50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALLWhen I first moved to Grundy back in 1995 there was this little store that I went to all the time. It might have had a real name but all I ever knew it by was, “Inez’s.” Inez was one of the bigger than life characters that started every sentence with, “Law, honey, let me tell you what I got in today.” She was the original overstock store here in Grundy. She would buy out the merchandise from some of the stores after all the sales were over. Part of the fun of Inez’s was the hunt. Nothing was organized, things were in piles, boxes upon boxes were stacked up, but you just knew there was a treasure in there somewhere.50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALLWhenever it came time to pay she always made you feel like you were her best friend and her best customer. She would tell you how much everything totaled up to and then she would whisper, “But, because it is you, you can have it for ……” I am pretty sure that she used that line on everyone but it was still fun. She was like family. Her son and Joe were great friends and my daughter went to school with her grandson. Last night though I had to attend her funeral. Inez was 92 and in true Inez fashion, she was dressed in all her finery and looked beautiful. I bet she is telling some great stories about now and they are all starting with, “Law honey.” 50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALL When you are transitioning from one season to the next, it came be cold in the mornings and hot by the afternoon. So, the best thing you can do is wear a lightweight cardigan, wrap, or throw that you can remove if the need arises. This light beige cocoon wrap is perfect for that occasion. My dress is sleeveless so I needed to add something but a traditional jacket seemed too stuffy. This cardigan is several years old and it came from Cato’s. I liked the open weave in the sleeves. I thought it was a very pretty unique detail.

50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALL I have the Dallas necklace worn in the short version today. If you missed when I wore it long, you can see it (here). This is one of those “kitchen sink” kind of necklaces. There has to be something in your wardrobe that will match it. It is a heavier, very substantial, necklace. If you have issues with heavy necklaces then this one is not for you. The earrings and leather bracelet are this months Plunder Posse. The Posse is a monthly subscription service that is 25.00 total, including tax and shipping. There is no signup fee and you can cancel at any time. Each month is a different special consisting of 1 to 3 items. Some people I know use these as gifts for Birthdays, Christmas, etc. You could always keep the earrings and give away the bracelet or vice versa. Remember that all purchases over 75.00 excluding taxes and shipping, will get an extra piece of Plunder from me. Go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and pick on the party with my name. I have been busy mailing out Plunder pieces all week long to you ladies.50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALLThis maxi dress is also on that I bought at Cato years ago. I wore this last June and it is a completely different look. I love a maxi dress but I know a lot of you think you don’t look good in them. Just for your reference, I am 5’6″ tall. I liked the print in this dress, that is something I look for when I am choosing clothing. I look at the print and the color palette.

50 IS NOT OLD | TRANSITIONING A SUMMER DRESS TO FALLIt was a wild day yesterday in my Rodan + Fields business. I talked to a lady in California and one in South Dakota about joining me in this business. It never ceases to amaze me that I now talk to ladies all over the country and even in Canada and Australia. 1. Julia, where did you find you purse and what brand?

  1. What a treasure to have had Inez in your life! How wonderful Heaven must be for her with all of the people there to love.

  2. Love the dress and sweater, the belt and jewelery not so much. Maybe because when I see the belt, it looks too western with the dress? I’m no fashion expert by any means! Lol. Sorry to hear about your friend.?

  3. Today’s outfit is what my Grandma would have called a dog dog’s breakfast….a little bit of everything. I don’t think the belt works, but since you rarely make a fashion blunder a miss now and then is fine with me.

    1. Okay, confession time. I had on the denim jacket with this when I put the belt on and then changed my mind because I have been wearing the jacket so much. I changed the jacket but FORGOT about the belt. Oops. Lol!

  4. So sorry about the loss of your friend Tania, she sounded like a gem! Love the outfit on you…looks beautiful!

  5. Hi. Today’s outfit one of my favorites. I’d wear that myself. I don’t wear that much jewelry but it suits you. Love it! Sorry about your loss. She’s sounds like my kind of lady.

  6. Good Morning from Niagara Falls Canada! Just subscribed to your blog a few days ago and love your style, Tania! Any suggestions for a casual wedding to which guests are invited to wear jeans?
P.S. I’m not a fan of cold shoulder tops

    1. Janice, I would just wear what makes you comfortable and then dress it up some with jewelry and accessories.

  7. I love stores like that, because you feel so special!! That’s pretty much the secret, right?
We have a boutique in downtown Denver, that was like that (except it was organized), and it’s a wonderful place. I love hearing stories like that one of Inez, and as weird as it sounds, it can be enjoyable to go to those funerals. You hear the best stories, and it sounds like she lived a full life!
    XOXO

A lot going on busy! Still beautiful ?Just a tad bit busy.

  9. Aww. So sorry for your loss. It sounds like Inez was certainly a memorable lady with a lot of spark and fire and compassion in her. It is always so special to meet people like this and have them touch your life. Big hugs.
