The Best Dresses To Wear To Survive The Heat

This week I’m doing a series of posts on fashion to wear when the temperatures rise. It’s so muggy and gross outside; I really don’t want to wear anything except t-shirts and shorts. If I’m being honest, I don’t even want to go outside! But there are lots of events in the summer, fun get-togethers, weddings, baby showers, and church that require dressing up a bit. No worries! Today, I’m sharing some of the best dresses to wear to survive the heat!

How cute is this sleeveless dress? This dress will keep you cool and gives off the vibes that I’m ready for a pickleball game or headed to the mall to do some damage. Lol! Guess which one I am more likely to be doing.
The description calls this a swim cover-up, which I suppose you could do. But I think it is way too pretty just to wear over a swimsuit. I love the navy with white trim; it looks classy and elegant. The dress is slightly too big on me, especially under the arms. I think I’m beginning to see a trend with my casual clothing from Lands’ End picks.

If you have to wear a dress, make it a loose and flowy one! I love this floral version! It’s got a cute button-up bodice that would be very flattering and a ruffle-tiered skirt with a fun front slit. The sleeves are a nice length and the whole look is just sweet and laid back. It’s made from lightweight rayon, so it’d be great for warm weather. This would be lovely to wear to a wedding.
Loose doesn’t have to mean baggy. I think this is adorable! This dress is made from crisp cotton and comes with a handy removable tie belt. Define your waist, gurls! This would be really cute at an outdoor sporting event, BBQ, or lunch with friends. You know I love a dress with POCKETS! Plus, it’s machine washable for easy care.

I’m not going to lie—I love this caftan! You’ve seen me share this dress a lot, and it is because I wear it a LOT! It is comfy and perfect for wearing around the house instead of PJs. But I honestly think it looks exquisite when dressed up with jewelry, heels, and a nice clutch. Of course, you can also wear it on the beach as a swimsuit cover-up, so this thing is sweeeet! Funny thing…Joe loves it too.

One of the reasons I love dresses so much is because they are so comfortable, and this one is sooo comfy! It is roomy and not clingy but still cute and feminine. I originally ordered this dress in a medium, but it was a little too tight through the chest. The large fit me much better. It comes in so many prints and colors that I had a hard time choosing which one to add to my cart! This will look so cute under a denim jacket or cardigan with booties this fall.

Someone asked me the other day if blue was my favorite color. I do wear a lot of blue, but I’m not sure it is my favorite color. Blue looks good on me because it matches my eyes, but I also love many colors. Color aside, look at the gorgeous print on this dress!!! I wore this dress under a blazer which will be great for spring or fall, but it looks just as beautiful without the blazer for the rest of the hot summer months.

This turquoise blue tiered dress is perfect for summer since it allows for a lot of airflow. I love adding a lightweight cardigan to my dresses since it can be cool in the mornings and evenings, and restaurants are always freezing.
Remember the house dresses our grandmothers used to wear? I think this is a more chic version of those, lol. Loose, tiered dresses are perfect for staying cool and stylish this summer! Made from 100% cotton, it’s lightweight, breathable, and super comfortable. It comes in both knee-length and ankle-length styles, has short sleeves, a round neck, and handy side pockets – my fave.
This is perfect for everything from lazy beach walks to sunny afternoon picnics; you can dress them up with sandals and a hat for a chic, casual look. Just remember, they run a bit smaller, so you might want to size up for a looser fit.
I think this is lovely! There are so many sweet details—the split V-neck, the flirty sleeves, and, of course, the tiered hem. Did I mention it has POCKETS? It comes in over 25 colors, but I think this teal is gorgeous. This would be lovely with a cute pair of sandals, but you could also get away with pairing it with tennis shoes.
If the house dress above was too plain, elevate it with this flutter-sleeve version. It’s made very similarly, but the waistline, sleeves, and rounded neck elevate it to a higher level. It comes in over ten different versions, both solids and prints.
The smocked bodice and elastic high waist create a flattering fit. With side pockets and the option to wear the sleeves on or off the shoulders, this dress can be worn in a ton of ways, from beach trips to special events. Plus, it’s easy to care for—just toss it in the machine or hand wash it in cold water!

You know I love this gauze trend. I recently did a post about it. With this dress, you can see why I’m a fan. Made from the softest organic cotton gauze, it’s super comfy and breathable. This dress has long sleeves, a pullover style, and large patch pockets. The flowy, midi-length silhouette would be great for lounging or running errands.

How about this gauze version from JJill? I love the royal blue color and the classic utility short vibe. Did you know that the gentle flare of an A-line dress can make your waist appear smaller and give your overall figure a more defined shape? Sign me up! The material is light and breezy, and the side vents give you even more air circulation.

This dress is actually two pieces. You can wear it with the top vest or take that off and be ultra cool with thin straps. If you click the link and watch the video, you’ll see that it can even be worn with just one strap if you’re feeling spicy! It’s 100% linen and comes in sizes XS to 4X.
Finally, how fresh and cool does this dress look? It’s amazing how little tweaks can take a dress from casual to chic. Patchwork is not something I usually associate with chic, but it works here. Wear it with some pretty brown sandals, and throw on a lightweight cardigan or gauze button-down if you want to cover your arms. It’s also available in petite and tall sizes!

The blue shirt dress is cute. I bought 2 dresses this year which is a lot for me.
That teal dress is so pretty! Shorts and tshirts are my go to for summer but I like dresses too (pockets are always a plus! Lol).

My feelings about these hot, humid, muggy days in VA are the same! Give me shorts and tees. But I love summer dresses and these are beautiful. Thank you!
