I think having mammograms every year is very important. I had breast cancer 17 years ago, had a mastectomy and last year I noticed a lump in the breast that was removed. I was shocked to find out I had a cancerous lump in that breast. Well I had surgery to have the lump removed and followed up with 6 weeks of radiation therapy. I was told that I a sense I was lucky that the lump appeared above the implant because if it was under the implant I might not have found it until it had spread. They do not do mammograms on a breast with an implant.
So I feel no matter what have the lump checked out and get mammograms every year. I’m glad yours was good!
I’ve lost too many women in my family to breast cancer. So, we all have a mammogram every year. This is particularly important when you also have a history of dense tissue. Just over a year ago, my sister’s mammogram showed cancer. She had a double mastectomy, followed by chemo and radiation. Her most recent scans show the cancer is gone. Had she skipped a year and not gone for her mammogram, she would likely not be with us today. I cannot stress the importance of annual mammograms enough. Thank you, Tanya, for bringing such an important test and issue to everyone’s attention.
In the long run, everyone has to make the decision that’s best for them. I’ve already made my appointment for next year.

I’ll be 76 in about a month (how did I get here??) and I still go for mammograms yearly. Out of my 6 besties, 3 of us have had breast cancer in the last few years so I’m apprehensive every time I go. Yes I will keep going as long as my doc thinks it’s necessary.

Good morning! I’m ordering the bag with the black ribbon trim. I think you shared this a few years ago and I purchased one. It held up great but time to replace.
In regards to mammograms, I am a retired nurse and breast health specialist. I support annual mammograms, as early detection saves lives. The amount of radiation you receive is minimal and well worth its diagnostic value. Don’t forget to do your monthly breast exams too!
