SHORT, SWEET, & SHAGGY
When you have more to do than you have time, something has to give. The something tonight is this post. I wasn’t smart enough to plan ahead and do a post early, because tonight I have a woman’s club meeting. Therefore, you will be getting the short and sweet version. Haha
Here comes the shaggy part. This weekend when my sister-in-law was here, she noticed a small dog running behind my house on the railroad tracks. Yes, I have a train that runs right behind my house. We went outside and called for it, but it ran away. I went next door to see if it was their’s, but it wasn’t. I looked for it again that night, but never saw it again. Last night when I took Beckley outside to potty, he took off like lightening after that same small dog. I yelled like a mad woman till he finally came back, but the other poor dog was long gone. Then this morning the poor thing was on my back porch eating the cat’s food. I snuck out the side door to see if I could catch it, but nope once again.
As, I was leaving to go to work, I was driving down the road in front of the house, and the little dog started running down the street in front of me. I stopped the car and honked the horn. It actually stopped and looked at me, so I opened up the door and called for it, and it actually came to me. Poor little thing was FILTHY. Not just a little bit, but muddy, nasty, stinky, dirty. I picked it up and put it in the car, and it seemed right at home. I am sure I stunk by the time I made it to work. I just happened to have a dog crate at work, don’t ask why, so I put it in the crate and found it some food. It gobbled down two bowls. I called the dog groomer and she agreed to work the dog in, to try to get out some of the cockleburs.
When “she” got back from the groomers, she consumed some left over food, a few French fries, Girl Scout cookies, and some chicken. It was what we had on hand. I am going to post on FaceBook that I found a dog, and let anyone that is missing one send me a picture to see if it is theirs. Otherwise it looks like me or my sister-in-law will be getting a dog. After all she is the one who spotted her. Haha.
Till then, she needs a name. Bertha says Gypsy, Sandy says Missy, I have been calling her Lucy Goosey, and my son says Sassy. Do you gurls have any suggestions? As I write this she is under my left arm, sound asleep on the couch. And, I have just discovered she snores. Lol!Now for the fashion part of this post. I took this picture probably a week ago. I was trying to get in a few pictures, just in case one of my outfits didn’t turn out like I had hoped. Guess what??? Yep, you guessed it. The outfit I wore didn’t look too hot in the pictures. That more than likely means that it didn’t look good in person either. Haha So, I pulled this one out of the archives. The cardigan is by August Silk, and that probably means I bought it at T J Maxx. Here is a similar one. The white top is the Simple V (c/0) from Covered Perfectly, it is the perfect summer top. The navy sailor type pants were from Old Navy, and they are at least 3 or 4 years old. Here is a similar pair.
Sorry, I don’t have a lot of fashion on the blog today. I just didn’t manage my time very well. I will make it up to you tomorrow. And if the pooch is still here, I’ll post a picture! Remember to vote on a name, just in case.
I want to thank everyone who has entered for the Stella & Dot tote giveaway. If you have not already entered, then go here to enter.

Cute sweater! How kind you are to take care of the lost dog. I really enjoy your blog and pics.
Maybe you should call her Lucky, since she was lucky you found her 🙂
Tania you look skinny in this pic. Are you losing weight? Love your blog. It’s the first thing I read everyday. You’ve given me so much inspiration And help in choosing outfits. Thank you! Keep the posts coming! Would love to see a cocktail or formal outfit.
I wish I was losing weight, it must just be the pose. Haha I have to go to the GFWC Virginia Woman’s Club Convention in May. You should see some more formal and cocktail type outfits then. There is not a lot of night life in Grundy, VA:(
After a long, trying day, your heartwarming story was a perfect pick me up. How wonderful of you to show such kindness to a dog who needed you. Many wouldn’t bother. My vote is for Gypsy!
Gypsy seems appropriate if you don’t find her owner. So wonderful you took her in! I hope everything works out!
Would you consider Lucy Goosey? My dog ,a Shitszu passed away on Thursday last week. Her name was Lucy. My family is completely heartbroken. We are partial to that name obviously! If it helps we rescued her from being sent to a shelter and have never had 13 more joyous years than when she was alive.
It is so hard to lose a pet. My Beckley is going on eleven years old, and he is the first “house” dog we have ever had. We are always saying how we can’t imagine losing him. I am sorry for your loss of Lucy.
Try your dish gloves to open jars; works like a charm! I love Lucy Goosey!!
Gypsy! Thank you for saving the little girl! As someone involved in “rescue”, that is much more important than fashion ( and I adore fashion!) !
You are a sweetie to save her from the streets…I vote for Gypsy! Love your archive outfit! I bought the Vera Bradley leather tote in pink!! And got an extra discount at the outlet, thanks for telling us about it 🙂
I am so glad that you got the purse!!!
I adore that blazer, Tania, it’s so striking 🙂
p/s how about Missy B for le pooch? Or, ooh, Queen B?
I love your outfit, so cute and sassy! How about the name sassy for the doggy?
If the dog doesn’t have a micro chip check with local vets, pet shops & groomer. My local town has a wonderful lost & found group on FB. Lovely outfit.
Love, Love, Love the outfit you have on today! And I’m pretty partial to Gypsy, too. It seems to fit her “on the run” story.
Hm, maybe Gypsy because it fits the way you found her BUT I also like to ‘see’ if a name fits, too. Waiting for a picture to decide for sure!
I would name her “Lucky Lou”
The name Gypsy is very appropriate. Let’s hope sheinds a new home. Doesn’t look like the previous owners were watchful. Good luck. Can’t wait to see a picture. What kind of dog is it?
Gypsy!
I should have mentioned this……there are wonderful no kill shelters. They even have foster homes that can keep them until their forever home can be found. Small dogs usually go quickly. I could not have kept the little dog I found because one of my dogs (my dogs were big dogs) didn’t like sharing me. The poor little dog would tinkle every time my dog went after her (she wouldn’t have bitten her but she was sure drawing the line in the sand).
So, I found a little dog a couple of years ago. I posted her photo and my contact info. In the mean time I tried every name I could think of trying to guess her name. The owner had been on vacation and the little dog escaped from the yard. I asked what her name was……it was DISCO. It makes me smile every time I think about it.
I vote for, Gypsy.
I vote for Lucky!!!❤
You are such a dear to take the doggie in until you find the owner…however, if she is a keeper, how about Stella, since she does have a little attitude ; ) The name Gypsy and it is very appropriate…
Good luck with your little ward today : )
Gypsy. I bought a pink purse…….so you are thinking ok. But you see I never switch purses with outfits. You are a wonderful teacher. I thank you once again!!
Poor little dog was frightened and hungry and you rescued her. I love a happy ending! She and Beckley may become fast friends and cuddle together. Gypsy is a perfect name for her.
I love this story. The little pup (I vote for Gypsy) is so lucky to have found you! I got my cutie at the Humane Society and I just love him. Good luck finding the owner!
Always know good people if they have the compassion to rescue! Her name will come to you!
Well I hope you have better luck finding the owner than I did. We picked up a young, cute beagle on the road 5 years ago and never found his owner, (although we tried for at least 2 months). We finally gave up and kept him. Snoring next to me on the couch as I write this. Haha. I like the name Gypsy for your new dog…
I think the the name Lucky is appropriate! And I love your outfit keep them coming 🙂
Tania luv, you already named her 🙂 I see your worried about her potential for possessiveness, but I think if you give her a little time….. My boy Buster was a rescue- roamed the streets for who knows how long-emaciated and filthy. When he was brought to me he was scared of everything, but over time he bloomed into the most energetic love bug. He’s gone now, but I’m forever grateful I took the risk on my baby~ take a chance 🙂
Gypsy sounds cute, I have a Sassy that snores somtimes. Sounds like she is fortunate to have found you. Have a great day.
Why not Stella!! You love Stella and Dot jewelry and she is your new jewel!!
That’s cute!
How about the name Choo Choo…’cause of the train tracks! Aren’t I clever?!?
Hahaha. I would be afraid she would turn into a chew chew.
It’s amazing how she came to you…finally. Quite a great story! I hope we get to see a picture.
My sweet dogs are rescue pups – literally! Found them in the dangerous street playing,so very young. ? After many attempts to find their source (riding around to neighboring houses with them in my crate and putting out flyers, etc – this was before Facebook days), the babies ended up with me as their new Mom, and a built in stepsister dog. They more or less picked their own names too, letting me know what they liked best. Try it! I like Lucy ?. Loving today’s sweater and bracelets ??
Gypsy! It seems to fit her recent nomadic lifestyle…
Railroad tracks…Hobo!
I thnk Gypsy is the perfect name! Bless you for taking her in when it would have been easier to let it up to someone else. YOU are a very special person! I enjoy your blog and your fashion advice every morning.
What size do you recommend in the Perfectly Covered tops? I am a size 14.
I normally wear a 10, so I bought a size large, if that helps. You could contact them, if your still not sure, they are very nice.
Please check to see if she has a chip. I think she is blessed to have someone like you find her! Maybe Gypsy has found her new forever home. I don’t know how anyone can just throw out a dog but they dol. My Kingsley is the love of my life and if he ever got away I pray someone like you would befriend him. Thank you for not taking her
to the pound. For the fashion part your archive was pretty. I like the way you always shake up your style.
No chip. She is a terrier mix, but she is a cutie.
A sad story that will have a happy ending. Either she will be reunited with her family or she will get a precious new one. I’m with Bertha – I like Gypsy. Like the outfit too.
Yes, Gypsy!
I think you have another do??
Not so sure about that. Haha She and Beckley are getting along fine, but since she has taken up with me, every time Beckley walks close she growls. I don’t want a possessive dog because of the grandbaby next door. We’ll just have to see if that goes away as she gets more comfortable.
can’t name her to I see here but I am partial to Missy since I had a Missy Jo…..
Hope you find her owners who might be missing her. Off topic, thanks for your suggestion of lipstick stains, great product. It’s like the gadget to open jars, should have gotten one sooner
I know what you mean about those jar openers. I need to find one. All I have is the sticky pad thing. It is not a lot of help.
I like the name Lucy! 🙂
Gypsy!
