STYLING VELVET FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE

Whew, I am glad that I took these pictures before I left for Tennessee because a cold front has moved through now. It makes me shiver just looking at these pictures. I can already hear some of you saying that wearing a sleeveless top in the middle of he winter months is not smart but I’ll get to that later in the post. Also, after looking at these photos I can tell you that I will be adding arm exercises to my New Year’s resolutions. Dang, I need Michelle Obama to whip my arms into shape. Lol!My son, Joseph, used to aggravate me all the time with my “arm waddle.” He would catch me doing something and grab my waddle and give it a voice like it was alive. I look at the picture and I see my arms talking to me, “why have you let me get so flabby?” Ugh! I hate exercise…..Why is it so hard? I really do want to work on getting healthier in the coming year. I am the only one that can do something about that. I need to drink more water so to help me I am going to set an alarm for every 30 minutes to remind me to drink up. Small adjustments are the easiest and the ones that will stick with you. If you try to do an entire revamp then you will set yourself up for failure, it is just too hard to stick with. Pick one, two, or even three areas and start small. I am EMBRACING the New Year, New Opportunities, and a New ME!There are times when the pictures do not do the clothing item justice and this is one of those times. This velvet ruffle top is ADORABLE!!! This was in my recent Trunk Club shipment and I am keeping this! This is one of those items that can dress up anything and I think it will look great even with jeans. It is a size medium and fits perfect. The asymmetrical look is different and I know that everyone will not a fan of this style but it gives the top a lot of style. I can see wearing this with a maxi dark gray metallic skirt. I just happen to have one of those (if I can fit in it) and if there is a “fancy” event it would look great together. However, I am going to be ordering a “sleecret” or “instant sleeve” top to wear under this. It is an undergarment with mesh sleeves that you can wear under sleeveless tops to give you a little extra coverage. They come in different colors so you can get whatever color you need for your outfit.

I thought that I needed some bling jewelry to wear with this top but I didn’t want to take away from the top. I added the Evelyn Nicole choker style necklace and I like the overall look. I think it completes and compliments the look without being the center of attention. If I didn’t have on a necklace at all it would have been fine but lacking, or at least n my opinion. The bracelets are fantastic because they are on an elastic band so they are easy to get on and off plus they still look fancy. They are the Georgia and the Laurel. These bracelets are affordable and great for wearing on date night, to church, or any event like a wedding.I know that I wore these trousers earlier this week (here) but they are my go-to when I am wearing a black top and thinking dressy. Honestly, I was in a rush to get my pictures taken before I left and the sun was starting to set or I might have come up with a different look. But, since I had these on for the other picture I thought, “why not, they are perfect for the top?” The pants and the pumps are a classic look but the top is a trendy stylish look. That just goes to show you that you can mix and match styles, you don’t have to stay in the same style mode.
