off as I did for a satchel style. Also, the size of this bag is perfect, not too big and not too small!
I am wearing a pair of white Marc Fisher ankle boots that I bought several months ago. This exact pair is still available, but with limited sizes. I found another Marc Fisher pair that have more sizes available, and looks almost identical, except the heel is not brown. I find that Marc Fisher’s shoes run true to size.
If you don’t think that you would get enough wear in the boots to justify the cost, then wait and see if there will be a pair that is included in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
Chico’s carries some gorgeous statement jewelry! I bet several of you were eyeing my necklace from Chico’s, but it isn’t available any longer on the website. I bought that last fall, and I still grab fro it all of the time. Chico’s jewelry is of great quality, and most of their jewelry is a nice heavyweight. Most boutique jewelry is cheap and doesn’t hold up well, but I have not found that to be the case with Chico’s jewelry. This multi-strand necklace is one that they showed with the jacket, and I have it myself. Here are some others that you might like.
I hope that you enjoyed today’s transition looks. Also, how have you been enjoying my “scenic” photos. I might not have a lot of shopping places to take photos of, but I sure can find some beautiful scenery.

Too early for fall transition !
I love the blue and white swimsuit you have on in the opening photo – where is that from?
It is from Lilly Pulitzer. I bought it last year and it is not on their website any longer.
Oh Tania, the picture of you by the pool…looks like you got French fried!
Not at all, Pat. But, I was burning up HOT!!! Beckham refused to let me get in the water. Lol!
The scenery is just lovely, it all livens up your blog perfectly!
I was receiving your daily emails and all of a sudden they stopped. I signed up again and still no emails! How can I get them started again?
Let me check for you, Nancy. I looked and it said that your email bounced. That can mean a number of things, but I went in and tried to do a reset, so hopefully, it will work tomorrow.
Same here – I received your daily emails for several years and then suddenly stopped receiving them. I’ve tried signing up again numerous times to no avail.
I love the ideas of transitioning to fall.
Too early to be thinking of fall but cute ideas!
Not sure why your Emails started going to my Spam about 5 days ago ???
Love summer but great transition ideas with cross and boots. Everything cute!
Such a beautiful jacket! In Scottsdale, AZ we won’t be transitioning to fall until November. Lol We still have many 100+ degree days ahead of us. I love your beautiful scenic backgrounds for your photo shoots! Since we are surrounded by desert and cactus it is nice to see green.
Still HOT summer on the West Coast! Tanks are great but wearing a jacket it out of the question and arms exposed is also out of the question. Already tired of wearing what I purchased for summer. So bring on the fall.
Love your background scenery, love Chico’s, and love today’s outfit, Tania! Your grandson is adorable, too!
I always enjoy your blog, but I too am not ready to think about fall :o). Can you tell us about the swimsuit you wore the other day? Also, I hope you’re still planning to share about your training with your son!
Great outfits. A fun way to transition.
Here in Scotland today it is pouring rain – the joys of a UK summer.
Great transition outfit. Burning question though..what is the concoction that you are enjoying in the photo with your grandson??? Lol
Love the transition post and the scenic pics.
Question: Grandchild’s wedding this fall and wearing a knee length navy dress. I am 72 years old and my legs are awful and I don’t tan any more. Do I wear stockings? (haven’t in years) and what color??
Thank You
Great outfit even though I don’t want to think about fall yet. That is one gorgeous jacket! I love the look of ankle boots with crop pants but I can never seem to get it right…it looks great when I’m standing but then I’m having to adjust the hem when I get up after sitting. Any suggestions?
Cute outfit – but boy am I not ready for fall as I know how many hit days we have ahead of us! Just don’t start talking about Christmas yet please! Lol
I’m not a huge fan of the boots, but as you said a flat would work great as well the jacket is fabulous.
Have a fabulous day. I’m hitting the road this morning on a 6 hour drive to go stay with a friend who’s having surgery on Thursday! Leggings & a comfy top is what I’ll be wearing! Lol
