HOW TO STYLE A PLAIN JANE LOOK
It has been a gorgeous day today and even though I sat inside at work it was still pretty great. I did get a lot of work accomplished and for the first time in a while, I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My stack of work on my desk is slowly dwindling and I hope to actually be able to see the wood of the desk before long. Lol! Since I was feeling so good about all the work I had gotten done I decided to reward myself.
I snuck off early! I went to the house and yanked off all of my jewelry, that is always the first thing I do when I walk in the door. Then I threw on some shorts and a tee shirt and headed out to sit by the pool. The pump on our pool quit working Sunday night but Joe, who is incredibly mechanically minded, ordered a part and had it fixed by the time I got home. I thought about jumping in and going for a swim but the lounge chair called my name instead. I laid my head back and before I even knew it I was sound asleep. Lol! There is no telling how long I would have slept if the train hadn’t decided to go by. I never even hear the train when I am in the house but if you are outside it can be deafening. Emersyn covers her ears when she comes over because it is just too loud.
I told you that I have been in a “Plain Jane” mood lately. What is more “Plain Jane” than two solid items worn together? The answer would be ONE solid item worn all by itself! Lol! Even though this maxi dress is solid in color it makes up for it is the neckline detail. I bought this in Alaska at the nail salon Ashleigh and I went to. I had never heard of the brand, MTS, but it seems really nice. I have not washed the dress yet so I don’t know how it will stand up to that. The real selling point was the unique detail on the neck. That is so cute!!!
I have had several of you ask about casual events and outdoor summer weddings. I thought I would show you how easily you could take this dress and add a scarf and make it appropriate for any of those events. Adding the scarf hides your arms if you are not happy about the sleeveless option and it also adds a little warmth especially if you are outdoors after the sun goes down.
You can tie the scarf in front so that you don’t have to keep grabbing it every time you move your arms. This makes is easy to eat and drink without having to juggle.
Wearing the scarf in this way hides the neckline detail but it adds some drama all on it own. Because you can’t see the neckline you can wear this dress and people might not even recognize that you wore it before.
My Alaska daughter is CRAZY about sharks. She loves Shark Week and treats it like a holiday. So, in honor of my daughter, I am having a “Shark Week Special.” Every new PC who signs up and purchases a full regimen will get a FREE Essentials Daily Body Moisturizer. Already a PC? Order a full regimen and receive a Mineral Peptides Powder from me.

What a cute neckline & as always, you’re rocking it~! I LOVE that scarf used as a shawl too! Glad you got a nap that you have such a handy husband! Its been 96 degrees in my house all week as the a/c is out & I’m dying! Finding all kinds of reason to not be home! Ha!
Great color on you!
Who knew that Alaska sells so many cute, summery clothes?! Have enjoyed seeing all of them on you, the prettiest model.
I admire your willingness to go with out sleeves! My arms look like a Christmas ham!!! Neckline on the dress is lovely!!
Oh, Kathy. That made me spew out my coffee. Mine would look like that too if I had them laid against my body. Always hold them out for pictures, it really helps.
I love this dress Tania! You look gorgeous in every picture. Love it with the scarf specially around your shoulders and tied in the front! Just elegant! I enjoy reading your posts each day and get so many great ideas about styling outfits and accessories. Thank you. This California lady loves your Southern sense of humor and I adore hearing you speak. Thank you for making each day a little brighter!
Rhonda
Rhonda, people will comment to me about my accent and I say, What accent? Lol!
I just love the way you pull everything together! The scarf just totally makes the outfit. I would love to see the size of your closet!?
I love this scarf tied in the front and especially with this cute dress. Glad you got the opportunity to get away from the office, and a nap to boot 😉 Today is my Friday, but not for a fun reason. I live in a very small town so one needs to go out of town for just about everything. My husband is going to the eye doctor and I’m getting a mammogram. I think I will still get some shopping in. You know that song Amarillo by morning? I will be in Amarillo in the morning. Actually, I’ll be there by night. Lol
I know exactly how you feel, Melesa. Almost all of our doctor visits and any major shopping requires a two-hour drive. ? I have never been to Amarillo but Joe lived for a very short time in Wichita Falls.
