SWEATERS AND JEANS FOR A CASUAL SATURDAY
Woohoo! It is Saturday, and I plan on taking my Christmas tree down today. I planned on taking it down two weeks ago, but I was waiting on some Christmas storage boxes to arrive. When I ordered the boxes, it said they would arrive on Friday or Saturday which would be perfect for my plans.
But, Friday and Saturday rolled around, and there were no boxes to be found. I checked the package shed that I bought,(similar one) I checked the front porch and the garage, but they weren’t there. So, I figured they got delayed and then I forgot about them. Later in the week, the UPS truck delivered a package and since we had snow on the ground, I decided to go through the basement to get to the package shed.
When I got to the basement door, I noticed that some packages were sitting beside it. I knew the delivery people couldn’t get inside the basement, so I was confused about how the packages got there. We’ve given our neighbor the code to the basement door just in case we are gone and he needs to get inside, so I wondered if he had brought them in.
When I got upstairs, I told Joe that I went to get some packages out of the shed, and before I could finish my sentence, he said, “I brought some packages in the other day and put them in the basement.” They had been there the whole time, but he never bothered to tell me about them. I told him that HE now gets to help me put up the decorations since I no longer have the energy. Lol! Want to make a bet on whether that happens??? Here are the items that I ordered:
Saturdays are usually a casual day for me, so these sweaters work perfectly. I like to wear something that is casual, but looks nice if I decide to run to the store. Since Christmas is over, I will occasionally run and do a try-on session, so I want to look nice for that. I hated shopping over the weekends during Christmas, it was waaaaay too crowded, and finding a parking spot was a nightmare.
These sweaters were supposed to be on my Monday post, but I noticed they were on sale and that the sale ends on Sunday. I didn’t want you to miss out on the huge savings, so I had to do a quick changeroo, and get these up ASAP.
I love this Fairisle sweater! The material is extremely soft but I’ll warm those who have a wool adversion, it contains 7% wool. I am built like a ruler, so I don’t have lots of curves. My waist is where I hold most of my weight, so I don’t have a pretty hourglass form. A sweater like this helps to create curves for me since it broadens my shoulders. Broader shoulders make your waist look smaller. That was why huge shoulder pads in jackets used to be so popular. I’m wearing a medium in the sweater and it fits me great.
It is obvious that I was in an orange/melon/red kind of mood on the day that I ordered these sweaters. The color of this yoke stitch sweater is called Cayenne, but it is a gorgeous mixture of orange, red, and melon. It is more orange/melon than red, but it is such a pretty color that I’m not sure that Cayenne does it justice.
The quality of the sweater is incredible and it is nice and heavy. The decorative stitchwork is beautiful and surrounds the neck and shoulders. This is a subtle way to have unique details without them being bold and in your face. Plus, unlike the Fairisle sweater above, it doesn’t draw as much attention to your shoulders, so women with broad shoulders could come closer to wearing this. I am wearing a medium which fits me perfectly.
The jewelry that I am wearing is all from Kendra Scott. I love this jewelry brand and I wear it almost 80% – 90% of the time. I wear these large statement earrings pretty much daily, but they are out of stock on the Kendra Scott website except in Rose Gold. I found them on another website, and they are on sale, so grab them while you can!!!
The Jack multi-strand necklace is also on sale at a HUGE discount. This necklace has colored crystals on one side, but I turn it over to the back and wear the solid metal showing most of the time. The shorter 18 kt. gold vermeil cross necklace is one that I rarely take off. The cross necklace isn’t on sale, but this hammered metal one and this Kyocera Opal one are.
Kendra Scott is having a 22% off select gold jewelry sale, so I’ll make a graphic with some of the jewelry I have or want.
I love the modern ankle jeans from Talbots. There is something about these jeans that are spot on! They hit me at the right spot on my ankle; they aren’t baggy, but they aren’t snug, and I even love the color. You see me wearing these a lot for a good reason, they are modern looking and fit great. I’m wearing an 8 since I usually size down one size in Talbots clothing.
My ankle boots are a pair that I bought during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’ve learned that boots are one of the first things to sell out during that sale, so I try to grab those as quickly as possible. I did find some similar options, and I’ll post those down below.
Since tomorrow is the last day of this sale, I went shopping for you. I’ll link to several of the items I thought were great deals, but you’ll need to look again for yourself. I try to only link to items that have inventory, but a sweater might be available in your size but not other sizes.

1 Corinthians 10:13
13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

I read this blog a few days ago and admired the yoke stitch sweater. This afternoon when poking around my local Talbots here in Canada I snagged this beauty for 60% off! Amazing!
You look fabulous in those jeans and sweaters!! You’ve got it goin’ on!
I love your post today! I am a Talbots fan!
I bought the Fairisle sweater right after reading your post.I love it. I showed the Talbots sales staff your post. They loved your picture!
OK, cayenne is my new favorite color!
Great post today. Great deals and great hints! Thank you especially for making a special post so that we can take advantage of the sales. That’s a great deal on that fair isle sweater from Talbots. They have great clothes. Good quality and classic style. Unfortunately I found that I as became more “curvy” some of their clothes especially pants didn’t fit me very well. You confess that you don’t have that problem…lucky you. But I can take advantage of the tops you show. Love your hint that the fair isle sweater makes your waist look smaller….I need that!! Thank you!
Wow love this colour ♥!!♥
Love that yoke stitch sweater. Your story of Joe forgetting to tell you about your packages sounds like my husband.
Have a great day!
I agree with the ladies that said you styled the sweaters much nicer than Talbots. Looking at them on their web site I passed them by but now that I saw them on you I’m thinking twice!
