Sitting At My Feet With Adoration In Her Eyes
Lucy Lu is my motley little dog. You might see her occasionally photobombing me in some of my fashion shoots. Lucy now has the life of Riley, but it hasn’t always been that way.
The railroad tracks ran behind my prior house, and one day, when looking out my window, my SIL spotted a small Yorkie-looking dog. We went outside and called for it, but it quickly ran away. Over the course of the next three days, I would catch sight of the dog, but it always ran off before I could get to it.
One morning, as I left to drive to work, the dog started running down the road in front of my car. My son was standing in his driveway, which was right next door, so I honked the horn so he would see the dog coming his way. I had hoped that he could catch it for me, but when she heard the horn, she stopped in her tracks and looked at me. I opened my door and called to her, and she came right up to my car and jumped in. 😳
The poor thing was covered in mud and burs, so I called my dog groomer and asked if she could give her a bath and haircut. I tried to find her owners, but no one ever claimed her, so Lucy Lu became MY dog.
I don’t know if she had been mistreated, but it certainly appeared that she had. She had no idea what a toy was, acted like she had never seen a treat, and would squeal if you walked too close to her. Over time, she has learned about treats and doesn’t squeal as often, but she still won’t do toys.
Most of the time, you can find Lucy Lu in my shadow. She follows my every move and is always close by. She has also become protective of me, and if someone comes into the house, she is sure to alert me, even if it is Joe. When I’m away from the house, she never barks at anyone.
This morning, I sat down in a chair and covered up with a blanket. It didn’t long until Lucy Lu walked over and curled up on the blanket on top of my feet. As I reached down to pet her, she was looking up at me with adoration in her eyes.
Maybe Lucy loves me most because I’m the one who feeds her. But I don’t think it is that since Joe is the one who sneaks her food off his plate. I think the reason is because I’m the one who saved her from being lost, alone, and afraid.
Titus 3:4-7
4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Lucy Lu isn’t the only one who has been saved. Jesus Christ came into this world to save everyone who was lost, alone, and afraid. He washes away our sins like Lucy’s dirt was washed from her coat. He sustains us during times of trouble and guides us throughout our day.
I hope when Jesus looks down at His feet, He sees me there, looking up with adoration, for He is the one who has rescued me.
To God Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
I absolutely love this story! And the application is spot on! Jesus loves and saves us and sustains us and then we have the eternal gift of heaven!
Such a beautiful analogy. I too was rescued by Jesus and have experienced many of the same benefits as Lucy Lu has. I’ve been washed, fed, loved, comforted, clothed and provided for in every way as I’ve grown in God’s grace and wisdom.
Tania, thank you for this lovely reminder. It brought tears to my eyes and thanksgiving in my heart. Blessings!

I love this <3
I love today’s devotional. Thanks for sharing!
I love this post! I volunteer (and am a former board member) at my local humane society. I’ve seen that look in dogs’ eyes and I believe they do know when they have been saved. I also know that dogs have a serotonin reaction in their brain when they stare at someone they love. I hate to admit it, but I have never thought to compare their salvation with ours. Thank you for that, and also, for your great wardrobe inspiration for those of us who are past the 50 age!
Beautiful. I love this.
i love this❤️
The gospel perfectly explained! Thank you

Oh Tania, that last sentence got me. I, too, hope Jesus sees adoration in my eyes when I look up to Him. Where would I be without Him? I don’t even want to think about it.

Lucy Lu is one lucky girl!! You do have a way with words. This warmed my heart.
I’ve always loved the pictures that showed the little children sitting at Jesus’ feet and looking and Him with adoration. I think of loved ones who are already in Heaven and think of them doing the same! One day I will be there too saved by His grace❤️. Thanks for sharing Tania.
Yes! Love that, too!
Beautiful message. I love it because it happened. Your Sunday posts are better than our minister’s sermons. Thank you.
Aww, I’m sure that’s not true but I appreciate the encouragement!

So heartwarming.
One of my favorite posts to date , Tania! Beautiful message❤️ and I always love seeing Lucy Lu photobombing in the background!
What a wonderful witness you are to so many. I look forward to the scripture you present more than the products! What an example of Psalm 150:6 you are….
“Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD.”
Yes, to God goes the glory!
Oh I just love those verses! What hope we have as believers.
Lucy Lu knows you saved her life…that’s why she looks up at you with adoration in her eyes. I pray that I look up at Jesus with utter thanksgiving & adoration for saving me…
Wonderful story and the analogy is right on. I love your Sunday posts.
Oh My, I absolutely Loved this. She knew that day you opened the car door , she would be rescued, the same way Jesus rescued us !
But, the last paragraph is what teared me up, the thought of sitting at Jesus feet and looking up at him.
What a Vision.
love your posts.
Such a sweet story and a beautiful analogy! Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Terri
Yes! That’s exactly what I was going to say😊
I am always amazed at your way with words. Your stories give me a new way to think about things. I don’t know if I had ever read the origin story of Lucy Lu!! Yes, I hope that our Lord sees the adoration we have for Him.
What a great lesson today!
You are such a good writer and I love your stories especially this one. I often see Lucy in your photos. We recently lost our Sophie and I realized I had seven beds for her in our home! She was older and needed soft snuggle spots since she followed me too. Some of us would love it if you add a bed for Lucy in your photo shoots. We are so happy she is part of your family now!!
Another great Sunday post.
Heartfelt analogy. Just beautiful. Brought joy to my heart to guide me as I begin the day.
Wonderful story and Bible verse for today.
Beautiful message Tania. Thank you.
Poor lamb but she had a happy ending. She was meant to be yours! ❤️
Such a sweet story of love, dogs are such loyal creatures and full of unconditional love!!
Wonderful post! A bible verse that is not repeated enough!
To God goes the Glory! Thank you Tania for your Sunday posts!

Thank you for this post. It’s a great way to start my Sunday.
What a great message it touched my heart this morning. We should always praise our LORD and Savior without him we would all be lost and no hope.
Amen! ❤️
Amen, Jesus rescued me too! So happy Lucy Lu has a great life now.
Amen. Lovely analogy!!
So true!
Last year, my two beloved dogs passed away. One of my dogs had looked at me with the same adoration when he was still alive. When you described how Lucy Lu follows you everywhere and looks at you with adoring eyes, that was exactly what my Red Baron did. I still miss both of my dogs, but I am thankful for the wonderful years that I got to spend with them. Even though we technically rescued them by adopting them from a no-kill shelter, in more ways than one, I believe that they both saved me and looked after me. Thank you for this reminder.
Dogs are such a blessing. I just wish they lived longer! xoxo
I love the story of Lucy Lu and how you connected it to the salvation message. Thank you for sharing.
