The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter
I love all things fashion, but when it comes right down to it, I’m a jeans girl. Denim is never out of style, but different versions trend from season to season. I’m all for wearing what you love, but it’s always good to add something new to your wardrobe. Today, I thought I’d share the best of the trending jeans this winter.
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Frayed Hem
Jeans with frayed hems are having a moment! They are available from every retailer, from Walmart to Neiman Marcus. These are Mother jeans, one of my very favorite denim jeans available from Nordstrom. These are ankle length which is perfect for showing off your cute booties.
Here’s another great pair of denim jeans with a slight flare. Paige is another popular brand sold at Nordstrom. These and Mother jeans are an investment, but they’ll last a very, very long time. They fit so nicely. Be warned. Once you try these, you may never be satisfied with less.
Frayed hems come in all types of denim – skinny, flared, and, of course, wide-leg. There’s just something chic about trouser shape pants. These have large pockets on the back and come in a light wash as well as the pictured dark. They run true to size but don’t go too large. Denim stretches as you wear it, and you don’t want to have a baggy bum!
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Straight Leg
Yes, straight-leg jeans are still trending! I love the vintage wash on these and the slight distressing. These hit at the ankle and can be worn with casual sneakers or cute boots. Because they’re not flared, I can also cuff them to make sure they hit at the perfect spot, or even tuck them into tall boots! When you pay more for a good pair of jeans, you want to get a lot of wear out of them.
These are Ab-Solution jeans from Democracy. They had me at AB-Solution, lol. I like that these are a cross between a straight leg and a skinny pair of jeans. Not quite skinny, but not boxy. They come in many different colors and washes, including grey, which is another trend. (More about that below.) And these won’t break the bank.
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Cargo
Cargo pants are a fun trend this year. I used to call these utility or carpenter pants, but either way, they are a fun change. I prefer the ones that don’t have gaping pockets, especially since I don’t need to carry a lot of hammers or nails. Lol!
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Wide Leg
Keeping up with the latest trends helps to keep me looking modern and youthful. All trends aren’t for me, but I’m embracing wearing wide-leg jeans. Wide-Leg jeans and pants have been on the fashion scene for a bit, but they are currently a BIG trend.
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Patch Pockets
I’ll be honest: I didn’t like this style when I first started seeing it on the websites. But, like a lot of trends, it has grown on me. I’ve even purchased a few pairs of patch pocket jeans, and I find myself wearing them since they have the unique detail and aren’t like the other 30+ jeans in my closet.
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Flares
A bootcut or a slightly flared pair of jeans are my favorite style of jeans. Some jeans have an extremely large, oversized flare, but I prefer the smaller, more subtle version. Maybe I am showing my age. 🤷♀️ The great thing about fashion is that you get to choose what you like and wear what you want.
The Best of the Trending Jeans This Winter – Grey Jeans
As I mentioned above, grey jeans are definitely on trend this fall/winter. This pair from Dillard’s is for my petite gurls. If you click the link, it will take you straight to the petite sizes. Don’t worry, of course they are available in misses and plus sizes.
This combines two of the trends into one great pair of jeans. I love the dove grey color, and the length of the straight leg. These are from Lee which is known for making affordable jeans. I know some of you can’t get behind the high rise so you’ll be happy to know that these are midrise. If you don’t love the grey, no worries. They come in several other colors and washes.
And finally, a nice mid-rise flare in grey. These are also by Lee, which means they are an affordable option. I’ve mentioned before that flare jeans are great for making the leg look slimmer. There’s something about the way they hug the leg, and then flare out that makes for a pretty silhouette. Wear them with a heel to elongate the leg even more.
What about it, Gurls? What’s your favorite trending jean?

Straight for the moment but im trying to like flares😄
Love your post on jeans today. I bought a pair of mid rise kicker boot cut jeans from Old Navy. They fit perfectly and the kicker boot cut is just the right flare….not too much and fit over my ankle boots perfectly.
Always look forward to your posts every day. Thank you!!
Love this! I am finding that I can wear jeans to places that I never used to (like activities at church – I even wore cordoury to church last Sunday!) I bet my mother is watching incredulously from her heavenly home – jeans at church – never! Love that women “of a certain age” are embracing new fashion ideas.I love your blogs for that kind of encouragement.
Yes, jeans are way more acceptable than they used to be. Trouser jeans look dressy, and darker colors look even dressier.
I love that grey is trending. Having another color choice is great. I need to step out of the box and try the wide leg pant. My favorite pair of jeans right now are some black corduroy pants.
I’m definitely a jeans girl.
Do you remember patchwork jeans from the 70s? That’s what patch pocket jeans remind me of. I am loving the wide leg trend this season though. I am even wearing a black pair with a blazer to the office and loving it. Thanks for the other options though, some worth looking into if you’re a jeans lover like me!
Patchwork jeans are a thing now too. Lol! The first time I saw the patch pockets, I thought I was looking at the back of the jeans. Hahaha!
I would like to buy a new pair of jeans, but need to try them on. I see some on people and you and love the look, but just unsure of the size. Also, are the pricier jeans worth it? Last pair I bought was the Buckle size 27, not sure how that would compare with other brands, like Chicos and Talbots.
I haven’t bought anything from Buckle in over 20 years, so I can’t really compare them.
Like the itty-bitty boot cut, just the right amount of flare for me.
I’m a shortie and have some fluff (😜), so I have to be careful with jeans/pants in general so I don’t look like I’m playing dress-up. 😆 This is a great list! My faves are the whites from Talbots and the pull-ons from Dillard’s. I probably would have never tried patch pockets, either, but you look adorable and I just might have to try some on myself. 😊
😊😊😊
I love any frayed denim!
I bought a pair of straight leg jeans from Old Navy wearing them for almost a year. I am petite and these were a short straight leg. It is hard finding jeans that help height but not over whelm a petite women. Thank you for posts on the jeans.
