SPRING 2022 TRENDS IN FASHION
On Monday, I briefly mentioned Spring 2022 Trends, and several people messaged me asking me to do a post on what the trends are going to be for spring 2022. Fashion trends come and go and they change every year. Some trends stick around for only a few months, but others may trend for years.
Fashion Trends tend to circle back around every so often, and that is the case right now. If you remember the 90s, then you will have a jump start on the trends for this spring. You don’t have to wear every trend, in fact, wearing head-to-toe trends is usually not a great look. Building your wardrobe with classic and essential pieces, and then supplementing them with trends, is the easiest way to look modern and stylish while not breaking the bank.
If you only remember one thing from this post, I want you to remember this; you never have to wear any style that you don’t like. Pick and choose what suits you best according to your personal style, lifestyle, body type, and budget. Unless you love a trend or think that it is one that will be around for a loooong time, then I suggest choosing trends that are less expensive. Save your money to invest in classic staples that you can wear for years.
Spring 2022 Fashion Trends: What to Look For in 2022
I’m going to start with the trend that I am thrilled about. I’ve been wearing this “trend” for a long time, so I’m happy to see that it is now considered “in.”
-
Bright and Bold Colors
This year we’re going to see lots of bright and bold colors. Pink is especially trending, and you’ll see it in accessories as well as in clothing. I shared a bright pink handbag on Monday that would be a great way to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe. If you are a neutral-loving gurl, don’t worry, neutrals will always be in style. They might not be “in,” but you can always wear a true classic neutral outfit.
-
Head to Toe Color
While I’m talking about color, you’re going to see outfits in head-to-toe colors this spring. That doesn’t mean that it has to be a bright and bold color, it could also be all white, all black, or all pastels. White on white is supposed to be huge this year, so you might want to think along those lines. Everything Bridal is trending, so white or white, lace, sweetheart necklines, etc., will all be in the stores.
I think a head-to-toe outfit is chic and sophisticated, so I’m excited about this trend also. Plus, you don’t have to worry if your outfit matches since it will be in the same color or color family.
-
Mini-Skirts
Okay, this trend is one that I’m not happy about. I know that it works wonderfully for young women, and if you love this trend, then feel free to jump on board. I’ve worn a mini-skirt in the winter with tights, but I’m not sure I could carry off the look in spring and summer. I doubt that I’ll be wearing this trend, although I’ve learned to never say never. Lol!
-
Maxi-Skirts
I guess the trend predictors must have thought about us ladies who were not going to be happy with the mini-skirts because they also included maxi skirts as a spring trend. Maxi skirts and dresses are a look that I love, and these are already in my closet.
-
Textures
Clothing in different textures will be trending this spring. I mentioned lace above, but there are also going to be lots of feathers, fringe, and pleats in the stores. Lace, fringe, and pleats are textures that we’ve all seen, and probably owned, before, but I’ll be interested in seeing how they incorporate the feather trend into the mainstream.
-
Jeans That are Low and Long
Don’t panic, but I’m hearing that mid-rise and low-rise jeans are a coming trend for Spring 2022. I’m not sad about this coming trend since the high-waisted jeans are a little uncomfortable. The new mid-rise and low-rise jeans are supposed to be more relaxed. You’ll be seeing lots of full-length jeans in straight and bootcut styles. Since straight leg and bootcut are the easier and most flattering for most women, this might be a trend that you will love to embrace.
-
Platforms
If longer jeans are going to be trending, then platform shoes are going to follow. I ordered most of the platform shoes below because I love the idea of wearing platform shoes with jeans, it makes your legs look long and lean.
-
Statement Necklaces
I love statement jewelry because it makes..well, a statement. I wore a beautiful pearl statement necklace the other day (sorry, it’s sold out), and items like the necklace can take a blah outfit to WOW easily.
-
Crochet
Crochet is usually something you see in Spring and Summer, but you’re going to see it everywhere this year. Crochet tops are hitting the stores, but handbags are going to be the way that I incorporate this trend. Leather is my handbag of choice, but I love straw, bamboo, linen, and raffia for spring and summer. I don’t guess it will be a huge leap to try a crochet handbag.
-
90s Shoulders
Yes, this means what you think it means. Shoulder pads are back! They have slowly been creeping into clothing, but they aren’t going away, at least it doesn’t seem like they are. Several items that I’ve looked at this year had shoulder pads, so I’m on “wait and see” for now.
-
Zebra Print
Animal print is always popular, no matter what time of the year it is. Leopard has been the king of prints for several years, but zebra print might knock it out of the top spot this spring and summer. Zebra print has been coming on strong for the past year, and leopard print has been around so long that it is starting to feel old and dated. So, I ordered in a few Zebra print items, and we’ll see how I like them.
-
Ballet Flats
I love my Tory Burch and Michael Kors ballet flats that I’ve worn for a couple of years. It appears like ballet flats, rounded and pointy-toe will be trending this year. I’m betting that several of you are jumping for joy at this trend since flats are your shoe of choice.
-
Puffy Sleeve
I have a love/hate relationship with statement sleeves. I love them since they are unique and different, but I hate them if I want to put on a blazer or cardigan. The puffy sleeve will bunch up under the sleeve of the blazer or cardigan, and that is not a good look. These are a trend that I will add sparingly unless I figure out a way to fix the bunching issue.
These are a few trends to help you navigate the New Arrivals hitting the stores. There are a lot more Spring Trends for 2022, but these are the ones that I thought would be the most helpful.
Remember, you don’t have to wear any of these trends, but you should be aware of them. Wearing a few trends is an easy way to show others that you are aware of the current fashion trends, and you’ll look more modern and youthful.

I love the cute clutches can you do post on your favorite ones
All of these items look fabulous on you!
I have to say personally, I am disappointed in just about all of these new trends. I was in high hopes that the high waisted pants would stick around for a while. The mid and low rise are such a bummer. They cut your figure. They are less flattering and a whole lot less slimming.
I am one that enjoys the shapely look of clothing that show off the curves. All of these loose-fitting tops, shoulder pads, feathers are a bit much for the look I prefer.
Put yourself in a low rise, loose blouse, then compare it to a high rise, fitted blouse and look at the difference. You will be impressed by how much slimmer you look. I am 65 and need all the “help” I can get to look put together; the fitted look is my preference.
