NEW YEAR’S EVE OUTFIT
This year is slowly coming to an end. This is a time of year when we look back and reflect on what we have done. As always there are highs and lows, good times and bad, and plenty of lessons that were learned. We can now look forward with high expectations of the coming new year. I can remember sitting by my radio and listening to the countdown of the year’s top hits.
Back in those days I would get my cassette recorder out and try to time it just right so that I could get all the song recorded without all the jabber from the DJ. I thought I was so cool. The next time I went to school I would tell everyone about my tape. We would compare our versions and try to decide who had done the best job. Lol! In middle Tennessee “the” radio program to listen to came out of Chicago. From memory, I am thinking it was something like WLS. Do you gurls remember Wolfman Jack???
For the first time in many, many, many years, Joe and I will actually be at a New Year’s Eve party. We normally are in bed by 10:00, (11:00 if we are living on the wild side) so I think we might have to try to get some sleep on Saturday during the day. Haha! Otherwise, you might me sound asleep on the couch that is in the women’s locker room. There is a live band that is coming to play for us and breakfast is going to be served at midnight.
This is an outfit that I think would be fantastic for a New Year’s Eve party. It is elegant and sparkly but it is also comfortable for dancing. This sequined snake print tank top is by Karen Kane and it is at least 3 or 4 years old. I have NEVER worn it! I have never worn it because it was too little for me. I did a happy dance this morning and went running through the house to show Joe that it fit! He was more interested in why I didn’t yet have on my pants. He told me that was an interesting look for the blog. Lol!!!
I have on my Georgia bracelet for the first time. I have had this for a while but it is not something that I would normally wear for every day. I see a lot of people use this bracelet for weddings and bridesmaids. The snakeskin clutch is one that I bought at the QVC overstock outlet that is in town.
I know you are sick of these bracelets but I really like them. They just seem to go with EVERYTHING! Hugo, Kylie, and Ezra are their names.
My necklace is called the Martha. It was one of my first purchases from Plunder. I have worn it several times since I bought it. The matching bracelet is the Edith but I decided against wearing it today. I couldn’t tell you what earrings I have on because I can’t see them. The black velvet blazer is by Izod. I looked back on my blog to see where I wore it (here) and was surprised to see where I bought the blazer. A thrift store for only $5.00! That is one of my favorite blog posts since I have been blogging. Be sure to check out the post.
I have a pair of skinny jeans on and a pair of black booties by Marc Fisher. The jeans are mid-rise jeans from Old Navy and I bought the boots at the overstock store in town.
Love this outfit! Festive yet classy!
Just the right amount of glitz.
And yes, I remember Wolfman Jack! Loved that gravelly voice.
Absolutely beautiful!! Hope you have a wonderful time at the party.
I just found your blog and am having fun catching up on some of your past posts.
PS. Wow, the whole cassette scenario took me back to great memories. 🙂
Wolfman Jack and the Midnight Special! What I would record on my handy cassette tape recorder was the weekly countdown that Casey Kasem would do then of course the year’s top hits. I had some mad skills with that pause button 🙂
Love the sparkly top with jeans. You look very slim. I also did the recorder thing, but mine was an old reel to reel. I liked Larry Lujack best. We are going out for an early evening tomorrow, wish I had that outfit. Happy New Year and thanks for being real.
Love your casual, sparkly outfit. Great for a party! – Amy

I totally love the outfit. You gave me some ideas for a casual but celebratory 60th birthday party in January. I didn’t want to get too gussied up so planned on wearing nice jeans with a black velvet jacket. I will look around the clearance rack for a similiar top. Thanks again!
BTW I too had a cassette player and remember Wolf man Jack and I’m from Boston area.
Happy New Year to you and yours Tania ? looking beautiful as always – loving the bling ?personally would probably have done a sparkly blk stiletto with the Jean as I love a bit of bling for the New Year ? have a great time at your party
Totally something I would wear!! Happy New Year to you and yours!
Yes, girl!!! I listened to Wolfman Jack in West TN, too! Also recorded songs off the radio to my little cassette recorder. Brought back some memories with this one! ? 3 Dog Night, The BeeGees, Ike and Tina Turner, Credence Clearwater to name a few….
I love the velvet blazer. You look so pretty!
Right on!! Oops, my inner 70’s coming out! You look terrific and exactly what I’d wear. Have a fabulous new year and I look forward to your posts in 2017!
Oh my Wolfman Jack!
I’m from Pilot mountain NC he hosted a show called the midnight special on Friday nights. Wow those were the days when music was good and you could understand the lyrics.
Happy New year!!!
Cute cute outfit! Love the jewelry?
Here’s to a wonderful New Years ?
You just described me perfectly! My girlfriend and I would tape the radio and pass the cassettes back and forth. And I love Wolfman Jack!! So please tell me your secret how you now fit into your top! I need help! The holidays are catching up with my mid section. Happy New Year and try to stay awake for that magic moment!
Susan, I have such fond memories of those days. I have not lost any weight recently but I had lost some earlier in the year. I am going to try to start watching what I eat after the holidays and start exercising a little more. (some would be more)
I grew up and still live near Chicago. WLS was “the” station back then. Wolfman Jack and Larry Lujack are the 2 dj’s I remember hearing most often! Your outfit looks great. Happy New Year!
Sparkly with a hint of sass!! Happy New Year!!????2017!!!!!!
Great outfit Tania!! Isn’t if fabulous when something finally fits? I always do the happy dance then too!!
My husband is fighting a cold this year, so we might be in bed at 9:00—ha ha!

Love this outfit! Looks great like someone said above, classy and also comfortable! Happy New Year to you! Can’t wait to see what 2017 brings!
Moma always made us a mock cocktail punch Ginger ale, lime sherbet and a maraschino cherry. My bother and sisters thought we were so elegant waiting on midnight with high hopes. Love the outfit. Not too dressy and not too casual. Hope this new year holds everything you could wish for.
You look great, love your outfit, and I also bought a velvet blazer at a thrift store a few months ago! And yes I remember wolfman Jack, can hear his voice clearly!
I grew up in central Indiana and WLS was my favorite station! Weird what you remember from teen years, I remember the names of some of the DJ’s ( in late 60’s/early 70’s) – Dex Card, Ron Riley and Art Roberts. I remember Wolfman Jack but not on that station. I was thrilled when I could hear WNEW in NYC with Cousin Brucie. Love your sequin top! And Happy New Year!
Love this casual, glitzy look. Wollfman Jack was great! Have a Happy New Year!
Love the outfit! Festive, yet comfortable. I love a sparkly top with jeans. I can remember recording songs off the radio all the time! Who would have ever thought there’d be things like iTunes, Spotify, & Pandora??!!
I love the outfit Tania , I remember wolf man Jack and doing the same thing trying to record those songs just right ? .
Hi Tania! I have just started following your blog after admitting I was in a fashion rut and needed help. What a blessing you have been! I know this sounds crazy, but I would love to see how you organize your closet! How do you keep all your clothes and shoes and jewelry and purses so that it is al accessible and you can see what you have? Have a wonderful 2017!
Haha! I remember doing that with my cassette recorder, we used to press pause and release it just as we thought the DJ had stopped talking (not always successfully). Happy days ? The sparkly top is fab.
Super cool outfit Tania – and wish you lots of fun at your New Years Eve Party. We have a tradition of going to friends of ours each year for New Years Eve, there’s always a huge party and I am in charge of dessert. Last year we celebrated differently and this year we are back to our usual tradition – I am so excited – like a little child 😉

I LOVE this outfit… it screams “class” … understated elegance …not cheap and flashy…. I would wear this in a heart beat…you are giving me some great ideas… plus I really appreciate the price point on the jeans!!! Blessings to you
That’s an outfit I would totally wear! It looks comfortable and just the right amount of glitz. Love it!
I always imagine a New Year’s outfit a little more “colorful”; especially from YOU! ? Maybe the top looks sparklier in person.
