Talbots Try On With Different Body Types
The other day, I ran into Talbots for a quick try on session. My assistant, Megan, came with me, and we thought it would be fun if she tried on some of the same outfits as me. I’m 5’6″ tall and wear a medium or a size 8. Megan is 5’10” and wears an XL or a size 14. So, here is a Talbots try on with different body types.

This quilted puffer sweater jacket was the first thing that caught my eye as I walked into the store. I love the quilted material and design, as well as the mixed media with the sweater sleeves.
You can see the design extend around to the back. I wore these jeans to the store. I bought them earlier this year, and they are one of my favorite pair of jeans. Both items run true to size.
Megan looked great in this camel striped half-zip sweater and bootcut jeans. Of all the outfits she tried, this one was her favorite. She said she would wear this all the time since it is an elevated casual look.
The sweater has a lot of visual interest because of the stripes, different textured fabric, and raised pattern. I love a half-zip sweater, and so does Megan. She said everything fit her true to size.
She then tried on this Fairisle sweater in gorgeous shades of brown. They didn’t have my size in the sweater, so I ordered it online because it is sooo pretty in person.
I fell in love with this black velvet button-front shirt. During the holidays, I like having items that look festive without being too fancy. Velvet is sooo luxurious feeling and look, and it is great to wear for winter celebrations.
I would wear this to a friend’s casual Christmas party. Adding fun, sparkly jewelry or shoes can make the outfit fancier.
I loved this outfit on Megan! She looks fabulous in this color green, and I told her it needed to go home with her.
The floral cashmere sweater perfectly coordinates with the wool blend coat. I love the different shades of green with the pop of turquoise.
She kept the floral cashmere sweater on and switched the bootcut jeans for white jeggings. Look how the white pants bring out the white in the sweater. Megan said she sized up in the jeggings since they have a slimmer fit.
The sweater fits her great. You can tell by the look on her face that she loved it too.
I tried on the same outfit. Honestly, I think the sweater looked better on her than on me. I’m wearing a medium, which seemed too tight, but the large was huge on me.
This Fair Isle sweater has the same colors as the cashmere sweater but in a different pattern. I like Johnny Collar shirts and sweaters, but this one is too large. They didn’t have my size, but I wanted to try it on anyway.
Once again, Megan looked better in the sweater than I did. It fit her perfectly, and notice how great it looked with the white jeggings.

Love when you both try on the same thing! I am closer to your assistant’s size and it helps. Still couldn’t afford Talbots though.
Don’t know where you live but Houston has a Talbots Outlet. I find a lot of bargains there. Also, the charity resale / consignment shops in our area always have a lot of Talbots items. Their clothes hold up so well!!! Quality lasts and is worth it.

Loved this topic and idea! I will say however, as a longtime Talbots customer, I’ve started to sway away from them because I find their sizes so unpredictable and difficult to order online. At the same time, their return turnaround is very long. That being said, I did order the green velvet top!
